In short
Yogini Dasha is a dasha of eight periods named after eight Yoginis, lasting 1 to 8 years each, which BPHS Ch. 46 describes in Sl. 195-199. The same chapter lists Yogini among the dashas Parashara calls not appropriate. This app does not compute Yogini Dasha; it computes Vimshottari and ten other BPHS systems.
What the term means
Yogini Dasha is a dasha system in which a life is divided into eight periods, each named after one of eight Yoginis and each tied to a graha. It is started from the Moon's birth nakshatra, like Vimshottari, but its periods are short: the longest is eight years.
Where the term comes from
BPHS treats Yogini twice in Ch. 46. In Sl. 6-11 it is one name in a long list of dashas "propagated by the sages", Char, Sthir, Yogini, Pind and others, after which Parashara says that in his view "all these Dashas are not appropriate". Later, in Sl. 195-199, he describes it anyway, "as described by Lord Mahadeva": the eight Yoginis are Mangal, Pingal, Dhanya, Bhramari, Bhadrika, Ulka, Siddha and Sankat; the Moon, Sun, Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Venus and Rahu are "born from them"; add 3 to the birth nakshatra and divide by 8 to find the first; the periods run 1 to 8 years; and the balance at birth is worked out as for the other dashas. Advanced Predictive Astrology (Vol. II) names Yogini as one of four dasha systems a practitioner should know at least two of.
How this app uses it
This app does not compute Yogini Dasha, and no page shows Yogini periods for a chart. One related system is computed: BPHS Ch. 46 Sl. 42-43 gives Shat-trimshat-sama the same eight lords in the same order with the same 1 to 8 years, but counts from Shravana to the birth nakshatra instead of adding 3. The alternate dashas calculator returns Shat-trimshat-sama with its starting lord and balance. Its long-form, and the Timing feature's, quote the BPHS list in which Yogini appears.
