One feature, in detail

Two birth charts, the classical Ashtakoot, and a cross-system count of up to seven readings - including where they disagree.

What it does

Both birth dates become real charts, and the match is scored with the classical Ashtakoot system - kootas derived from the two Moon nakshatras and Moon signs. A Marriage match scores all eight kootas out of 36; Business and Friendship are scored only on the four mental kootas - Graha Maitri, Gana, Tara and Bhakoot - out of 21, so the headline and the weakest link come from the same set. Alongside it the page runs Mulank and Bhagyank harmony from both birth dates, plus six further numerology pairings, each carrying the name of the source book it comes from.

The score is never the whole answer here, so the page names the weakest koota, prints the working behind the number, and counts how many of the readings it could compute actually agree - and says so when they do not. When the other person is a saved profile, a deeper read opens: six scored compatibility dimensions, a communication index built from Mercury, named pressure and protective indicators instead of a breakup percentage, and windows of support taken from each person's own Vimshottari timeline and Jupiter's transit. You use it to see where the friction sits specifically, and what to do about it, rather than to collect a verdict.

What it computes

  • Marriage scores all eight kootas out of 36; Business and Friendship four, out of 21
  • Cross-System Consensus counts how many of up to seven readings agree, and how many do not
  • Deep read: six scored dimensions, a Mercury-based communication index, stability terms
  • Windows where both charts support a commitment, from Dasha and Jupiter's transit

What it needs

Both people need a birth date and place. A birth time is optional, but the Ashtakoot score comes from the two Moons alone - with no birth time noon is assumed, and the Moon's nakshatra and sign, which the whole score rests on, can then fall differently. The deeper read also needs the other person saved as a profile, and with no birth time it counts houses from the Moon instead of the Ascendant.

What it does not know

These stretches are windows of support, not dates on which a marriage happens - a chart can say when conditions favour a commitment, never that one will occur.

In depth

The panels above say what the Compatibility page shows. This long read goes underneath them: what the app's classical sources do and do not say about matching two charts, exactly how the 36-point Guna Milan is computed here, how the numerology cross-checks vote, what the deeper read adds when the second person is a saved profile, one invented pair run through the real engines, and what a missing birth time does to all of it. If you only want the score, the free Kundli matching calculator runs the same Ashtakoot engine without an account.

Every number below was produced by running the code that serves the page on two invented people - "Asha", born 15 June 1990 at 10:30 IST in Mumbai, and "Rohan", born 18 November 1990 at 09:10 IST in Ahmedabad - evaluated on 5 October 2026. Neither is a real person. Where the engine declines to produce a number, this page says so too.

What the source texts say about matching, and what they do not

Guna Milan, also called Ashtakoot Milan, compares two birth Moons on eight factors (kootas) worth 36 points. It is what most families in North India mean by kundli matching, and it is the one part of this feature the app cannot cite. The header of the app's own compatibilityEngine.js says so plainly: none of the texts this codebase works from - Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS), Saravali, Bhrigu Sutras, Advanced Predictive Astrology or Daivajna Vallabha - contains the Ashtakoot rules. They hold no Bhakoot table, no list of nakshatra Ganas and no point scale for Graha Maitri. So the engine's tables are printed in full below for you to check. For Bhakoot, the Gana list and the Graha Maitri points the engine now follows published Kundli-matching references where they agree (October 2026), named in its header. The books the app does work from are on the sources page.

What those texts do contain is the material the kootas are built from, and nearly everything the deeper read uses.

  • BPHS Ch. 3 Sl. 12-13 calls the Sun the soul and the Moon the mind, which is why matching starts from the two Moons; Sl. 4-6 lists the 27 nakshatras. Moon sign and nakshatra explains the pair.
  • BPHS Ch. 4 describes each rashi as movable, fixed or dual (Sl. 5), gives its element, and for nine of the twelve names a social class. The Varna koota and every element comparison start here.
  • BPHS Ch. 3 Sl. 55 defines natural friendship, neutrality and enmity between grahas from the moolatrikona sign. Graha Maitri applies it to the lords of the two Moon signs.
  • BPHS Ch. 44 Sl. 15-21 names the 3rd, 5th and 7th stars from the birth star Vipat, Pratyak and Vadh - the same three counts the Tara koota marks down. The text uses them to judge dasha periods, not to match couples.
  • BPHS Ch. 18, on the 7th house, reads happiness through marriage from a 7th lord in its own sign or exalted (Sl. 1), or strong and joined or aspected by a benefic (Sl. 4-5). It reads difficulty from one that is fallen, combust or in an enemy's sign (Sl. 4-5) or placed in the 6th, 8th or 12th (Sl. 2, 17). Sl. 18 names Venus as the karaka.
  • Ch. 32 Sl. 22-24 reads the partner from the 7th counted from Venus; Ch. 7 says the spouse is judged from the Navamsa; Ch. 30 Sl. 1-6 introduces the Upa Pad. Ch. 80 Sl. 2 applies the same rules to women's charts, and the translator quotes Brihat Jataka reading the partner from the 7th counted from the Lagna or from the Moon - the classical footing for counting houses from the Moon when a birth time is missing.
  • Advanced Predictive Astrology (Vol-II, pp. 75-76) reads marital strain from the Moon and Venus both being afflicted by Saturn or Mars, by conjunction or aspect. It ties a happy married life to a strong Venus in a man's chart and to a strong Jupiter, Sun, Moon and 7th lord in a woman's.

BPHS states its results in the language of its time: Ch. 18 speaks of a sick spouse, several spouses, or the loss of one. The app keeps the mechanism - which lord, which house, which dignity - and drops those verdicts. Nothing on the Compatibility page predicts illness, death or separation.

How the Guna Milan score is computed

Each person's birth date, time and place become a sidereal chart on the Lahiri ayanamsa, exactly as on the Kundali page. From each chart the function ashtakoot() keeps two numbers only: the index of the Moon's sign (0 to 11) and the index of the Moon's nakshatra (0 to 26). No Ascendant and no other planet enters the score. Four kootas read the sign and four the nakshatra, which matters when a birth time is missing.

The Vashya groups carry numbers and no names in the code; only whether two numbers are equal or adjacent is used.

Varna is read from the element column: water signs take index 0 (the class BPHS calls Brahmin), fire 1 (Kshatriya), earth 2 (Vaishya) and air 3 (Shudra). BPHS Ch. 4 states a class for nine signs and is silent on Mithun, Makar and Meen, which the engine fills in from their element. These are classes of signs inside an old scoring formula. The app does not treat them as a statement about any person, family or community, and the one point they carry is the smallest in the system.

For Graha Maitri the engine holds one friend list per graha: Sun - Moon, Mars, Jupiter; Moon - Sun, Mercury; Mars - Sun, Moon, Jupiter; Mercury - Sun, Venus; Jupiter - Sun, Moon, Mars; Venus - Mercury, Saturn; Saturn - Mercury, Venus. For this page the lists were checked by applying BPHS Ch. 3 Sl. 55 to each graha's moolatrikona sign, and all seven match. The sloka also separates neutrals from enemies, and since October 2026 the engine uses that distinction too, with its ENEMIES lists taken from the same sloka.

The three nakshatra tables exactly as the engine holds them. The enemy Yoni pairs are Cat and Rat, Lion and Elephant, Cow and Tiger, Horse and Buffalo, Dog and Deer, Monkey and Sheep, Serpent and Mongoose.

Tara is the only koota that needs arithmetic. For the sample pair, counting from Shatabhisha (the 24th star) forward to Anuradha (the 17th) gives 21, which leaves remainder 3 when divided by 9, so that direction fails. Counting from Anuradha to Shatabhisha gives 8, which passes. One pass out of two scores 1.5. For two different stars the counts always add up to 29, so both can never fail: in this implementation Tara returns 3 or 1.5 and never 0.

Three kootas the engine itself flags

The engine header records an internal audit of 2 October 2026 that questioned three things: Bhakoot did not zero the 5/9 Moon-sign pair, the Gana list placed Ardra under Rakshasa and scored mixed pairs on a simple three-step scale, and Graha Maitri had no separate neutral and enemy steps. No source in the app's library contains the Ashtakoot rules, so in October 2026 the owner authorised published web references, adopted only where they agree: Bhakoot now zeroes 5/9, Ardra is Manushya, and Graha Maitri is graded friend-friend 5, friend-neutral 4, neutral-neutral 3, enemy-enemy 0. The Gana point scale and the friend-enemy and neutral-enemy Maitri cells were kept, because the references disagree there. If another tool gives a different total from the same two Moons, look at those first.

Two properties follow. The total depends on the order of the two people, because Varna is one-directional: the sample pair scores 21.5 with Asha first and 20.5 with Rohan first. On the signed-in page the first person is always the account holder, and no gender is asked for or used. And the total has a floor and a ceiling: across all 11,664 pairings the lowest is 5, the highest 34.5 and the median 22. Two identical Moons score 28, because sharing a nakshatra means sharing a Nadi.

Marriage, Business and Friendship: three readings of the same two Moons

The type chips change which kootas count. Marriage counts all eight, out of 36. Business and Friendship count four - Graha Maitri, Gana, Tara and Bhakoot, which the engine calls the mental kootas - out of 21. That split is the app's own design, and Business and Friendship are scored identically. The verdict word comes from the score as a share of its own maximum.

computeCompatibility(). Scores move in half points. Of the 11,664 pairings, about 17% land in Strong, 45% in Workable, 29% in Mixed and 9% in Challenging for a Marriage reading.

There is no pass mark in the code. Nothing treats 18 of 36 as a line, and nothing refuses a match below any number. The percentage is used in one other place, the consensus count below, where 55% and above is a favourable reading and under 35% an unfavourable one.

The page also names one koota as the area needing most attention: the lowest score as a share of its own maximum, among the kootas that count for the chosen type, so a Business reading can never point at Nadi. The sample pair scores 21.5 of 36 for Marriage (60%, Workable match) and 9.5 of 21 for Business (45%, Mixed - proceed with awareness). The Moons are the same in both. Nadi's 8 points and three smaller kootas have left the sum, and Gana's 0 of 6 weighs more in what remains.

The numerology cross-checks and the consensus count

Alongside the Moons, the page compares numbers taken from the two birth dates. The Mulank is the day of the month reduced to one digit; the Bhagyank is every digit of the full date added and reduced, keeping 11, 22 and 33. Both are worked through in Mulank, Bhagyank and Life Path, and you can compute your own on the numerology profile calculator. The first comparison uses the app's one harmony table.

If both the Mulanks and the Bhagyanks are on each other's lists the label is Strong; if one pair is, Workable; if neither, Needs effort. A master Bhagyank is read at its root for this lookup only (11 as 2, 22 as 4, 33 as 6), following the Master Numbers page of Advanced Vedic Numerology. Six further pairings follow, each from a named book.

The last column is buildCompatibilityConsensus(). Anything not named there counts as neutral.
  • Anti-Combination. The book gives three rules: a couple should not share a Mulank or a Bhagyank; one partner's Mulank matching the other's Bhagyank is "the best factor"; and a Mulank that is the "anti" of the partner's is good. Its table pairs 1 with 8, 2 with 8, 3 with 6, 4 with 2, 6 with 3, 8 with 2 and 1, 9 with 8, and gives none for 5 or 7. The app reads the anti table and a shared Mulank. It does not read the Mulank-to-Bhagyank rule or a shared Bhagyank, and the lookup starts from the first person's row.
  • Graha Friendship. The source treats each number as its planet (1 Sun, 2 Moon, 3 Jupiter, 4 Rahu, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 7 Ketu, 8 Saturn, 9 Mars) and prints each planet's friendly, non-friendly and neutral numbers separately. The page shows both directions when they differ; only the first person's is counted.
  • Destiny Grade. A 12-by-12 grid of letters A to D covering 1 to 9, 11, 22 and 33. The book prints no legend, so the short labels on screen are the app's. It also runs alone on the Chinese destiny grid calculator.
  • Wizard's Star. Eight lookups in two grids of 2 to 10 points each, so totals run from 8 to 80: 60 and above is Excellent, 47 to 59 Very Good, 34 to 46 Good, 21 to 33 Below Average, 20 and below Poor. It needs both names. With no name typed for the partner, or a Bhagyank of 33 that the book's grid does not cover, the reading is left out rather than guessed.
  • Life Path archetypes and the Basic Number grid. The nine archetypes each carry a compatible list and a challenging list that are not mirror images; a master life path has no archetype in the source, so that reading is left out for it. The grid lists lucky days, colours and lines of business for each pair of Mulanks, plus health associations that the page prints under "Watch for". Those are the book's lists, not medical advice, and the book's name-change line is not shown.

The Cross-System Consensus then counts votes: the Ashtakoot percentage, the harmony label (Strong favourable, Needs effort unfavourable) and the five countable pairings. It says "agree" only when all but one of the readings point the same way; otherwise it says they lean, raise caution or are mixed, and gives the count. Seven is the most it can count. In a run of 108 invented partners against the sample chart, 89 produced seven readings, 12 produced six and 7 produced five.

The books do not agree with one another, and the count exists to show that. Take Mulank 1 with Mulank 8. Advanced Vedic Numerology's anti table calls it a good marriage pairing. Vedic Numerology Basic reads Sun and Saturn as non-friendly in both directions. The app's harmony table lists neither number for the other. The same split appears for 3 with 6. The page prints all three, for the reasons set out in when astrology and numerology disagree.

The deep read: what a saved profile adds

The deep read is a second request that only accepts a saved profile, so details typed in for one comparison get the score and the cross-checks and nothing more. It reads both full charts rather than both Moons. Three conventions run through all of it.

  • Houses. With a birth time, houses are counted from the Ascendant (your rising sign is on the Lagna calculator). Without one they are counted from the Moon's sign, and every block that did so says so in its method note.
  • Capability. Each graha gets a 0 to 1 figure: its Shad Bala total out of 20 when the birth time is known, otherwise 0.5 plus an eighth of its dignity score (exalted or moolatrikona +2, own or friendly sign +1, neutral 0, enemy sign -1, debilitated -2). Rahu and Ketu are held at 0.5.
  • Contacts across charts. One person's graha touches the other's when both are in the same sign, or when the first aspects the second by graha drishti: the 7th sign for every graha, plus the 4th and 8th for Mars, the 5th and 9th for Jupiter and the 3rd and 10th for Saturn (BPHS Ch. 26 Sl. 2-5). BPHS defines that aspect inside one chart; the engine labels its use between two charts as an application, not a textual rule.

AXIS_QUALITY, used for Moon, Venus and Mercury alike. Elements score 2 when equal, 1.5 for fire with air or earth with water, 0.5 for fire with water or earth with air, and 1 otherwise.

BPHS Ch. 4 supplies the elements; the scores attached to each distance and element pair are the engine's own. The 7th-house term is the lord's capability doubled, less 0.35 for each malefic in the 7th (Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu - the list in BPHS Ch. 3 Sl. 11 without its two conditional entries), plus 0.3 if Jupiter aspects the house and 0.2 if a benefic occupies it, held between 0 and 2.

Communication and long-term stability

The communication index has five terms of 0 to 2: the Mercury-to-Mercury axis, the Mercury elements, the two Mercury capabilities added together, a direct Mercury-to-Mercury contact (2 if present, 1 if not), and Mars pressure on the other person's Mercury (0.5 if either Mars touches it, 2 if neither does). With it come named friction points and a short protocol - for instance, to state a conclusion before the reasoning when the two Mercuries sit on a hard axis.

The stability index adds sixteen terms of 0 to 2: Bhakoot, Nadi and Graha Maitri rescaled, the Moon-to-Moon axis, and six per person - the 7th lord's capability, Venus's dignity, whether Jupiter aspects the 7th, whether Saturn occupies, rules or aspects it (counted as a plus for durability, with its slowness stated), the modality of the 7th sign (fixed 2, dual 1.2, movable 0.8) and malefics in the 7th. The bands are durable from 72, solid from 58, workable with maintenance from 44, needs deliberate structure from 30, and structurally demanding below that.

Pressure points

This block returns a band and a weighted count of named indicators. It does not return a percentage, and it does not predict that a relationship ends. The weights below add into a load, and the load sets the band: under 3 low, 3 moderate, 6 elevated, 10 high. The engine calls those thresholds its own editorial choice and prints them in the response.

breakupRiskIndicator(). Each indicator is printed with the exact placement that triggered it and one thing to do about it.

Protective indicators are listed beside them and carry no weight: Mars placed that way in both charts, Jupiter's aspect on either 7th house, Bhakoot and Nadi both scoring, and a Venus in a friendly sign or better. The Mars rule is the same six houses the Mangal Dosha calculator uses. The engine also defines two transit indicators, for Sade Sati and Ashtama Sani, but the page's request sends no transit positions, so they do not appear; the Sade Sati calculator answers that separately.

One caution comes from running it. Among the 108 invented partners tested against the sample chart, none landed in low pressure: 13 were moderate, 53 elevated and 42 high. Part of that is the fixed chart, which carries 2.5 points of load from its own 7th house before any partner is considered. Part is the design: around twenty indicators can fire, and several depend on one person's chart alone. Read the named list, not the band word.

Where it strains, the partner read and the karmic markers

  • Emotional seams compare the two Moons. An alert fires for a Moon axis scoring 1 or less (2/12, 4/10, 6/8), for Moon elements scoring 1 or less, for a Gana koota below full marks, for either Moon being debilitated, in an enemy sign, or touched by Saturn, Mars, Rahu or Ketu in its own chart, and for one birth in the waxing fortnight and one in the waning.
  • Under closeness gives each chart one orientation - moves closer, takes distance, pulled both ways, or neither - from weighted pulls. A weak Moon, Rahu on the Moon and a water or air Moon pull toward contact; Ketu on the Moon or Venus, Saturn on the Moon and an earth Moon pull toward distance. The engine deliberately uses no clinical attachment labels.
  • Repeating patterns are loops between the charts: Mars, Saturn or Ketu on the other's Moon, Rahu or Ketu on the other's Venus, Mars on the other's Mercury, and Moons on the 6/8 or 2/12 axis. Each gives both people an action and lists, under "Louder during", the Mahadasha of its driving graha within twelve years.
  • The partner read keeps two things apart: what your own chart indicates about a partner (the 7th sign and its lord, Venus, and with a birth time the Upa Pada, one of the Bhava Padas, and the 7th of the Navamsa), and the second person's own Moon, Sun, nakshatra, Venus, Mars and Mercury. An alignment line counts shared signs or elements and says that a divergence is not a warning.
  • Classical karmic markers are same-sign contacts of Rahu, Ketu or Saturn with the other person's Moon, Sun, Venus or Ascendant, Moons on the 6/8 axis, a shared birth star, Ketu or Saturn in either 7th house, and two or more grahas falling in the other's 12th. The engine's note says none of them means a relationship must be endured or is bound to end.

The interpretive sentences in these blocks are the engine's plain-language readings of a placement, not quotations. Advanced Predictive Astrology pp. 75-76 supports the mechanism behind several of them, while the wording and all of the advice are the app's. On the birth fortnight Saravali is more graded than the engine: Ch. 4 Sl. 9 counts the waning Moon with the malefics, but Ch. 5 Sl. 16-17 reports a view in which the Moon is strongest from the 11th day of the bright half to the 5th day of the dark half. The engine uses the simple two-way split.

Windows of support

For each person the engine walks the Vimshottari timeline: every Mahadasha not yet over, and every Antardasha in the next eight years. A period qualifies when its lord rules, occupies or aspects the 2nd, 7th or 11th house, or is a marriage karaka. Each link counts one. Support is the links (capped at 4) divided by 4 and halved, plus half the lord's capability; periods under 0.4 are dropped. The page sends no gender, so both karakas - Venus and Jupiter - are counted for both people.

The joint windows are the overlaps of the two people's qualifying periods. Antardashas are used wherever a person has any, because two overlapping Mahadashas can span a decade. Overlaps shorter than two months are dropped and at most eight are kept. The engine also dates Jupiter's passage through each person's 7th house sign and the 7th sign from their Moon, sampling every fifteen days and bisecting each boundary to the day. Those transit stretches travel in the response and are described in the method note. The timing card itself prints the joint dasha windows and each person's next qualifying period, and the joint windows do not use the transit dates.

How classical is this? BPHS times marriage differently: Ch. 18 Sl. 22-34 give fixed ages from natal combinations, several involving the 2nd and 11th lords beside the 7th, and Ch. 48 Sl. 5-8 reads the 7th lord's dasha as a difficult one. The dasha-and-Jupiter approach is later practice. Advanced Predictive Astrology (pp. 310-311) says Jupiter gives good results in the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th from the Moon and stresses Jupiter's transit for events such as marriage; its own trigger, transiting Jupiter aspecting natal Venus, Mars, Ketu or Jupiter, is not what the app computes. For the periods themselves, see what a Mahadasha is and the Timing feature.

One pair, worked through

Asha's Moon is at 17°44' Aquarius in Shatabhisha; Rohan's is at 10°14' Scorpio in Anuradha. Her Ascendant is Cancer, his Sagittarius. Reading the tables above: Aquarius is air (index 3) and Scorpio water (index 0), so Varna gives 1. Vashya groups 2 and 3 are adjacent: 1 of 2. Tara is 1.5 of 3, as worked earlier. Horse and Deer are neither the same nor a listed enemy pair: Yoni 2 of 4. Saturn and Mars are on neither friend list: Graha Maitri 1 of 5. Rakshasa with Deva: Gana 0 of 6. Scorpio is the 10th sign from Aquarius: Bhakoot 7 of 7. Aadi with Madhya: Nadi 8 of 8. The total is 21.5 of 36, a Workable match, and Gana is named as the area needing most attention.

The numbers: Asha's Mulank is 6 (15 reduces to 6) and her Bhagyank 4 (the digits add to 31); Rohan's are 9 and 3 (30). Neither 6 with 9 nor 4 with 3 is on the harmony table, so the label is Needs effort. The Anti-Combination is neutral, Venus and Mars are neutral to each other in both directions, the Destiny Grade is C, the Wizard's Star total is 39 (Good, and it depends on the two invented names), and the Builder and the Communicator are on each other's challenging lists. Consensus: one favourable reading (the Ashtakoot at 60%), two unfavourable, four neutral - "2 of 7 systems raise caution".

The five pressure indicators are the Gana mismatch; Rohan's 7th lord Mercury in his 12th house; Rohan's Saturn in Sagittarius casting its 3rd aspect onto Asha's Moon; Asha's running Saturn Mahadasha, which lasts until July 2028 and rules both her 7th and her 8th; and Saturn with Rahu in her 7th house. The load of 7 lands just inside elevated. Her 7th-house term shows the arithmetic: Saturn's Shad Bala of 12.13 out of 20 gives a capability of 0.61, doubled to 1.22, less 0.70 for two malefics in the house, leaving 0.52 of 2. The same Saturn is counted as a plus in the stability index. The engine reports that two-sided reading as it stands; Saturn in the 7th house covers what the texts say about the placement.

The joint window is narrow for a reason. Rohan has one qualifying Antardasha in the eight-year horizon, his Jupiter period from March 2034 to November 2036: Jupiter aspects his 2nd house, counts as a karaka and is exalted, for a support of 0.55. It overlaps Asha's Venus period (November 2031 to September 2034, support 0.45) for six months. Her own next qualifying period is the Saturn Mahadasha itself, July 2009 to July 2028 - nineteen years, which is why Mahadashas are kept out of the joint list when anything finer exists. These are stretches where both charts support a commitment, not dates on which one happens.

Birth time, and what a missing one changes

With no birth time the chart is cast for 12:00 noon and the Ascendant, houses and Shad Bala are withheld. The Moon moves about half a degree an hour, so over a day it can change nakshatra and sometimes sign. The engine tests this directly: it recomputes each Moon at 00:00 and 23:59 and marks a koota as at risk when the input it reads - sign or nakshatra - differs between the two ends for either person. The response carries the result as a precision block. The free match tool prints it as a panel. On the signed-in screen, as of October 2026, the block is in the response and is not printed, so if either birth time is missing the free tool is where to see which kootas are unsettled. What still works without a birth time covers the general case.

Remove Rohan's birth time and the sample shows why this matters. The headline stays 21.5 of 36, because at noon his Moon is still in Anuradha. But the Moon crosses into Jyeshtha late that day, so Tara, Yoni, Gana and Nadi are flagged: 21 of the 36 points are unsettled and 15 are firm. A birth at 23:59 would score 19.5 - nearly the same total built the opposite way, with Gana at 6 and Nadi at 0. The weakest koota, and the first pressure indicator, would swap.

The deep read moves more than the headline. Rohan's houses are now counted from his Scorpio Moon, which puts his Mars in the 7th and fires a one-sided Mangal Dosha that the timed chart does not have. The pressure load goes from 7 to 10.5 (high), stability from 59 (solid) to 57 (workable with maintenance), and the joint windows change to July 2028 - March 2029 and March 2032 - September 2034, because his dasha dates swing by about three years across the day. A deep read with a missing birth time is a different reading, not a slightly blurred copy of the timed one.

Limits worth knowing

  • The Ashtakoot tables have no citation in the app's source library, and three kootas are flagged by the engine itself. Treat the 36-point total as this app's stated implementation, comparable with other tools only as far as the tables agree.
  • The scales are coarse. Nadi and Bhakoot are all or nothing and together hold 15 of the 36 points, so one nakshatra boundary can move the total by 8.
  • Positions come from the app's own astronomy code, not Swiss Ephemeris. The rules doc puts the Moon at roughly 0.1 to 0.3 degrees and says planetary positions are where a full ephemeris is needed, so a Moon close to a boundary, or a Jupiter ingress date, can differ from a printed panchang. See the methodology page.
  • Every 0 to 100 figure is an index of named terms, returned with those terms so it can be recomputed. None is a probability, and the engine says so in each block.
  • The Jaimini spouse significator, the Dara Karaka, is not used: the app's Char Karaka table follows the seven-role scheme that has no such role, so the Jaimini read comes from the Upa Pada alone.
  • Navamsa-to-Navamsa comparison and cancellation rules for a zeroed koota are not computed. If the engine does not name something above, it is not in the score.
  • No remedies are offered for any result. A low koota comes with a description and a practical habit, never a ritual, gemstone or donation.

Where to go from here

For a quick two-date score, use Kundli matching or Love compatibility, which share one engine with this page. To see the chart facts the deep read leans on, open your birth chart and read the Navamsa explainer. The numbers side continues on the Numerology feature. Choosing a date once a decision is made is a separate question, answered by the Muhurat feature, which has a Marriage activity. To talk a specific result through, the AI chat reads from the same computed charts.

Is 18 out of 36 a pass mark here?
No. The code has no pass mark. The verdict words change at 75%, 55% and 35% of the maximum - 27, 20 and 13 points for a Marriage reading - and the consensus count treats 55% and above as a favourable reading. Nothing in the engine or its sources sets 18 as a line, and nothing blocks or approves a match.
Why is my score different on another app?
Two causes. The Moons may differ: a different ayanamsa, time zone or birth time can move a Moon across a nakshatra boundary, which why apps disagree on your nakshatra explains. Or the tables differ: this engine uses a three-step scale for Gana, keeps 3 and 1 for the friend-enemy and neutral-enemy Graha Maitri cells where references disagree, and gives the Varna point in one direction only. Compare koota by koota rather than total by total.
Does it matter which of us is entered first?
Slightly. Varna is one-directional, so swapping the two people can move the total by one point: the sample pair scores 21.5 one way and 20.5 the other. The Anti-Combination, Graha Friendship and Wizard's Star lookups also start from the first person. The signed-in page always puts the account holder first and asks for no gender.
We have the same nakshatra. Is that good or bad?
The engine reads it both ways. Identical Moons score 28 of 36: every koota is full except Nadi, which is 0 because a shared nakshatra is a shared Nadi. In the deep read that zero appears as a pressure indicator of weight 1.5, and the shared birth star appears among the karmic markers as instinctive recognition with a shared blind spot.
Does the match check Mangal Dosha?
Not in the Guna Milan score, which reads the two Moons only. The deep read checks whether Mars is in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house for each person. In both charts it is listed as protective; in one chart only it is a pressure indicator of weight 1.5. Without a birth time the houses are counted from the Moon, which can change the answer. See what Mangal Dosha is and is not.
Can it tell me when I will get married?
No. It lists stretches where both people's dasha periods support a commitment, with start and end months taken from each Antardasha timeline, and the engine's own note says a chart can show when conditions favour a commitment and never that one will occur. If no overlap can be dated in the eight-year horizon, the card says so.
What does "elevated pressure" mean? Is it a breakup probability?
It is not a probability. It means the weights of the indicators that fired add up to between 6 and 10 on a scale the engine describes as its own editorial choice. In a test of 108 invented partners against one chart, none came out low and most came out elevated or high, so the band word says little. The list of named indicators, each with its placement, is the content.
Why is there no deep read for someone I typed in?
The deep read is a separate request that needs a saved profile for the second person, because it reads their whole chart rather than their Moon. Typed-in details are used for that one comparison only - the score and the numerology cross-checks. Saving the person as a profile and comparing again opens the rest.
