In short
A Dhana yoga is a combination the texts read as a sign of wealth. BPHS Ch. 41 gives two exact families: a graha in its own sign as the 5th house with named grahas in the 11th, and a graha in its own sign as the Lagna joined or aspected by named grahas. This app tests both, and both are rare.
What the term means
Dhana means wealth, and a Dhana yoga (written Dhan Yoga in the app) is a yoga the classical texts read as pointing to money and possessions. The houses most involved are the 5th and 9th (whose lords BPHS calls wealth-giving), the 11th of gains and the Lagna itself. On this site the term means the specific rules below, not any loose mention of a wealthy chart.
Where the term comes from
BPHS Ch. 41, "Combinations for Wealth", is the main source. Sl. 2-8 give the "Yogas for Great Affluence": a graha occupying its own sign when that sign is the 5th house, while particular grahas sit in the 11th. Sl. 9-15 give the "Yogas for Wealth": a graha in its own sign as the Lagna, "yuti with, or receiving a Drishti from" particular grahas. Sl. 16 adds that the 9th and 5th lords give wealth in their dasha periods, Sl. 17 that strength must be weighed, and Sl. 18-34 refine the reading by divisional dignity. Saravali lists Dhana yogas within its lunar yogas in Ch. 13, and the Bhrigu Sutras mention them in several graha chapters.
How this app computes it
- Dhan Yoga (Great Affluence): for each graha in BPHS's list, the graha sits in the 5th house, that sign is its own, and every partner the sloka names is in the 11th. Sl. 5, shaped differently (Sun and Moon in the 11th, Saturn in its own sign in the 5th), is tested separately.
- Dhan Yoga (Wealth): a graha in its own sign in the 1st house, with every named partner either in the 1st or aspecting it.
- Houses are whole-sign houses from the Lagna, so the yoga needs a birth time.
- The divisional-dignity refinements of Sl. 18-34 are not implemented.
A small illustration
For 28 June 1990, 05:40 IST, New Delhi, Gemini rises and the engine reports Dhan Yoga (Wealth): Mercury in its own sign in the Ascendant, joined or aspected by Saturn and Jupiter, as BPHS Sl. 12 requires. These are exact coincidences and occur seldom: of the 3,000 sampled birth moments 1985-2060 used by this site's tools, the Wealth family formed in 18, Great Affluence in 4, and either one in 22.

What it needs
Date, time and place
That is more than this article asks for - it only ever takes a date, and sometimes a time, and never a name or a birth place. So this one runs on its own page, which asks for exactly what it needs and stores none of it.
