In short
The Sarvashtakavarga is the combined Ashtakavarga: the seven grahas' benefic points added together for each sign or house. Unreduced, the twelve totals always sum to 337. BPHS reads more than 30 points as favourable and fewer than 25 as adverse; this app instead compares each house with the chart's own average.
What the term means
Sarvashtakavarga means "the whole Ashtakavarga". Each graha has its own Ashtakavarga table of bindus by sign; adding the seven tables sign by sign gives one figure per sign, or per house once the Ascendant is placed. Because every graha's table holds a fixed number of points whatever the chart, the twelve unreduced totals always add up to 337.
Where the term comes from
BPHS Ch. 72 Sl. 1-2 calls it the Samuday, or "aggregational", AshtakaVarg, made by writing the total of all the grahas' points into each sign of the birth chart. Sl. 3-6 reads it: a sign or house with more than 30 points gives favourable effects, 25 to 30 medium, fewer than 25 adverse, and auspicious work is timed for when the relevant graha, the Moon above all, moves into a high-scoring sign.
How this app uses it
- The engine reports the unreduced total for each house from the Ascendant, and checks that the twelve add to 337.
- Its house ranking does not use BPHS's fixed 30 and 25. It calls a house strong at 1.15 times the chart's own average or more, and weak at 0.85 times or less. Transit readings use the same thresholds for the house a moving graha occupies.
- The career and money calculator compares a house's points with a classical average of 28.
- A reduced total, after Ekadhipatya shodhana, is also computed for the full chart reading.
A small illustration
For 19 January 1985, 11:14 IST, New Delhi, the houses from the 1st to the 12th hold 25, 25, 32, 25, 23, 33, 27, 33, 32, 31, 25 and 26 points: 337 in all. The chart's average is 28.1, so the engine ranks the 6th and 8th houses (33 each) strong and the 5th (23) weak. By BPHS's fixed lines, five houses (the 3rd, 6th, 8th, 9th and 10th) clear 30.

What it needs
Date, time and place
That is more than this article asks for - it only ever takes a date, and sometimes a time, and never a name or a birth place. So this one runs on its own page, which asks for exactly what it needs and stores none of it.
