A Ketu in the 2nd house sits in the sign that rises straight after the Lagna, the house the classical texts use for stored wealth, food, family and speech. Of the twelve placements this is one where the sources lean hardest one way: the shared Bhrigu sutra, Phaladeepika and Chamatkar Chintamani all read it as a loss of some kind, and BPHS puts a Ketu period from the 2nd in its difficult group. The softening lines are sign conditions, and this app applies none of them.
This page describes rules, not a person. See also Ketu in Vedic astrology, the 2nd house, Dhana Bhava and Rahu in the 8th house; the Birth Chart calculator shows your Ketu's house.
A note on sources
Every classical line here was checked against the text of the books: the Bhrigu Sutras (Part II Ch. 8, p. 110, and the commentary on pp. 114-115), Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS), Saravali, S. S. Chatterjee's Advanced Predictive Astrology Vol. II and Rama R. Rao's Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara. Phaladeepika, Chamatkar Chintamani, Uttara Kalamrita and Sanketnidhi are not among those books; their lines are cited as the Bhrigu Sutras quotes them. Ketu is the thinner node in these sources: the Bhrigu Sutras give both nodes one shared sutra, Saravali has no node-in-house lines, and the only lines written for Ketu alone in this house are Phaladeepika's and Chamatkar Chintamani's.
The 2nd house in brief
BPHS Ch. 11 Sl. 3 lists wealth, grains (food), family, death, enemies, metals and precious stones under Dhana Bhava. Ch. 13 Sl. 12 ties the eyes to the 2nd lord, and Sl. 13 makes the 2nd a test of truthful speech. The Bhrigu Sutras' own list (Part II, p. 14) adds money matters, gain or loss, resources, jewellery and shares, speech, vision and the right eye, memory, the tongue, teeth and chin, and family members, calls the house a maraka sthana, and notes that many learned writers add education. Each of the Ketu lines below lands on one of those words.
Rahu and Ketu own no signs in this app's tables, so they are never the lord of the 2nd, only its occupant. The 2nd is neither a kendra nor a trikona nor one of the difficult 6th, 8th and 12th, and it is not one of the 3rd, 6th and 11th where the texts are kindest to the nodes. Maraka is BPHS's longevity label; this app does not calculate lifespan, and this page does not use it for timing.
What the texts say about Ketu in the 2nd
| Source | Reading for the 2nd house | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Bhrigu Sutras Part II Ch. 8, Sutras 5-6 (p. 110) | Poor; diseases of the body; loss of children; dark complexion. With a malefic: a mark on the lips | Either node |
| Phaladeepika, as quoted in the Bhrigu Sutras (p. 110) | Devoid of wealth and education; vulgar speech; defective eyesight; depends on others for food | Ketu |
| Chamatkar Chintamani, as quoted in the Bhrigu Sutras (p. 110) | Diseases of the mouth; bitterness with the king (government); loss of wealth; troubles from family members. In Aries, Gemini or Virgo: all comforts | Ketu |
| BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 72-77 | Ketu in the 2nd, 8th or 12th, or aspected by a malefic: imprisonment, destruction of kinsmen and home, anxieties, diseases in its Dasha | Ketu |
The earlier version of this page shortened all three book lines, and the full text changes the picture in one direction: it is harsher and more specific. The shared sutra is not only "poor"; it names diseases of the body, loss of children and a dark complexion, with a mark on the lips when a malefic joins. Phaladeepika is not only "no wealth or education, rough speech"; it adds defective eyesight and dependence on others for food. Chamatkar Chintamani is not only "loss of wealth"; it opens with diseases of the mouth and adds bitterness with the government and trouble from the family. The health and body-mark clauses are what the texts say, not medical advice and not a forecast.
Read across the house's significations, the lines divide the 2nd between them. Wealth: all four sources. Speech: Phaladeepika's vulgar speech. The eyes: Phaladeepika's defective eyesight, the same organ BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 12 assigns to the 2nd lord. The mouth: Chamatkar Chintamani. Food: Phaladeepika's dependence on others for it, the "grains" of BPHS Ch. 11 Sl. 3. Family: the sutra's children, Chamatkar Chintamani's family troubles, BPHS's destruction of kinsmen. Education, which the Bhrigu Sutras say many add to the 2nd, appears only in Phaladeepika. Nothing in the house is left out, and nothing in the house is read well, except under one sign condition.
The mouth line has a modern echo that does not quite fit. Chatterjee's body map in Advanced Predictive Astrology (p. 214) puts the mouth under Jupiter, Rahu and the 2nd house. It names Rahu, not Ketu, so it agrees with Chamatkar Chintamani on the house and not on the node. That is a classical association, not medical advice.
One sutra for two nodes
The Bhrigu Sutras' chapter on the nodes opens with a translator's note: the author gives the same effects for Rahu and Ketu in each house, presumably because they are always seventh from each other, while the other authorities give them separate effects. So Sutras 5-6 are said of "Rahu or Ketu" in the 2nd, word for word the sutra on Rahu in the 2nd house. The sutra cannot tell the two nodes apart, and on the evidence of the Other Views the two nodes in the 2nd do differ. Phaladeepika gives Rahu riches through a ruler's favour and Ketu want of wealth; Chamatkar Chintamani gives Rahu fearlessness in defence of wealth and Ketu loss of it. Only Ketu's lines are used on this page.
The Rahu lines also show where the two nodes agree. Both Phaladeepika lines touch speech (Rahu's double meanings, Ketu's vulgar words), and both Chamatkar Chintamani lines touch the family (Rahu's destruction of it, Ketu's trouble from it). And both books name the government: Phaladeepika's Rahu is rich by the king's favour, Chamatkar Chintamani's Ketu is bitter with the king. On these books the 2nd-house nodes are judged on speech, family and the state, and only the direction differs.
The sign rule that softens it
Only Chamatkar Chintamani gives a way out, and it is a sign condition: if Ketu is in Aries, Gemini or Virgo, the native will enjoy all comforts. In the 2nd that means Pisces, Taurus or Leo rising. BPHS has an independent line that lands on almost the same signs. In Ch. 45, the chapter on the twelve avasthas, Ketu in the Sayan state in Aries, Taurus, Gemini or Virgo gives plenty of wealth, and in other signs increased diseases. Three of the four signs match. The avastha needs its own calculation, which this app does not perform, so the BPHS line is a parallel worth knowing rather than something the app checks.
The dignity schemes pull the other way on one of those signs. Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara (p. 83) makes Ketu the lord of Aries, which agrees with the comfort sign, but debilitates Ketu in Taurus and Gemini, so its scheme reads a Gemini Ketu as weak where Chamatkar Chintamani reads comforts. BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 34-39 give Ketu exaltation in Scorpio, moolatrikona in Sagittarius and own sign in Scorpio, with "some sages" preferring Pisces. Uttara Kalamrita, as the Bhrigu Sutras quote it, debilitates Ketu in Taurus and gives it moolatrikona in Virgo; Sanketnidhi exalts it in Sagittarius and gives it Pisces.
Whose agent is it? Ketu and the lord of the 2nd
BPHS Ch. 34 Sl. 16 says the nodes give predominantly the effects of the house lord they join, or of the house they occupy. The Bhrigu Sutras commentary (pp. 114-115) sets an order: a node acts for the planet it is conjoined with; failing that, for a planet aspecting it; only when it is neither joined nor aspected does it stand for the lord of the house it is in. In whole-sign houses that lord is the lord of the 2nd itself, so a Ketu alone and unaspected in the 2nd reads through the planet that rules the 2nd sign: where it sits and how strong it is. BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 1-2 give the test: a 2nd lord in the 2nd, a kendra or a trikona promotes wealth; one in the 6th, 8th or 12th does not.
Uttara Kalamrita, as the commentary quotes it, adds two routes. A node endowed with strength gives effects like the owner of the house it occupies or the planet it joins. And the nodes become auspicious in a kendra or trikona, or when they conjoin the lord of any kendra or kona. The 2nd closes the first half of that; only the conjunction is open. A Ketu in the 2nd with the 9th lord or the 10th lord beside it is, on this reading, put to good use. The same passage loses the good if the 9th lord also owns the 8th or 12th.
BPHS Ch. 48 Sl. 18-20 caution the other way. The Dasha of a graha associated with the lord of the 2nd or 7th, in the 2nd or 7th, is listed as unfavourable, and a Ketu joined by the 2nd lord in its own sign fits that wording. The same sloka ends with a bracket: Rahu and Ketu give favourable results in the 3rd, 6th and 11th. The 2nd is next door to the 3rd and not included. BPHS Ch. 34 Sl. 17's Yoga Karaka rule needs a node in a kendra, so it does not reach the 2nd.
Chatterjee adds a modern test in his list of good and bad times (Advanced Predictive Astrology, pp. 123-125). Item 22, partly damaged in the scanned text, reads that nodes placed 6th, 8th or 12th from their dispositors give very bad results. For a 2nd-house Ketu the dispositor is the 2nd lord, and Ketu is 6th, 8th or 12th from it when the 2nd lord sits in the 9th, 7th or 3rd house. A 2nd lord in the 9th is good by BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 1-2 and bad for Ketu by item 22. Item 13 adds that a planet in close company with Rahu or Ketu gives poor results in its own dasa, the closer the orb the worse. These are one author's working rules.
| Rising sign | Ketu in | Lord of that sign | Rahu in | What the texts attach to that sign |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aries | Taurus | Venus | Scorpio | Debilitated (Uttara Kalamrita; JSS). BPHS Ch. 45: Sayan avastha gives wealth |
| Taurus | Gemini | Mercury | Sagittarius | Debilitated (JSS). Chamatkar Chintamani: comforts. Ch. 45 Sayan list |
| Gemini | Cancer | Moon | Capricorn | - |
| Cancer | Leo | Sun | Aquarius | Holds Magha |
| Leo | Virgo | Mercury | Pisces | Moolatrikona (Uttara Kalamrita). Chamatkar Chintamani: comforts. Ch. 45 Sayan list |
| Virgo | Libra | Venus | Aries | - |
| Libra | Scorpio | Mars | Taurus | Exalted and own sign (BPHS); exalted (Uttara Kalamrita; JSS) |
| Scorpio | Sagittarius | Jupiter | Gemini | Moolatrikona (BPHS); exalted (Sanketnidhi; JSS) |
| Sagittarius | Capricorn | Saturn | Cancer | - |
| Capricorn | Aquarius | Saturn | Leo | - |
| Aquarius | Pisces | Jupiter | Virgo | Own sign (Sanketnidhi; "some sages" in BPHS) |
| Pisces | Aries | Mars | Libra | Own sign (JSS). Holds Ashwini. Chamatkar Chintamani: comforts. Ch. 45 Sayan list |
One row has a consequence inside BPHS itself. With Libra rising, Ketu in the 2nd is in Scorpio, which BPHS calls both its exaltation and its own sign. A reader who accepts that ownership has a Ketu that is the lord of the 2nd as well as its occupant, and the sub-period chapters below have clauses for a Ketu that is lord of the 2nd as well as for one placed in it. This app follows the school that gives the nodes no signs, so for it Ketu is never the lord of any house.
Rahu in the 8th: the other half of this placement
Ketu and Rahu stand at the same degree of opposite signs, so in this app's whole-sign houses a Ketu in the 2nd always has Rahu in the 8th. BPHS Ch. 26 Sl. 2-5 give every graha a full aspect on the 7th from itself and special aspects only to Saturn, Jupiter and Mars, and the engine follows that. Ketu's single aspect therefore falls on the 8th, on Rahu, and the axis runs between the house of wealth and the house of longevity and inheritance. Because the Bhrigu Sutras use one set of sutras for both nodes, the sutra for Rahu in the 8th is the same text as the sutra for Ketu in the 8th; Rahu in the 8th house takes that side.
BPHS Ch. 44 Sl. 22-24 put a node in the 8th on their Maraka list and add that Rahu in the 6th, 8th or 12th gives difficulties in its Dasha unless a benefic aspects or joins it. So the partner of every 2nd-house Ketu carries that label. This app names the label and computes nothing from it. Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara would widen Ketu's reach: it gives Ketu aspects on the 3rd, 7th and 10th, which from the 2nd fall on the 4th, the 8th and the 11th. The app uses the 7th alone.
Counted the other way, a Ketu in the 2nd is aspected by any planet sitting with Rahu in the 8th, by Mars from the 6th or 10th house counted from Ketu, by Jupiter from the 5th or 9th, and by Saturn from the 4th or 11th. In this whole-sign scheme that means Mars in the 7th or 11th, Jupiter in the 6th or 10th, and Saturn in the 5th or 12th house of the chart.
Ketu's Mahadasha from the 2nd
BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 71 introduces Ketu as the "headless trunk (Kabandha)" among the grahas, and Sl. 72-77 sort a Ketu period by house into three groups. A Ketu in a kendra, trikona or the 11th, in a benefic sign, exalted or in its own sign gives good relations with the ruler, conveyances, children and gain from foreign countries. A Ketu in the 3rd, 6th or 11th gives acquisition of a kingdom and good relations with friends. The 2nd is in the third group, the 2nd, 8th and 12th, for which the text gives imprisonment, destruction of kinsmen and home, anxieties and diseases, the same results it gives a Ketu aspected by a malefic. The same passage splits the seven years into thirds: Raj Yog at the start, fear in the middle, ailments and distant journeys at the end. Ketu Mahadasha sets out the period sub-period by sub-period, and the Vimshottari Dasha calculator gives your dates.
This is the house where the special rule and the general test part company. Ch. 47 Sl. 5-6, the general test, flag only a Dasha lord in the 6th, 8th or 12th, in debility or an enemy's sign, so the 2nd escapes it; Sl. 72-77 put the 2nd in the difficult group anyway. The text does not comment on the difference. Note also that the good group's conditions are "or" conditions: a Ketu in the 2nd that is exalted or in a benefic sign meets one clause of the good group while its house meets the bad one, and the text again leaves both standing.
Ch. 47 Sl. 3-4 time a Dasha's results by the lord's decanate and reverse the order for the always-retrograde nodes: a Ketu in the last ten degrees of its sign delivers early in its period, one in the first ten late. That rule and Sl. 72-77's fixed "Raj Yog at the start" are two different timings for the same period; the text gives both.
Ketu's sub-periods: the 2nd in every Antardasha chapter
BPHS Chapters 52 to 60 give each sub-period inside each Mahadasha. For Ketu's sub-period the good conditions are kendras, trikonas, the 3rd and 11th, benefic company or a Yoga Karaka; the bad ones are the 8th or 12th from the Lagna or the Mahadasha lord, or malefic company. None of the chapters names the 2nd among Ketu's good positions. Each then has a clause for the 2nd and 7th, sometimes for a Ketu placed there, sometimes only for a Ketu that is their lord. Several of those clauses belong to BPHS's longevity scheme and use words this app does not repeat. Each chapter also prescribes remedial measures, which this app does not prescribe.
| Mahadasha (BPHS chapter) | Ketu sub-period, the 2nd-house clause |
|---|---|
| Sun (Ch. 52 Sl. 62-64) | Ketu lord of the 2nd or 7th, with the translator's bracket "or is in any of those Bhavas": adverse, framed in the longevity scheme |
| Moon (Ch. 53 Sl. 50-52) | Ketu in the 2nd or 7th: affliction of the body with diseases |
| Mars (Ch. 54 Sl. 52-54) | Ketu in the 2nd or 7th: diseases, disgrace, agony and loss of wealth |
| Rahu (Ch. 55 Sl. 43-45) | Only for Ketu as lord of the 2nd or 7th: distress to the body |
| Jupiter (Ch. 56 Sl. 37-38) | Ketu lord of the 2nd or 7th, with the translator's bracket adding "if Ketu is in" them: physical distress |
| Saturn (Ch. 57 Sl. 22-23) | Ketu in the 2nd or 7th: physical distress |
| Mercury (Ch. 58 Sl. 12) | Only for Ketu as lord of the 2nd or 7th: physical distress |
| Ketu (Ch. 59 Sl. 5-6) | Ketu in the 2nd or 7th, or related to their lords: danger from diseases, great distress, separation from kinsmen |
| Venus (Ch. 60 Sl. 73-74) | Only for Ketu as lord of the 2nd or 7th: physical distress |
Read strictly, four of the nine chapters attach a clause directly to a Ketu placed in the 2nd (Moon, Mars, Saturn and Ketu), two more do so only through a translator's bracket (Sun and Jupiter), and three speak only of a Ketu that is lord of the 2nd, which in this app never happens. The Mars chapter's clause is the one that names money directly, loss of wealth beside disgrace and disease. The Venus chapter adds a bracket of its own on a different point: it allows Ketu's good sub-period if he has positional strength, then notes that "It is not laid down anywhere" in which house Ketu gets it.
Where the authorities are silent
Saravali's chapter on the grahas in the houses, Ch. 30, does not mention Rahu or Ketu at all, and the Bhrigu Sutras' own 1st-house Other Views say Brihat Jatak and Saravali have not dealt with the nodes in the houses. Saravali's chapter on evils cancelled at birth, Ch. 12, names Rahu (in the 3rd, 6th or 11th with benefic aspect, or in certain ascendants) and says nothing of Ketu. So there is no Saravali line for Ketu in the 2nd, and this page does not supply one.
Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara has no per-house reading for the nodes. Its graha chapter says Ketu stands for hardships and isolation, and that a well-placed Ketu gives a spiritual and meditative influence and an inclination towards renunciation and emancipation. That is a general reading, not a 2nd-house one, but it is the nearest any of these books comes to the app's favourable sentence for this house, "contentment with modest means and disinterest in materialism". Advanced Predictive Astrology has a natal line for Rahu in the 2nd, 6th or 10th; it has none for Ketu in the 2nd, and its line about a Ketu "Sth" house is unreadable between the 5th and the 8th in the scan, so it is not used.
How this app reads Ketu in the 2nd
Your Kundali row for Ketu turns favourable only for a planet exalted, in Moolatrikona, own or friendly sign, and outside the 6th, 8th and 12th. The engine returns Neutral dignity for Ketu in every sign, so every Ketu in the 2nd gets one sentence: "classically more testing, tending toward real disconnection from family wealth under affliction". The favourable string for this house, "contentment with modest means and disinterest in materialism when well placed", is in the code but unreachable. Read the row as the house's theme under affliction, not a finding about your Ketu.
The Mahadasha sentence uses the testing wording, "disconnection, unexpected loss and a pull toward isolation", and the three-level grade reads neutral. Only a Ketu in the 1st reaches the favourable sentence, and only the 6th, 8th and 12th turn the grade to challenging. In the engine's 4,000-chart run every chart with Ketu in the 2nd got the testing sentence and the neutral grade. The neutral grade sits closer to Ch. 47 Sl. 5-6 than to Sl. 72-77, which would put the 2nd with the 8th and 12th.
A transit is a different measurement. The Gochar calculator counts from the natal Moon, not the Lagna, and with the malefic rule it applies to Ketu, transiting Ketu in the 2nd sign from the Moon reads favourable. The source's table of intensified positions flags Ketu in exactly this place, the 2nd from the Moon; the flag sits beside the favourable verdict without overturning it. The engine allows Ketu about 548 days in a sign, moving backward.
A worked chart
An illustrative birth, not a real person: 6 April 1988, 13:30 IST, New Delhi (28.6139 N, 77.2090 E), computed in this app's engine. Cancer rises at 16.01 degrees. Ketu is at 28.38 degrees of Leo, in Uttara Phalguni, in the 2nd house; Rahu is at 28.38 Aquarius in the 8th. The Sun, lord of Leo and so of the 2nd, is in Pisces in the 9th in a friendly sign, with a debilitated Mercury. The Moon is debilitated in Scorpio in the 5th, Mars exalted in Capricorn in the 7th, Jupiter in Aries in the 10th, Venus in its own Taurus in the 11th and Saturn in Sagittarius in the 6th.
Nothing joins Ketu and nothing sits with Rahu, but two planets aspect the 2nd: Mars from the 7th by its 8th-house aspect, and Jupiter from the 10th by its 5th-house aspect. By the agent rule this Ketu acts for those two before it acts for the Sun. For Cancer rising, Mars rules the 5th and 10th and Jupiter the 6th and 9th. Mars is also a malefic, and Sl. 72-77 put a Ketu aspected by a malefic in the same difficult group as the 2nd house; Jupiter's aspect is the benefic counterweight, which the texts quoted here do not score for this house. Uttara Kalamrita's route needs a conjunction, so the two aspects of a kendra-and-kona lord (Mars) and a kona lord (Jupiter) do not meet it.
The Sun in the 9th is a trikona placement for the 2nd lord, the better case in BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 1-2. It is also exactly Chatterjee's item 22 case: Leo is the 6th sign from Pisces, so Ketu sits 6th from its dispositor. Leo is not one of Chamatkar Chintamani's comfort signs or BPHS Ch. 45's Sayan signs, and none of the dignity schemes names it.
The engine prints the row as "classically more testing, tending toward real disconnection from family wealth under affliction", and the Mahadasha as testing, graded neutral. The Moon in Anuradha, a Saturn nakshatra, put Ketu's Mahadasha from 24 September 2015 to 24 September 2022. Ketu sits in the last ten degrees of Leo, so the reversed decanate rule puts its results at the start of that period, in Ketu's own sub-period to 21 February 2016 and Venus's to 22 April 2017, which happens to coincide with Sl. 72-77's "Raj Yog at the start".
In Ketu's own sub-period, Ch. 59 pulls both ways. Sl. 1-2 give family happiness and recognition, with mental agony, if Ketu is related to the 9th, 10th or 4th lord, and here the 9th lord Jupiter and the 10th lord Mars both aspect it, if an aspect counts as relation, which the text does not define. Sl. 5-6 give diseases and distress for a Ketu in the 2nd, which this one is. The text leaves both standing. That is a reading of rules, not a forecast for a person.
Checking a Ketu in the 2nd in your own chart
- Confirm the birth time: Ketu's sign barely depends on it, its house entirely (what a missing birth time costs). Within two degrees of a sign boundary, the mean or true node can decide the sign.
- List any planet in the 2nd with Ketu; by the agent rule its lordships are what Ketu mostly delivers. A kendra or kona lord there is Uttara Kalamrita's good case. Failing that, list the planets aspecting it; failing both, read the lord of the 2nd.
- Check Ketu's sign against the table: Aries, Gemini or Virgo is Chamatkar Chintamani's comfort condition, and the dignity schemes disagree.
- Test Ketu's Mahadasha and sub-periods in the Vimshottari Dasha calculator against the groups above, and the 2nd lord's strength in the Shad Bala calculator, which has no row for Ketu itself.
- Read the other end of the axis in Rahu in the 8th house, and check the Kaal Sarp Dosha calculator if every graha lies on one side of the nodes.
- Does Ketu in the 2nd house mean losing money?
- All four readings quoted here speak of wealth in negative terms, and BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 72-77 put a Ketu period from the 2nd in the difficult group. None of them is a forecast: BPHS Ch. 34 says a node mostly gives the results of the lord it joins, and Chamatkar Chintamani reverses its own verdict in Aries, Gemini or Virgo. The lord of the 2nd and Ketu's company carry most of the weight.
- Is the Bhrigu Sutras line for Ketu the same as for Rahu?
- Yes. The author gives one sutra for both nodes in each house, as the translator notes at the head of the chapter. Only the Phaladeepika and Chamatkar Chintamani lines printed beside it are separate for Ketu.
- What do the texts say about speech and the eyes?
- Phaladeepika, as the Bhrigu Sutras quote it, gives Ketu in the 2nd vulgar speech and defective eyesight; Chamatkar Chintamani gives diseases of the mouth. BPHS ties the eyes to the 2nd lord's strength (Ch. 13 Sl. 12). These are what the texts say, not medical advice.
- Is transiting Ketu in my 2nd house the same as natal Ketu there?
- No. Natal houses here count from the Lagna; the Gochar calculator counts transits from the Moon, where the 2nd is a favourable position for Ketu and also the one position the source flags for it. The two can disagree in the same chart.
- Why does the 2nd house count as difficult for Ketu when it is not a dusthana?
- Because Ketu's own Dasha passage, BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 72-77, lists it with the 8th and 12th, and most of the sub-period chapters attach a distress clause to it. The general rule of Sl. 5-6 does not, and the text leaves the two standing side by side.
- Why does the app call my Ketu in the 2nd "classically more testing"?
- Because the row's favourable wording needs a strong dignity, and the engine gives Ketu none in any sign. Every Ketu in the 2nd gets the same sentence. Who joins and aspects your Ketu, which the texts treat as decisive, is something the row does not look at.
- Is my Ketu in the 2nd exalted or debilitated?
- The texts do not agree. BPHS Ch. 47 exalts Ketu in Scorpio; Uttara Kalamrita (as the Bhrigu Sutras report it) adds a fall in Taurus; Sanketnidhi exalts it in Sagittarius; Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara exalts it in Scorpio and Sagittarius and debilitates it in Taurus and Gemini; and a strong school gives the nodes no sign at all. This app follows the last and assigns Ketu no dignity.
- Does Saravali say anything about Ketu in the 2nd?
- No. Its house chapter does not mention the nodes, and its chapter on cancelled birth evils names only Rahu.
