The 12th house is Vyaya Bhava, the house of expenditure, the last of the twelve and one of the three dusthanas. It is also the house most often linked with Ketu in modern writing, as a placement of release or liberation. The books are more divided and more specific than that. The shared Bhrigu sutra gives one short line; Phaldeepika and Chamatkar Chintamani read a 12th-house Ketu in opposite ways; BPHS puts a Ketu period from the 12th in its difficult group; and the classical line about Ketu and full enlightenment concerns the 12th from the Karakamsa, a different count from a different starting point.
This page describes rules, not a person. See also Ketu in Vedic astrology, the 12th house, Vyaya Bhava, Rahu in the 12th house and Rahu in the 6th house; the Birth Chart calculator shows your Ketu's house.
A note on sources
Every classical line here was checked against the books: the Bhrigu Sutras (Part II Ch. 8, p. 114, and its Comments, pp. 114-115), Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS), Saravali, S. S. Chatterjee's Advanced Predictive Astrology Vol. II and Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara. Phaldeepika and Chamatkar Chintamani are cited as the Bhrigu Sutras quote them. Ketu is the thinner node in these sources: the Bhrigu Sutras give both nodes one shared set of sutras, Saravali has no node-in-house verse, and the only lines written for Ketu alone in this house are Phaldeepika's and Chamatkar Chintamani's.
The 12th house in brief
BPHS Ch. 11 Sl. 13 defines the house in half a sloka: from Vyaya Bhava one knows "expenses, history of enemies, one's own death etc." Saravali, which gives most houses two names, gives this one only Vyaya (Ch. 3 Sl. 26-27). Foreign lands, sleep, hospitals and spirituality are not in the primary definition. Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara's list of Parashara's significations (pp. 116-117) adds emancipation, which is the door through which the modern Ketu reading enters. In whole-sign houses the 12th is the sign that rose just before birth.
BPHS Ch. 32 Sl. 35-37 group the 6th, 8th and 12th as trikas and say "Association with Trikas will inflict evils", while kendras and konas turn even evil into auspiciousness. Ketu is in the malefic list of Ch. 3 Sl. 11, and Sl. 30 says only that "Ketu is akin to Rahu". So a natural malefic sits in a malefic house, outside the kendras and konas that soften one.
The Bhrigu sutra, shared with Rahu
The translator says it at the head of Part II Ch. 8 (p. 109): the author gives the same effects for Rahu and Ketu in every house, presumably because they are always seventh from each other, while the other authorities give separate effects. The 12th-house block (p. 114) is headed "Rahu or Ketu in the Twelfth House". Its Sutras 31-32 make three statements: few children, eye troubles, and a verdict about the state after death. The last is the text's, named here and not applied. None of them is Ketu's alone, and everything said about them on the Rahu page applies word for word here.
What the other views say about Ketu in the 12th
| Source | Ketu in the 12th | Rahu in the 12th (for contrast) |
|---|---|---|
| Bhrigu Sutras, Sutras 31-32 (shared) | Few children; eye troubles; an afterlife verdict | The same sutra |
| Phaldeepika, as quoted in the Bhrigu Sutras (p. 114) | Commits sins secretly, spends for evil purposes; eye troubles | Wasteful expenditure, sinful deeds |
| Chamatkar Chintamani, as quoted in the Bhrigu Sutras (p. 114) | "Like a king"; spends on charities; enemies vanquished; eye troubles | Poor, unsuccessful in undertakings, friendship with evil-minded people |
| Saravali Ch. 30 | No verse for either node | No verse |
Read in full, the Ketu lines share one thing the shorter summaries miss: the eye. It is in the shared sutra, in Phaldeepika's Ketu line and in Chamatkar Chintamani's Ketu line, three of three. The Rahu lines in the same block do not repeat it. That is the most consistent single statement the books make about this placement, and it is a classical body association, reported as the texts give it, not medical advice.
On the house's own subject, spending, the two Ketu lines diverge. Phaldeepika reads secret wrongdoing and expenditure for evil purposes. Chamatkar Chintamani makes the person like a king who spends on charities and whose enemies are vanquished. The same outflow is waste in one text and generosity in the other. Chamatkar Chintamani also treats the two nodes very differently in this house, the harder line going to Rahu; that is one author's distinction, not one the Bhrigu sutra makes.
Saravali's silence
The Bhrigu Sutras note under the 1st house that Brihat Jatak and Saravali "have not dealt with" the nodes in the houses. The corpus bears it out: Saravali Ch. 30, the chapter on the grahas in the bhavas, has no verse for Ketu or Rahu. Its only node-by-house rule, in Ch. 12 on evils cancelled at birth, names Rahu in the 3rd, 6th or 11th with benefic aspect. That rule is about Rahu, so it does not transfer to Ketu, and this page does not fill the gap.
BPHS on the 12th house, as it bears on Ketu
- Ch. 23 Sl. 1-4: expenses "on good accounts" if the 12th lord is with a benefic, in its own house or exalted, or if a benefic occupies the 12th. Ketu is not a benefic, so the occupancy clause cannot be met by Ketu.
- Sl. 5-6: troubled by expenses and without general happiness if the 12th lord is in the 6th or 8th, or in an enemy's or debilitation Navamsa.
- Sl. 9-10: the afterlife pair. Sl. 9 names Rahu, not Ketu; Sl. 10 gives final emancipation for a benefic in the 12th with an exalted or well-associated lord. Neither is about Ketu, and the app applies neither.
- Sl. 11-12: wandering "from country to country" with malefics on the 12th and its lord, staying in one's own country with benefics. Ketu is a malefic, so it supplies part of the malefic case.
- Sl. 13: earnings "through sinful measures" if Saturn or Mars "etc." occupy the 12th without benefic aspect. Whether Ketu is in the "etc." is not stated.
- Sl. 14: expenses on religious grounds if the Lagna lord is in the 12th and the 12th lord is in the Lagna with Venus.
So the one 12th-house sloka in BPHS that speaks of emancipation asks for a benefic in the house. A lone Ketu does not satisfy it. A benefic joined with Ketu in the 12th would satisfy the occupancy half, with the lord's condition still to check.
The enlightenment line: the 12th from the Karakamsa
The line most often quoted for Ketu and liberation is BPHS Ch. 33 Sl. 63-74, "Effects of the 12th from Karakamsa". The count starts from the Karakamsa, the Navamsa sign of the Atma Karaka, not from the Lagna. As printed in this translation, the passage runs in this order:
- A benefic in the 12th from the Karakamsa gives expenses on good account, a malefic bad expenses, and an empty 12th also good effects.
- A benefic exalted or in its own sign there, or Ketu there with a benefic's aspect or conjunction, gives a heaven verdict after death. Named only.
- "Full enlightenment" if Ketu is in the 12th identical with Aries or Sagittarius and receives a benefic's aspect; not, if Ketu there is aspected by or joined with a malefic.
- A series of worship clauses for Ketu with the Sun, Moon, Venus or Mars, for Ketu alone, for Rahu and for Saturn. These are statements about devotion to particular deities; this page does not reproduce them and the app issues no such verdict.
Two corrections to how this line is usually reported. The translation says "full enlightenment", not moksha or liberation in general. And Ketu is not the hinge of every clause: the passage begins with benefics and malefics in general, and Rahu and Saturn have clauses of their own. What is Ketu's alone is the narrow enlightenment clause, which needs a specific sign and a benefic aspect, counted from the Karakamsa. A Ketu in the 12th from the Lagna meets it only if the Karakamsa happens to be the Lagna sign. The 12th from Karakamsa calculator finds that 12th and reports the clauses; it issues no verdict on anyone's liberation.
Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara gives the general version of the theme. Ketu "stands for hardships and isolation", and if well placed gives "a spiritual and meditative influence", inclining the person towards renunciation and emancipation (pp. 83-84). It says nothing about Ketu in any particular house. Its two halves are close to the app's two strings for this house, discussed below.
Rahu in the 6th: the other half of this placement
Ketu and Rahu stand at the same degree of opposite signs, so in this app's whole-sign houses a Ketu in the 12th always has Rahu in the 6th. BPHS Ch. 26 Sl. 2-5 give every graha a full aspect on the 7th from itself and special aspects only to Saturn, Jupiter and Mars, and the engine follows that. Ketu's single aspect therefore falls on the 6th, on Rahu. Both nodes sit in dusthanas, the house of expenditure and the house of enemies. Because the Bhrigu Sutras use one set of sutras for both nodes, the sutra for Rahu in the 6th is the same text as the sutra for Ketu in the 6th; Rahu in the 6th house takes that side, and Ketu in the 6th house the reverse arrangement.
Counted the other way, a Ketu in the 12th is aspected by any planet sitting with Rahu in the 6th, by Mars from the 5th or 9th house of the chart, by Jupiter from the 4th or 8th, and by Saturn from the 3rd or 10th. Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara would add Ketu's own 3rd and 10th aspects, which from the 12th land on the 2nd and 9th; this app does not use them.
The axis is uneven in the Dasha texts. BPHS Ch. 48 Sl. 18-20 bracket the 3rd, 6th and 11th as houses where Rahu and Ketu give favourable results, so the Rahu at the 6th end sits in a good house for its period, while the Ketu at the 12th end sits in Ch. 47's difficult group, below.
Whose agent is it? Ketu and the lord of the 12th
Ketu owns no sign in this app's tables, and BPHS Ch. 34 Sl. 16 says the nodes give predominantly the effects of the Bhava lord they join or of the Bhava they occupy. The Comments that close the Bhrigu Sutras chapter (pp. 114-115) report "a strong school of thought" with a sharper order: a node acts for the planet it is conjoined with; failing that, for a planet aspecting it; only when it is neither joined nor aspected does it represent the lord of the house it occupies. Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara's rule 10 (p. 142) says the same in one line. For a lone Ketu in the 12th, that lord is the 12th lord itself.
- Uttara Kalamrita, as the Bhrigu Sutras summarise it (point 3): the nodes turn auspicious in a trikona or kendra, or with the lord of the kendra or kona they occupy, or conjoined with any kendra or kona lord. In the 12th only the last route is open: Ketu joined by a kendra or kona lord.
- BPHS Ch. 48 Sl. 14-17: the Dasha of a 6th, 8th or 12th lord becomes favourable when associated with the lord of a trikona. That is a test of the lord Ketu stands for.
- Chatterjee's aphorism 22 (Vol. II, p. 124): nodes in the 6th, 8th or 12th from their dispositors give very bad results. Counted from the 12th lord, not the Lagna.
- Chatterjee's aphorisms 13 and 16 (p. 124): a planet in close company of a node gives poor results in its Dasha, and the Dasha of a planet closely conjunct Ketu in the 8th or 12th is bad. That is a warning about a planet joining Ketu here.
- Chatterjee's own observation (p. 101): a 12th lord in a movable sign, heavily afflicted, in his example by Ketu, Rahu, Saturn and Mars, goes with leaving the birthplace for good. One author's observation about the 12th lord.
| Rising sign | Ketu in | Lord of that sign | Rahu in | What the texts attach to that sign for Ketu |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aries | Pisces | Jupiter | Virgo | Own sign ("some sages" in BPHS Ch. 47; Sanketnidhi) |
| Taurus | Aries | Mars | Libra | Lord of Aries (Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara); holds Ashwini |
| Gemini | Taurus | Venus | Scorpio | Debilitated (Uttara Kalamrita; Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara) |
| Cancer | Gemini | Mercury | Sagittarius | Debilitated (Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara) |
| Leo | Cancer | Moon | Capricorn | - |
| Virgo | Leo | Sun | Aquarius | Holds Magha |
| Libra | Virgo | Mercury | Pisces | Moolatrikona (Uttara Kalamrita) |
| Scorpio | Libra | Venus | Aries | - |
| Sagittarius | Scorpio | Mars | Taurus | Exalted and own sign (BPHS Ch. 47); exalted (Uttara Kalamrita; Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara) |
| Capricorn | Sagittarius | Jupiter | Gemini | Moolatrikona (BPHS); exalted (Sanketnidhi; Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara) |
| Aquarius | Capricorn | Saturn | Cancer | - |
| Pisces | Aquarius | Saturn | Leo | - |
Two rows matter for the Karakamsa line above: Aries (for a Taurus Lagna) and Sagittarius (for a Capricorn Lagna) are the two signs the enlightenment clause names, but there they must be the 12th from the Karakamsa, not from the Lagna. And the labels conflict: Taurus is a fall in two texts, while Sagittarius is a moolatrikona in BPHS and an exaltation in two others.
Ketu's Mahadasha from the 12th: BPHS Ch. 44, 47 and 48
BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 71 introduces Ketu as "a headless trunk (Kabandha)" among the grahas, and Sl. 72-77 sort a Ketu period by house into three groups. A Ketu in a kendra, a trikona or the 11th, in a benefic sign, exalted or in its own sign gives good relations with the ruler, headship, conveyances, children, gain from foreign countries. In the 3rd, 6th or 11th, acquisition of a kingdom and friends. In the 2nd, 8th or 12th, or aspected by a malefic, the text gives imprisonment, destruction of kinsmen and residence, anxieties, the company of menials and diseases. The 12th is in the third group by name. The same passage splits the seven years into thirds: Raj Yoga at the start, fearfulness in the middle, ailments and distant journeys at the end. Ketu Mahadasha sets the period out in full, and the Vimshottari Dasha calculator gives your dates.
- Ch. 47 Sl. 5-6, the general test, agrees: a Dasha lord in the 6th, 8th or 12th gives unfavourable results.
- Ch. 47 Sl. 3-4 time results by the lord's decanate and reverse the order for the always-retrograde nodes: a Ketu in the last ten degrees of its sign delivers early in its period, one in the first ten late.
- Ch. 44 Sl. 22-24 put a node in the 1st, 7th, 8th or 12th on the Maraka list. Named only; the app computes no lifespan. The benefic release in those slokas is written for Rahu.
- Ch. 48 Sl. 18-20: the nodes' favourable bracket is the 3rd, 6th and 11th. The 12th is not in it.
Ketu sub-periods that name the 12th
The Antardasha chapters (Ch. 52-60) give Ketu's sub-period conditions inside each Mahadasha. Most count the 8th or 12th from the Mahadasha lord, a different test from the house in the birth chart, and the table keeps them apart. An earlier version of this page said every chapter except Ketu's own counts from the Mahadasha lord; that was wrong, as the Rahu and Saturn rows show. The text adds remedial measures to most of these slokas; this app does not prescribe them.
| Mahadasha | BPHS | Adverse condition naming the 12th | Counted from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sun | Ch. 52 Sl. 60-61 | Ketu in the 8th or 12th | The Dasha lord |
| Moon | Ch. 53 Sl. 50-52 | Ketu in the 8th or 12th, or with or aspected by malefics | The Dasha lord |
| Mars | Ch. 54 Sl. 52-54 | Ketu in the 6th, 8th or 12th | The Dasha lord |
| Rahu | Ch. 55 Sl. 43-45 | Ketu without strength in the 8th or 12th | Not stated (house named bare) |
| Jupiter | Ch. 56 Sl. 33-34 | Ketu in the 6th, 8th or 12th, or with malefics | The Dasha lord |
| Saturn | Ch. 57 Sl. 20-21 | Ketu in the 8th or 12th | The Lagna or the Dasha lord |
| Mercury | Ch. 58 Sl. 9-11 | Ketu with malefics in the 8th or 12th | The Dasha lord |
| Ketu | Ch. 59 Sl. 3-4 | Ketu debilitated, and in the 8th or 12th with a combust graha | Not stated (house named bare) |
| Venus | Ch. 60 Sl. 70-72 | Ketu in the 8th or 12th, or with a malefic | The Dasha lord |
The plainest Lagna-counted line is Saturn's chapter: Ch. 57 Sl. 20-21 name Ketu in the 8th or 12th "from Lagn, or from the Lord of the Dasha". The same chapter opens (Sl. 16-18) by calling the Ketu sub-period evil "even if" Ketu is exalted, in its own sign or in a kendra, and then (Sl. 19) gives good results for Ketu in a kendra, trikona, 3rd or 11th from the Dasha lord. The text sets its clauses side by side and does not rank them. The Venus chapter adds a translator's bracket worth knowing: "It is not laid down anywhere, in which Bhava Ketu does get positional strength" (Ch. 60 Sl. 67-68).
How this app reads Ketu in the 12th
Your Kundali row for Ketu turns favourable only for a planet exalted, in Moolatrikona, own or friendly sign, and outside the 6th, 8th and 12th. The engine returns Neutral dignity for Ketu in every sign, so every Ketu in the 12th gets one sentence: "classically more testing, tending toward real isolation or financial drift under affliction". The favourable string for this house, "genuine spiritual liberation - one of Ketu’s most natural and favourable placements", is in the code but unreachable. The two strings echo Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara's two halves, hardship and isolation against a spiritual pull when well placed. Read the row as the house's theme under affliction, not a finding about your Ketu.
The Mahadasha sentence uses the testing wording, "disconnection, unexpected loss and a pull toward isolation", and the three-level grade reads challenging, because the 12th is one of the 6th, 8th and 12th. That agrees with BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 5-6 and Sl. 72-77. In the engine's 4,000-chart sweep every chart with Ketu in the 12th got that pair. What the app does not apply is the agent rule, Uttara Kalamrita's conjunction route, or any sign label.
A transit is a different measurement. The Gochar calculator counts from the natal Moon, not the Lagna, and with the malefic rule it applies to Ketu, transiting Ketu in the 12th sign from the Moon reads testing. Ketu takes about 566 days to cross a sign, moving backward.
A worked chart
An illustrative birth, not a real person: 29 October 1988, 04:30 IST, New Delhi (28.6139 N, 77.2090 E), computed in this app's engine and re-run on 9 October 2026 on the current engine, with every figure unchanged. Virgo rises at 14.86 degrees, with Mercury in its own sign and Venus debilitated in it. Ketu is at 17.48 degrees of Leo, in Purva Phalguni, in the 12th house; Rahu is in Aquarius in the 6th. The Sun, lord of Leo and so of the 12th, is in Libra in the 2nd, debilitated. Saturn is in Sagittarius in the 4th, Mars in Pisces in the 7th, Jupiter, retrograde, in Taurus in the 9th, and the Moon in Gemini in the 10th.
Nothing joins Ketu, nothing sits with Rahu, and no special aspect reaches the 12th: Mars from the 7th aspects the 10th, 1st and 2nd, Jupiter from the 9th the 1st, 3rd and 5th, Saturn from the 4th the 6th, 10th and 1st. The engine lists Rahu as Ketu's only aspect. So by the agent rule this Ketu stands for its sign lord, the Sun, lord of the 12th, debilitated in the 2nd. The engine prints the row as "classically more testing, tending toward real isolation or financial drift under affliction" and the Mahadasha as testing, graded challenging.
Checked by hand against the rules above. Ch. 23 Sl. 1-4 are not met: the Sun is debilitated, not with a benefic, and no benefic is in the 12th. Sl. 5-6 are not met either: the Sun is in the 2nd, not the 6th or 8th. The Sun is aspected by Mars, lord of the 3rd and 8th, and by no trikona lord (Saturn for the 5th, Venus for the 9th), so Ch. 48 Sl. 14-17 do not lift the 12th lord's Dasha. Counted from the Sun in Libra, Ketu in Leo is the 11th, so Chatterjee's aphorism 22 is not met. Uttara Kalamrita's conjunction route is closed: no kendra or kona lord joins Ketu.
- Ketu Mahadasha, 26 June 2061 to 26 June 2068: in Ch. 47 Sl. 72-77's 12th-house group. Ketu at 17.48 is in the middle third of Leo, which the reversed order leaves in the middle of the period.
- Ketu sub-period in Saturn's Mahadasha (2025 to 2044): Ch. 57 Sl. 20-21 are met from the Lagna. Counted from Saturn in Sagittarius, Leo is the 9th, a trikona, which meets Sl. 19's good clause. Both conditions are met; the text gives no rule for which prevails.
- Ketu sub-period in Rahu's Mahadasha (1991 to 2009): Ch. 55 Sl. 43-45 ask whether Ketu is "without strength" in the 12th, and the text does not define the strength.
- Ketu's own sub-period (Ch. 59 Sl. 3-4): Ketu in Leo is debilitated in no scheme in the table, so that line is not met.
- Kaal Sarp: not present.
None of this says anything about the chart's 12th from the Karakamsa, which has to be found separately from the Atma Karaka's Navamsa.
Where the authorities disagree
- On spending: Phaldeepika reads evil purposes; Chamatkar Chintamani reads charity, like a king. Both, with the sutra, mention the eye.
- On liberation: BPHS Ch. 23 Sl. 10 gives emancipation to a benefic in the 12th; Ch. 33 gives full enlightenment to Ketu in Aries or Sagittarius in the 12th from the Karakamsa; Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara gives a well-placed Ketu an inclination to renunciation without naming a house.
- On signs and aspects: BPHS makes Scorpio Ketu's exaltation and own sign, with Pisces as "some sages" say; Uttara Kalamrita and Sanketnidhi, as the Bhrigu Sutras report them, and Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara disagree on lordship, moolatrikona and fall, and Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara adds 3rd and 10th aspects.
- On the Dasha: Ch. 47 puts the 12th with the 2nd and 8th; the Saturn sub-period chapter lets a good count from the Dasha lord stand beside a bad count from the Lagna.
Checking a Ketu in the 12th in your own chart
- Confirm the birth time: Ketu's sign barely depends on it, its house entirely (what a missing birth time costs). Within two degrees of a sign boundary, the mean or true node can decide the sign.
- List any planet in the 12th with Ketu; by the agent rule its lordships are what Ketu mostly delivers, and a kendra or kona lord there is Uttara Kalamrita's one open route. Failing that, list the planets aspecting it; failing both, read the lord of the 12th by Ch. 23 Sl. 1-6 and Ch. 48 Sl. 14-17.
- Test Ketu's Mahadasha and sub-periods in the Vimshottari Dasha calculator against the tables above, noting which lines count from the Lagna and which from the Dasha lord, and the lord's strength in the Shad Bala calculator, which has no row for Ketu itself.
- Find the 12th from the Karakamsa separately before reading the enlightenment clause.
- Read the other end of the axis in Rahu in the 6th house, and check the Kaal Sarp Dosha calculator if every graha lies on one side of the nodes.
- Does Ketu in the 12th house give moksha?
- Not on the books quoted here. The line in BPHS Ch. 33 is about full enlightenment with Ketu in the 12th from the Karakamsa, in Aries or Sagittarius with a benefic aspect, which is a different house count. BPHS Ch. 23 Sl. 10 gives emancipation to a benefic in the 12th, not to Ketu. The engine's favourable string speaks of spiritual liberation, but no chart can reach it.
- Is Ketu in the 12th good or bad for spending?
- The two Ketu lines disagree: Phaldeepika reads secret wrongdoing and spending for evil purposes, Chamatkar Chintamani a king who spends on charity. BPHS puts a Ketu period from the 12th in its difficult group, and the 12th lord Ketu acts for carries much of the reading.
- Does Ketu in the 12th affect the eyes?
- The shared Bhrigu sutra, Phaldeepika's Ketu line and Chamatkar Chintamani's Ketu line all mention eye troubles. That is a classical body association, not a diagnosis; this app does not treat it as one.
- Is the Bhrigu sutra for Ketu in the 12th different from Rahu's?
- No. The Bhrigu Sutras give one block, "Rahu or Ketu in the Twelfth House", for both nodes. Only the quoted Phaldeepika and Chamatkar Chintamani lines are separate.
- Why does the app call my Ketu in the 12th "classically more testing"?
- Because the row's favourable wording needs a strong dignity, and the engine gives Ketu none in any sign. Every Ketu in the 12th gets the same sentence. Who joins and aspects your Ketu, which the texts treat as decisive, is something the row does not look at.
- Is my Ketu in the 12th exalted or debilitated?
- The texts do not agree. BPHS Ch. 47 exalts Ketu in Scorpio; Uttara Kalamrita, as the Bhrigu Sutras report it, adds a fall in Taurus; Sanketnidhi and Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara exalt it in Sagittarius; a strong school gives the nodes no sign at all. This app follows the last and assigns Ketu no dignity. The table above shows which rising signs put Ketu in each of those signs in the 12th.
- What does Saravali say about Ketu in the 12th?
- Nothing. Saravali Ch. 30 has no verse for either node in any house, and its Ch. 12 rule on cancelled evils names Rahu, not Ketu.
