What these pages are

These are not the app itself - they describe the screen that opens once you have an account. Each one also carries a line on what that feature cannot do, because that is usually the most useful thing on the page.

Try a calculator before making an account

Three calculators run without signing in and give the whole answer, on the same engine that runs every feature here.

Every feature is open on every account right now, and no payment details are collected.

No birth details are collected on these pages - they are for reading only.

In depth

The cards above name the twelve features, and each has a page of its own that says what it computes, what it needs and what it does not know. This long read does the one thing no single feature page can: it shows how the twelve fit together - which of them read the same chart, which texts each system comes from, why the app prints so many different scores and never adds them up, and what a missing birth time does to each. The full statement of how positions are computed is on the methodology page, and the book-by-book list is on the sources page; neither is repeated here.

Every figure below was produced by running the server's own engines on the sample birth that every calculator page on this site uses - 14 August 1994, 06:42 IST, Ahmedabad - evaluated at 12:00 IST on 5 October 2026. It is not a real person. A second sample birth, 9 February 1993, 14:20 IST, Pune, appears only in the matching example. Where an engine declines to produce a number, this page says so as well.

One calculation, read twelve ways

Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra sets out the raw material in a few lines. Ch. 3, Sl. 4-6 says the grahas are the bodies that move through the 27 nakshatras, that the same belt is divided into 12 rashis starting from Mesha, that the rashi rising in the east is the Lagna, and that results are judged from the Lagna and the grahas. Sl. 8-9 adds how to obtain them: the positions for the given time are taken from observation-based calculation (Drikganit), and the Lagna from the rising durations of the rashis at the place of birth. A moment and a place - nothing else goes in.

The engine follows the same order. Your birth place is resolved to coordinates, from a bundled city list first and a geocoding lookup second; if neither finds it, no coordinates are invented and the form asks for a nearby town instead. The place's timezone gives the offset that applied on that date, with +5:30 as the fallback, and date, time and offset become one UTC instant. From that instant the code computes tropical longitudes for the Sun, the Moon and the five visible planets, subtracts the Lahiri ayanamsa to put them on the sidereal zodiac, takes Rahu as the Moon's mean node and sets Ketu exactly opposite. Each of the nine is then described by sign, degree, nakshatra and pada. A planet is flagged retrograde when its longitude half a day after the birth is behind its longitude half a day before, and combust when it lies within a fixed distance of the Sun, from 10° for Venus to 17° for Mars.

Only if a birth time was given does the code go on to the Ascendant, and from it to twelve whole-sign houses: the rising sign is the 1st house, the next sign the 2nd, and so on, with no cusp degrees. Last, the Vimshottari timeline is laid out from the Moon's position inside its nakshatra. That bundle - nine placements, an optional Ascendant with its houses, and a dated dasha timeline - is produced by one function, and every chart-reading feature takes what it needs from it. You can cast the same bundle without an account on the free birth chart tool.

Numerology is the deliberate exception. It reads the calendar date you typed and the name on your profile, not the UTC instant, because a birth before 05:30 IST falls on the previous day in UTC and would shift every number by one. The table shows what each feature takes from the chart and what it brings in from outside it.

Three things follow from the table. First, the birth details are entered once and every chart-reading feature moves with them, so correcting a birth time changes the Kundali, the dasha dates, the decision scores and the daily house count together. Second, a number that appears on two screens is the same number: the Shad Bala a graha shows in the Kundali is the figure the Decision Engine, Career and Money, Daily Guidance and Life Blueprint all read, not a second estimate. Third, three features do not depend on the birth time at all - Numerology, Prashna and your track record - which matters when the time is unknown.

Where each system comes from

Twelve features do not mean twelve sources. They fall into five families, and each family rests on different books - or, in two places, on no book in this app's library at all, which the code records instead of hiding.

The chart, its divisions and its strengths

BPHS Ch. 6, Sl. 2-4 names sixteen divisions of a rashi, from the Rashi chart itself through Hora, Drekkana and Navamsa down to Shashtiamsa, and Ch. 7, Sl. 1-8 gives each a subject: the body from the Lagna, wealth from the Hora, the spouse from the Navamsa, power and position from the Dashamsa, parents from the Dwadashamsa. The Kundali screen computes the fifteen beyond the Rashi chart, and each has a public calculator - the Navamsa and the Dashamsa are the two other features lean on most.

The houses come from BPHS Ch. 11, Sl. 2-13, which lists what is judged from each bhava: wealth from the 2nd (Sl. 3), spouse and trade from the 7th (Sl. 8), profession and honour from the 10th (Sl. 11), income from the 11th (Sl. 12). The Decision Engine's six life areas are a direct reading of that list - career from the 10th, money from the 2nd, love from the 7th, business from the 11th, a general question from the 1st. For health it uses the 6th, under which the Daivajna Vallabha's second chapter lists ill health. That row is a timing read on routine and strain; it is not medical advice.

Strength is where the app is most openly a simplification. BPHS Ch. 27 defines Shad Bala as six strengths - positional, directional, temporal, motional, natural and aspectual - computed for the seven grahas from the Sun to Saturn, with the nodes left out, and measured in virupas through a long chain of sub-strengths. The engine keeps the six headings and the seven grahas but scores them on a condensed 20-point scale - up to 10 for position, 4 for direction, 3 for aspect, and 1 each for natural rank, motion and time - whose layout its code attributes to S. Kannan's handbook and whose interpolations it marks as its own. Because the nodes are left out, Rahu and Ketu never carry a Shad Bala anywhere in the product. The Shad Bala calculator shows the six components for each graha.

Time: the hour hand and the minute hand

BPHS Ch. 46, Sl. 2-5 says there are many kinds of dasha and names Vimshottari as the most appropriate for people in general; Sl. 12-15 gives the nine lords and their years, 120 in all, and Sl. 16 the balance left at birth from how far the Moon has travelled through its nakshatra. One timeline built on that rule feeds Dasha Timing, the Decision Engine, Career and Money, the daily graha scores and the chat. If the idea is new, what a Mahadasha actually is covers it first.

Advanced Predictive Astrology, a modern casebook, puts the two clocks in one image: dasha results are the hour hand and transit results the minute hand. The features divide along that line. Timing, Decisions and Career and Money read the hour hand, which is why their answers hold still for months or years. Daily Guidance and Muhurat read the minute hand - where the Moon is today, against your chart - which is why theirs change every couple of days. BPHS itself opens its Ashtakavarga chapters (Ch. 66, Sl. 1-4) with a request for a method of judging from the positions of the grahas in transit, and the Kundali's Gochara and Sade Sati panels are the transit layer of the chart screen.

The question and the moment

Prashna comes from a different shelf. The Daivajna Vallabha, attributed to Varahamihira, is a text on answering a question from the chart of the moment it is asked. Its opening chapter (Sl. 2) holds that a reading goes right when the ten avasthas - states - of the planets and the results of the houses are weighed carefully, and Sl. 3-8 define those states - Diptha for a planet in exaltation, Swastha in its own sign, Dina in debilitation, Mushita when it is lost in the Sun's light, and so on. Its second chapter lists what each of the twelve houses stands for in a query. The engine implements six of the fifteen chapters and six of the ten states, and its header says what was left out and why.

Muhurat has the thinnest textual footing in this library, and that is better said than left implied. The tithi is plain astronomy - the Moon's distance from the Sun in 12° steps, thirty to a lunar month - and the weighting of the bright half over the dark follows the classical view BPHS Ch. 3, Sl. 11 records, which counts a waning Moon among the malefics. But the nakshatras favoured for each activity, the tithis avoided and the Rahu Kaal order are carried in the code as customary almanac conventions, without a chapter-and-verse citation; the Rahu Kaal sequence was checked against a published almanac for all seven weekdays. The Panchang, Choghadiya, Rahu Kaal and Hora calculators expose the same day-level tables on their own.

Matching

Ashtakoot, or Guna Milan, scores eight kootas worth 36 points, all taken from the two Moons - four from the Moon signs and four from the Moon nakshatras. The engine's own header is blunt about its footing: none of the texts this codebase works from - BPHS, Saravali, Bhrigu Sutras, Advanced Predictive Astrology, the Daivajna Vallabha - contains the Ashtakoot tables, so they are the widely used convention, held unchanged until a citable source is added. The one part checked against a text is the grouping of signs used by the Varna koota, which follows the descriptions of the rashis in BPHS Ch. 4. That is the honest status of the number on the Compatibility page, and of the same number on the free matching tool.

Numbers

The numerology engines are built from the nine numerology books in this app's library, which do not agree with each other and are not made to. The two numbers other features borrow are the simplest. Advanced Vedic Numerology defines the Moolank as the birth day alone, reduced to a single digit, and the Destiny Number, or Bhagyank, as the total of the full birth date, and it separates them as one's nature and what happens to one. Vedic Numerology Basic gives each digit a ruling graha - its slide for the number 4 names Rahu - and that is the hinge Life Blueprint uses to join the numbers to the chart. The Lo Shu grid follows Numerology Masters Notes: the digits of the birth date are placed on a fixed three-by-three template and zero is ignored. Mulank, Bhagyank and Life Path sorts out the three names, and the numerology tool runs the core numbers without an account.

The scales, side by side - and why they are never added together

A reader who opens several features in one sitting meets a 0-20, three different 0-100s, a 1-10, a 36 and a set of verdict words. They are not interchangeable, and the fastest way to misread the product is to treat a 62 on one screen as the same thing as a 62 on another. The table collects every scale, with the cut points as the code has them.

Every scale a reader can meet across the twelve features, with cut points read from the engine code.

The Decision row repays a second look, because its two terms are so unequal. The Mahadasha term is worth 60 when the running lord sits in exaltation, moolatrikona or its own sign in your birth chart, 0 when it is debilitated, in an enemy's sign, or placed in the 6th, 8th or 12th house, and 30 otherwise. The house ruler adds at most 40. So under a Mahadasha that reads challenging, no life area can score above 40 and a YES is out of reach until the Mahadasha changes; under one that reads good, the floor is 60 and a NO cannot occur. In the middle case a YES needs the house ruler at 17.25 of 20 Shad Bala or better. None of this is hidden on the Decision Engine page, which prints both terms, but it explains why the verdict can sit still for years.

The Timing row shares that score but not its cut points. A window turns green at 60 while the verdict turns to YES at 65, so a score from 60 to 64 is a green window whose verdict still reads WAIT: the colour and the word are two readings of one number.

The engines also refuse, in three separate places, to merge unlike things into one figure. The track-record code reports its three tracks apart, on the stated ground that their average would be one flattering number that means nothing. Life Blueprint returns chart strength and the list of doshas present side by side and will not blend Shad Bala points with a count. Timing's ten-year outlook sets each year's dasha phase beside its Personal Year and marks agreement without averaging. The public Convergence tool is the one place the two systems are put on a single three-word scale, and when they disagree it takes the more cautious of the two and names the split - a rule that belongs to that page alone. When astrology and numerology disagree about your year works through a case.

One sample chart, followed through the features

A map is easier to trust with a route drawn on it. Here is the sample birth carried through eight of the twelve features, every figure taken from the engines as run for 12:00 IST on 5 October 2026.

The chart everything reads

The Ascendant is Leo at 2°20', in Magha. The Moon is in Libra at 24°38', in Vishakha pada 2, in the 3rd house with Jupiter and Rahu. The Sun and Mercury are both in Cancer in the 12th, Mercury combust; Venus is in Virgo in the 2nd, Mars in Gemini in the 11th, Saturn retrograde in Aquarius in the 7th, Ketu in Aries in the 9th. A Vishakha Moon opens life in a Jupiter Mahadasha, which here ran to January 2005; Saturn followed until January 2024, and Mercury runs from then until January 2041, with Ketu next. On the 20-point scale Saturn scores 17.63 (Strong), the Sun 12.29, the Moon 9.58 and Mars 8.08 (Medium), Mercury 6.21, Venus 5.29 and Jupiter 4.17 (Weak). Those seven numbers reappear in every section below. For background on the pieces, see Vishakha, the Moon in Vedic astrology and the Mercury Mahadasha.

The hour hand: Decisions and Timing

Mercury, the running Mahadasha lord, is in Cancer - a neutral sign on the engine's dignity ladder - but in the 12th house, so the Mahadasha term is 0 of 60. Every area's score is therefore just its house ruler's share of 40.

Timing then re-scores the same areas at each dasha boundary ahead. For this chart the next seven are Antardasha changes inside the Mercury Mahadasha, from June 2027 to May 2038, and since the Mahadasha lord does not change, career stays at 11 and love at 35: every window through 2038 is red. The first boundary that moves anything is the start of the Ketu Mahadasha in January 2041, where the Mahadasha term becomes 30. Love rises to 65 - green, and a YES - and career only to 41, still red. This is the flat case the Timing page's own honesty line describes.

The minute hand: Daily Guidance and Muhurat

On 5 October 2026 the Moon is in Cancer, in Pushya - the 12th sign from this Leo Ascendant. The 12th house carries a base of 4 on the engine's table (the 5th, 9th and 11th carry 9; the 8th carries 3). Personal Day 2 is not one of the six supporting day numbers, which takes off 0.6, and the dark fortnight takes off 0.3: an energy score of 3.1, labelled low energy - conserve. Two days later the Moon has moved into Leo, the 1st house, and the score is 7.1; on 8 October, with a Personal Day of 5, it is 8.7. The per-graha scores for the 5th run from Saturn at 8.3 (strong Shad Bala, a favourable transit from the natal Moon, less one point for being retrograde) down to Venus at 0.6. The named state is Confusion Day, because the first test in the list is three or more grahas retrograde - a count that includes Rahu and Ketu, which the engine always marks retrograde, alongside Venus and Saturn that day.

Muhurat, asked for a business launch at the same moment, scored 133 windows across 45 days (two of that day's three had already closed) and rated 2 Excellent, 16 Good and 115 Usable with care. The top window was Sunday 11 October, 9:15 to 10:45 AM IST, at 82: the base of 34, plus 16 for the Moon in Chitra, 14 for the Moon in the 2nd house from the Leo Ascendant, 5 for a tithi off the avoided list, 7 for the bright fortnight and 5 for Personal Day 8, plus a tie-break of under two points for the Moon's position within its nakshatra. Sunday is not on the favoured-weekday list for a launch, so that 7 was not earned. The two features share the same Moon, the same Ascendant as house anchor and the same Personal Day rule: the afternoon window on the 5th itself, with the Moon in the 12th, scored 35.

Matching, a question, and the numbers

Set against the second sample, whose Moon is in Virgo in Uttara Phalguni, the eight kootas come out as Varna 1 of 1, Vashya 2 of 2, Tara 1.5 of 3, Yoni 0 of 4, Graha Maitri 5 of 5, Gana 3 of 6, Bhakoot 0 of 7 and Nadi 8 of 8. As a marriage match that is 20.5 of 36, or 57%, a Workable match, with Yoni named as the weakest link. As a business match only Tara, Graha Maitri, Gana and Bhakoot count: 9.5 of 21, or 45%, Mixed - proceed with awareness, with Bhakoot named instead. Same two people, same eight koota scores, a different band - because the 21-point set leaves out the pair's full-marks Nadi and keeps its zero on Bhakoot. The numerology line beside it reads Workable: the two Mulanks harmonise on the engine's table and the two Bhagyanks do not.

A general yes-or-no Prashna asked at that same instant, at the Ahmedabad coordinates saved with the birth details, casts a chart with Scorpio rising in Jyeshtha and the Moon in Cancer. The ascendant lord, Mars, is debilitated in Cancer - the Dina state - which counts as minus 2. Four benefics outside the 6th house add 4; the Sun in the 11th and Ketu in the 10th add 2, and Mars, Saturn and Rahu elsewhere take off 3. Net plus 1: Mixed signals. Nothing from the birth chart entered that answer.

The numbers come from the date alone. The 14th gives Mulank 5; the digits of 14-8-1994 sum to 36, so Bhagyank 9. The Lo Shu grid holds 1, 4 and 9 twice and 8 once, with 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 missing (what a missing number is and is not). The Personal Year in 2026 is 14 + 8 + 2026 = 2048, reduced to 5. Life Blueprint then makes its one join: Mulank 5 is ruled by Mercury, and Mercury in this chart is the combust, 12th-house graha at 6.21 of 20 that is also running the Mahadasha. Its chart-strength index, the average of the seven Shad Bala percentages, is 45 - Mixed - with the one dosha the engine finds present listed beside it, not folded in. Career and Money ranks the Sun first - it rules the Dashamsa Ascendant and is the Amatya Karaka - ahead of Venus, the 10th lord, and Saturn, the strongest graha, on the same three Shad Bala figures.

What a missing or wrong birth time does to each feature

BPHS's translator notes, after Ch. 3, Sl. 7, that a rashi takes roughly two hours to rise, so each degree of the Ascendant takes about four minutes, varying with latitude. The Moon is slower but still moves: the code's own note puts it at about 0.55° an hour, so an assumed noon can be up to 6.6° out, against a nakshatra only 13°20' wide. Across a whole day the Moon covers about 13°, so it changes nakshatra on nearly every date and sign on a little under half of them. The sample shows each effect in real numbers.

  • Eleven minutes. At 06:42 the Ascendant is 2°20' into Leo. Run the same birth at 06:31 and it is still in Cancer. Every house renumbers: the transiting Moon on 5 October falls in the 1st house instead of the 12th, and the day's energy score is 7.1 instead of 3.1. Love moves from WAIT at 35 to NO at 34 and health from WAIT at 35 to NO at 7, because different grahas now rule those houses.
  • Half an hour. Thirty minutes of birth time moves the Moon about 0.3°, and for this chart, which opens in Jupiter's 16-year period, that shifts every Mahadasha boundary by about four months: the Mercury period starts in January 2024 for a 06:42 birth and in May 2024 for a 06:12 one.
  • No time at all. Noon is assumed. The Ascendant, the houses and Shad Bala are withheld, and the Mercury Mahadasha is dated from April 2020 instead of January 2024. On this date the engine's two-ended test - it recomputes the chart at 00:00 and at 23:59 - finds that the Moon changes sign during the day, Libra early and Scorpio late, and that the running Mahadasha is Saturn at one end and Mercury at the other. The note names both; it does not pick one.

Behaviour without a birth time, as the engines and each feature page state it.

The finer the division, the less error it forgives. A Moon sign survives most uncertainty; a house does not survive a quarter of an hour near a boundary; the Navamsa and the Ascendant's sub-lord want the time to the minute. What an unknown birth time actually costs goes through the same ground from the reader's side.

How the features hand off to one another

The registry behind this page is ordered by hand: the chart first, because every other feature reads from it, and the track record last, because it only means something once the rest have produced claims worth checking. In between, three hand-offs are worth knowing.

  • AI Life Chat does not form its own opinion on a decision. A question it reads as a decision is sent to the Decision Engine, and the reply quotes that verdict and its score.
  • Muhurat picks up where Timing stops. Timing can say that a period is workable; Muhurat ranks ninety-minute windows inside the next 45 days for one of six activities. Daily Guidance, for its part, recomputes nothing: it reuses Shad Bala from the Kundali, the Gochara verdicts counted from the natal Moon, and the running dasha lords from the timeline.
  • Your track record closes the loop. It reads three kinds of entry you make elsewhere - reactions to insights on the Kundali's Intelligence tab, ratings of Timing's phase readings, and outcomes recorded against Decision Engine verdicts - and a decision with no outcome recorded is left out, not counted as a miss.

Which page answers which question

What none of the twelve will do

  • Date an event. A window marks when the conditions the chart describes differ, not when something happens. Compatibility's stretches are windows of support, not wedding dates, and Career and Money prints no amounts and no returns.
  • Prescribe something to buy or perform. No gemstones, mantras, rituals or donations appear in any of the twelve. The numerology code once carried a gemstone and a deity in its favourables list; both were removed, and an automated check fails if either returns.
  • Diagnose. The health labels on the Decision Engine and the dashboard are readings of timing and routine. They are not medical advice.
  • Know where you are. Muhurat prints its windows in IST on a day that starts at a fixed 06:00, because the profile holds where you were born and not where the event will be, and Prashna casts its chart at the coordinates saved with your birth details.
  • Give one overall score. There is no single number for a chart, a person or a year anywhere in the product.

Trying it before making an account

The twelve features need an account because they work on a stored chart and on things you log over time. The engine underneath does not. The three free tools and every calculator in the calculator library call the same server code without signing in, so the Moon sign, the dasha dates or the Ashtakoot score you get there is the one the signed-in feature would show for the same inputs. If a number here disagrees with a printed panchang or another app, why two apps give you two different nakshatras is the place to start. How birth details are handled once you do sign up is set out on the privacy page.

Questions people ask about the features

Where should I start if I have never used any of this?
With the Kundali, for the reason the hub puts it first: every other chart-reading feature takes its inputs from it, so checking that the Ascendant, the Moon sign and the nakshatra look right checks the foundation of all of them. Then open Timing to see which Mahadasha you are in. Without an account, the free birth chart tool gives the same placements.
Why do two features seem to say different things about the same week?
Usually because they are reading different clocks. Timing and the Decision Engine score the running Mahadasha, which changes over years; Daily Guidance and Muhurat score where the Moon is, which changes every two or three days. In the sample chart a NO on a career decision and an Excellent launch window six days later are both correct readings of their own inputs. The app shows both and does not average them.
Which features work if I do not know my birth time?
Numerology, Prashna and the track record are unaffected. Compatibility still scores the Ashtakoot and names the points that are unsettled. Kundali, Timing, Daily Guidance, Muhurat and Life Blueprint run in a reduced form from an assumed noon and say what was withheld. The Decision Engine and Career and Money withhold their results entirely. The article on unknown birth times goes through the cost in detail.
Is the AI Life Chat a language model?
Not by default. As shipped, replies are assembled by the app's own rule-based engine from values already computed for your profile, so the same question gets the same wording. A deployment can be switched to a language model, in which case the model writes wording only and each reply's note says so. The methodology page sets out the line between the two.
Does the app use Swiss Ephemeris?
No. The Sun and the Moon come from Meeus's formulae and the planets from JPL orbital elements, shifted by a Lahiri ayanamsa. The project's own rules document puts the Moon's error at roughly 0.1° to 0.3°, small beside a 13°20' nakshatra but not beside the half-degree bands of the Shashtiamsa, so the finest divisional charts and anything on a boundary can read differently elsewhere. The same document names Swiss Ephemeris as the intended source of truth.
Will any feature tell me to buy a gemstone or perform a ritual?
No. Nothing in the twelve prescribes gemstones, mantras, rituals or donations. Where a page suggests something to do, it is a choice of timing or of behaviour - which weekday, which window, which decision to hold.
How would I know whether the readings were right for me?
By logging and then looking. React to insights, rate Timing's description of a period you have lived through, and record how a decision turned out; the track record page reports each of those three separately once it has five entries, and shows a poor rate as plainly as a good one. It cannot verify what you enter, and it says so.
Can I ask Prashna the same question twice?
The Daivajna Vallabha asks that a query be put once (first chapter, Sl. 9-10). The app does not compare a new question with earlier ones, but a second ask casts a new chart for a new moment, so it is a different reading and not a second opinion on the first. The last twenty questions stay in a log, so the earlier answer can be reopened instead.
