What the Bhrigu Sutras, the Phaladeepika and Chamatkar Chintamani lines it quotes, BPHS and a modern case book say about Rahu in the 2nd house: want of money against riches through a ruler's favour, the Dasha and Antardasha rules for the 2nd, and how this app reads the placement.

Article text is currently English only. The calculation below and the rest of the interface follow your chosen language.

Rahu, the Moon's ascending node, owns no sign in this app and has no dignity, so it is read almost entirely through the house it occupies and the grahas around it. In the 2nd, the house of wealth, family and speech, the classical sources disagree more sharply than usual: the Bhrigu Sutras read poverty, the Phaladeepika line they quote reads riches through a ruler's favour. This page sets the lines side by side, exactly as the books print them, and shows what the app prints. Background on the node is in Rahu in Vedic astrology, and on the house in the 2nd house (Dhana Bhava).

Where these citations come from

Every classical line here was checked against the text of the books: the Bhrigu Sutras (Part II Ch. 8, p. 110, and the commentary on pp. 114-115), Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS), Saravali, S. S. Chatterjee's Advanced Predictive Astrology Vol. II, and Rama R. Rao's Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara. Phaladeepika, Chamatkar Chintamani and Uttara Kalamrita are not among those books; their lines are cited as the Bhrigu Sutras quotes them. Where the books are silent, this page is too.

The house Rahu occupies here

BPHS Ch. 11 Sl. 3 gives the 2nd: wealth, grains and food, family, death, enemies, metals and precious stones. Ch. 13 Sl. 12 ties the eyes to the strength of the 2nd lord, and Sl. 13 makes the house a test of truthful speech: if the 2nd and its lord are both joined with malefics, the text reads a talebearer who speaks untruth. The Bhrigu Sutras' own list for the house (Part II, p. 14) is longer: money matters, gain or loss, resources, jewellery, shares and securities, speech, vision and the right eye, memory, the tongue, teeth and chin, and family members. It also calls the 2nd a maraka sthana, and notes that many count education here.

The 2nd is neither a kendra nor a trikona nor one of the three difficult houses. That one fact decides most of what follows, because the classical rules for the nodes are written for kendras, trikonas, the 3rd, 6th and 11th, or the 8th and 12th, and the 2nd falls between them. Maraka is the label BPHS uses for longevity reckoning; this app does not calculate lifespan, and this page does not use the label for timing.

BPHS Ch. 34 Sl. 16 sets the rule for a node: Rahu gives predominantly the effects of the house lord it is joined with, or of the house it occupies. The Bhrigu Sutras commentary ranks the influences: first a graha conjoined with the node, then a graha aspecting it, and only when it is neither joined nor aspected the lord of the house it sits in. The Yoga Karaka rule of Sl. 17 needs Rahu in a kendra, so it does not apply in the 2nd.

The Bhrigu sutra for the 2nd, which Rahu shares with Ketu

The Bhrigu Sutras' chapter on the nodes opens with a translator's note that matters for every page in this series. The author gives the same effects for Rahu and for Ketu in each house, presumably because the two are always seventh from each other; the other authorities give them separate effects. So Sutras 5-6 are said of "Rahu or Ketu" in the 2nd, word for word the sutra on Ketu in the 2nd house. Only the lines the book prints under "Other Views" are Rahu's alone.

Sutras 5-6 (p. 110) read four things for a node in the 2nd: the native will be poor, will suffer from diseases of the body and loss of children, and will be of dark complexion. A second clause adds that if the node is associated with a malefic, there will be a mark on the lips. The earlier version of this page reduced the sutra to "want of money"; the full line is wider than wealth, and it reaches into two other 2nd-house subjects, the body's outward appearance and the family line. The health and body-mark clauses are what the text says, not medical advice and not a forecast.

Two points about how much weight the sutra can carry. It is a single sentence written for both nodes, so it cannot distinguish the node that the other books treat as worldly from the one they treat as withdrawn. And its only condition is association with a malefic, which changes a physical detail, not the verdict on money. The sutra has no clause for benefic company, no sign condition and nothing about the 2nd lord, which is exactly what the other authorities supply.

What the Other Views add for Rahu

Paraphrased from the corpus texts, with the short phrases in quotation marks elsewhere on this page taken verbatim. Health lines are what the texts say, not medical advice.

Two corrections to the earlier version of this page belong here. It gave Phaladeepika as "speech with double meanings, a quick temper, yet riches through a ruler's favour" and left out the diseases of the mouth that the same line names. It gave Chamatkar Chintamani as "fearless" alone. The full line is harsher and more specific: it pairs fearlessness with lying, reads destruction of the family, and frames the courage as defence of wealth against enemies. Read whole, Chamatkar Chintamani is a 2nd-house line through and through: family, speech and money in one sentence.

Read the money lines against each other. The Bhrigu sutra reads poverty. Phaladeepika gives riches, but "on account of favour from the king": wealth that comes from outside and from authority rather than from steady accumulation. Chamatkar Chintamani assumes there is wealth worth defending. The three are less opposed than they look. All of them treat the node in the 2nd as a disturbance of ordinary family wealth and of plain speech; they differ on whether an outside source makes up for it.

On speech, Phaladeepika and Chamatkar Chintamani agree with each other and with BPHS. Words with a double meaning and a liar are two readings of the same thing, and BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 13 reaches untruthful speech by its own route when the 2nd and its lord are joined with malefics, which counts Rahu. On the body, Phaladeepika's diseases of the mouth match a modern body map: Advanced Predictive Astrology (p. 214) lists the mouth under Jupiter, Rahu and the 2nd house. That is a classical association, not medical advice.

The Ketu lines the book prints for this house are different again, and they are not Rahu's: Phaladeepika gives Ketu want of wealth and education, and Chamatkar Chintamani gives Ketu comforts in Aries, Gemini or Virgo. None of that transfers to Rahu. They are on Ketu in the 2nd house.

Where the authorities are silent

Saravali's chapter on the grahas in the houses, Ch. 30, does not mention Rahu or Ketu at all; it runs the Sun to Saturn through the twelve houses. The Bhrigu Sutras say the same thing in their own Other Views for the 1st house: Brihat Jatak and Saravali have not dealt with the effects of the nodes in the houses. So there is no Saravali line for Rahu in the 2nd, and this page does not supply one.

Saravali does name Rahu in its chapter on evils cancelled at birth, Ch. 12. Sl. 3-5 say Rahu in the 3rd, 6th or 11th from the ascendant, aspected by benefics, destroys all evils, and Sl. 10-11 give the same protection to Rahu in an ascendant that is Aries, Taurus or Cancer. Neither names the 2nd. The 3rd is next door, which is the nearest these slokas come to this house.

Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara has no per-house reading for the nodes. Its graha chapter (pp. 82-83) describes Rahu in general and closes on one sentence: if he is well placed, he bestows power and material success. That is the whole of its verdict, and it does not say which houses count as well placed.

Rahu speaks for others: the dispositor and the company

In the 2nd, the lord of Rahu's sign is the 2nd lord itself, the planet that rules the house of wealth. So the Ch. 34 Sl. 16 question becomes concrete: where is the 2nd lord, and in what condition? BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 1-2 give the backdrop: a 2nd lord in the 2nd, a kendra or a trikona promotes wealth; one in the 6th, 8th or 12th does not. Sl. 6-7 build the poverty combination on a 2nd lord and 11th lord in evil houses with a malefic in the 2nd, and Rahu is a malefic in BPHS Ch. 3 Sl. 11. Sl. 10 reads the 2nd lord in its own sign or exalted as someone who looks after his people and becomes famous.

  • Conjunction first. A graha sharing the 2nd with Rahu speaks for it. A benefic there meets the benefic condition of BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 34-39, though the 2nd itself is not in that passage's house list.
  • Aspect next. Ketu is always in the 8th, and every graha aspects the 7th from itself, so Ketu always aspects the 2nd. A graha in the 8th with Ketu does the same, as do Mars from the 11th or 7th, Jupiter from the 10th or 6th, and Saturn from the 12th or 5th by their special aspects.
  • Alone. With no graha joined or aspecting apart from Ketu, the commentary's fallback is the sign lord, which here is the 2nd lord.

Uttara Kalamrita, as the Bhrigu Sutras commentary quotes it (pp. 114-115), sharpens this. Its first point: the nodes, if endowed with strength, produce effects like the planet owning the house they occupy or the planet they are joined with. Its third: the nodes become auspicious in a kendra or trikona, and also when they conjoin the lord of any kendra or kona house. For the 2nd only the second route is open. A Rahu in the 2nd that shares the house with, say, the 9th lord or the 10th lord is, on this reading, put to good use; a Rahu alone in the 2nd is not. The same point adds that the good is lost if the 9th lord also owns the 8th or 12th.

BPHS Ch. 48 Sl. 18-20 add a caution for exactly that case. The Dasha of a graha associated with the lord of a Maraka house, the 2nd or 7th, in the 2nd or 7th, is listed as unfavourable. A Rahu in the 2nd joined by the 2nd lord in its own sign fits that wording. The same sloka closes with a bracket: Rahu and Ketu give favourable results in the 3rd, 6th and 11th. The 2nd is not among them.

Ketu in the 8th and the single aspect

BPHS Ch. 26 Sl. 2-5 give every graha a full aspect on the 7th from itself and reserve special aspects for Saturn, Jupiter and Mars; Rahu is not named. This app gives Rahu the 7th aspect only. From the 2nd that lands on the 8th, where Ketu is, so the 2nd-8th axis is held by the two nodes and each aspects the other. The 8th-house side is on Ketu in the 8th house, and the mirror arrangement on Rahu in the 8th house.

Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara disagrees with the app on two counts that matter for this house. It gives Rahu aspects on the 3rd, 7th and 10th; from the 2nd those would fall on the 4th, the 8th and the 11th, so a reader following that book would add the house of the mother and home and the house of gains to Rahu's reach. And it makes Rahu the owner of Capricorn, exalted in Taurus and Gemini and debilitated in Scorpio and Sagittarius. BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 34-39 instead give Rahu exaltation in Taurus, moolatrikona in Gemini and own sign in Aquarius, with "some sages" preferring Virgo. Neither is applied here: the engine gives Rahu no dignity and no aspect but the 7th.

This app applies none of them.

The table shows how much the answer to "is my Rahu strong?" depends on which book is open. A Rahu in Gemini in the 2nd, for Taurus rising, is moolatrikona in BPHS and exalted in two other schemes. A Rahu in Sagittarius, for Scorpio rising, is debilitated in Jyotisha Siddhanta Sara, yet it is the one 2nd-house Rahu that Chatterjee exempts from his rule that Rahu's sub-period in the 2nd is a period of loss.

How this app reads Rahu in the 2nd

The engine has no dignity entry for the nodes and returns Neutral for Rahu in every sign. On the Kundali page the favourable planet-in-house line needs an exalted, moolatrikona, own or friendly sign, so Rahu always gets the testing line, which for this house reads "real financial stringency and strain to family under affliction". The favourable line written for the 2nd, "unconventional but real gains in wealth and family standing when well placed", is in the code but cannot be reached for Rahu. It is closer to Phaladeepika; the testing line is closer to the Bhrigu sutra and Chamatkar Chintamani.

The Mahadasha reading applies BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 5-6, which for Rahu can pass only in the 1st house. In the 2nd it reads testing, with the theme "instability, anxiety and outcomes that don't match the effort put in". The three-way quality label reads neutral, because the 2nd is not one of the 6th, 8th and 12th.

One feature does use the house directly. Career and Money adds Rahu to its risk-appetite reading at a fixed weight of 0.75 whenever Rahu is in the 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th or 12th, and says plainly that the weight is fixed because Rahu has no Shad Bala. It is a placement flag, not a measured strength.

Since both nodes count as malefics in the engine, a graha in the 2nd or the 8th is touched by both. In the Shad Bala calculator its aspect score is 0 of 3 if only malefics reach it, 1.5 if a benefic also does. In the yogas calculator, a benefic on the axis cannot form Adhi or Amala Yoga, and a Moon on it cannot form Kemadruma.

The Mahadasha: what BPHS says for a Rahu in the 2nd

Rahu's Vimshottari period is 18 years. BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 34-39 give the good Rahu Dasha: in exaltation and similar dignities, wealth, conveyances, a new house, children and recognition from foreign governments; and with or aspected by benefics, in a benefic sign, in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th, 11th or 3rd, comforts through government and wealth through a foreign government or sovereign. The 2nd is not in that list, nor in the two houses Sl. 40-43 give the troubled Dasha (8th, 12th). Sl. 40-43 also count a malefic or Maraka companion, or debility, against Rahu, with loss at the start of the period, some relief in the middle and distress at the end. Dates come from the Vimshottari Dasha calculator; the period is covered on the Rahu Mahadasha page.

So for the 2nd the Mahadasha passage is decided by everything except the house: the sign, the company and the aspects. A Rahu in the 2nd in Taurus with a benefic beside it meets the first half of Sl. 34-39 by dignity; a Rahu in the 2nd in Scorpio with Saturn beside it meets Sl. 40-43 by debility and company. Phaladeepika's "favour from the king" and Sl. 34-39's comforts "by the beneficence of the Government" sound alike, but they are different books with different conditions, and neither names the 2nd as its condition.

Ch. 47 Sl. 3-4 add a timing rule: a graha gives its Dasha results at the start, middle or end by the third of its sign it occupies, reversed for a retrograde graha, and "Rahu and Ketu, who are always retrograde" always run in reverse. A Rahu in the first ten degrees of its sign is read as delivering at the end, one in the last ten at the start, and one in the middle ten in the middle either way.

BPHS Ch. 44 Sl. 22-24 list where the nodes act as Marakas: the 1st, 7th, 8th or 12th, the 7th from a Maraka lord, or joined with one. The 2nd itself is not in the list, but its lord is a Maraka lord, so a Rahu joined with the 2nd lord falls under the third condition. The same sloka names Rahu a Maraka for Capricorn and Scorpio rising, and for both of those the 2nd is a sign the table above already flags. This app names the label and computes nothing from it.

BPHS Ch. 50 belongs to the sign-based dashas, not Vimshottari. Its Sl. 51-52 say the natural significations of the house Rahu occupies are harmed at the commencement of the Dasha, and if that house is the 2nd there will be loss of wealth. The same sloka adds that the Moon and Venus in the 2nd at the start of the Dasha bring acquisition of a kingdom. It is the clearest single line in BPHS on Rahu and money in the 2nd, and it belongs to a dasha system this app does not compute.

Rahu's sub-periods: the 2nd in every Antardasha chapter

BPHS Chapters 52 to 60 give each sub-period inside each Mahadasha. Almost every chapter treats Rahu's sub-period in the same way: kendras, trikonas, the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th, or benefic company are the good conditions; the 8th or 12th from the Lagna or the Mahadasha lord are the bad ones; and then a closing clause singles out the 2nd and 7th. Several of those closing clauses belong to BPHS's longevity scheme and use words this app does not repeat; the table names them by kind. Each chapter also prescribes remedial measures, which this app does not prescribe.

Mahadasha (BPHS chapter)Rahu sub-period, the 2nd-house clause
Sun (Ch. 52 Sl. 30-31)Rahu in the 2nd or 7th, or with their lords: adverse, framed in the longevity scheme
Moon (Ch. 53 Sl. 19-21)Body troubles if Rahu is in the 2nd or 7th
Mars (Ch. 54 Sl. 11-14)Loss of wealth if Rahu is in the 2nd (the 7th is given a graver, longevity reading)
Rahu (Ch. 55 Sl. 7)Rahu in the 2nd or 7th, or lord of either: distress and diseases
Jupiter (Ch. 56 Sl. 79-80)Physical distress if Rahu is in the 2nd or 7th
Saturn (Ch. 57 Sl. 69-70)Physical distress if Rahu is associated with the 2nd or 7th lord (occupation alone not named)
Mercury (Ch. 58 Sl. 54-55)Rahu in the 2nd or 6th: adverse, framed in the longevity scheme
Ketu (Ch. 59 Sl. 45-50)Sl. 45-47 list the 2nd among the good positions (gains of wealth, land); Sl. 48-50 give distress and danger for Rahu in the 2nd or 7th
Venus (Ch. 60 Sl. 42-44)Physical distress only if Rahu is lord of the 2nd or 7th; occupation not named
From bphs.txt, Ch. 52-60. Paraphrased; the remedial measures each passage adds are omitted. Health lines are what the text says, not medical advice.

Two things stand out. First, the 2nd is close to a fixed negative across the sub-period chapters, while the Mahadasha passage of Ch. 47 is silent on it. A reader who used only Ch. 47 would miss the house's most repeated classical rule. Second, the Ketu-Mahadasha chapter contradicts itself. Sl. 45-47 put the 2nd among the positions that bring increase of wealth in Rahu's sub-period, with trouble at the start and good later; two slokas on, Sl. 48-50 give distress and danger for Rahu in the 2nd. The text does not reconcile the two, and neither does this page.

A modern author reaches the same place by observation. In his list of rules for good and bad times, S. S. Chatterjee writes that the sub period of Rahu in the 2nd house in any dasa "is noted to be a period of loss", with one exception: Rahu in Sagittarius for Scorpio rising (Advanced Predictive Astrology, p. 125). The same list adds that a planet in close company with Rahu or Ketu does not give good effects in its own dasa, the closer the orb the worse (item 13), and that nodes placed 6th, 8th or 12th from their dispositors give very bad results (item 22, partly damaged in the scanned text). This is one author's working list, not a classical verdict.

Item 22 has a direct test in the 2nd. The dispositor is the 2nd lord, and Rahu is 6th, 8th or 12th from it when the 2nd lord sits in the 9th, 7th or 3rd house of the chart. A 2nd lord in the 9th is a good placement by BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 1-2, a trikona, and a bad one for Rahu by Chatterjee's item 22. The two rules measure different things and can both hold.

Transit: the app, the Moon and a modern view

For transits the Gochar calculator counts from the natal Moon. Its malefic rule marks the 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 11th from the Moon as good positions for Rahu, so Rahu in the 2nd from the Moon is shown as favourable. That is a different count from the natal 2nd house, which is counted from the Lagna. The engine allows Rahu about 548 days in a sign.

Advanced Predictive Astrology (pp. 317-318) disagrees with the app on that very point: it calls transit Rahu very bad when it crosses the Moon sign or the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th and 12th from it, and good in the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th from the Moon, Sun or ascendant. The same pages make a natal claim that names this house: Rahu in the 2nd, 6th or 10th generally gives good results in service, profession and general success, provided it is strongly placed and preferably friendly to the ascendant lord, listing Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Capricorn and Aquarius ascendants. The author adds that transit Rahu over such a natal Rahu proves rewarding. This is one modern author's view; the app does not apply it, and it gives Rahu no strength figure to test "strongly placed" against.

A worked chart

We ran the engine for 10 March 1995, 18:50 IST, New Delhi. Virgo rises at 1.77 degrees, putting Libra in the 2nd. Rahu is at 14.35 Libra in Swati pada 3, in the 2nd house; Ketu is at 14.35 Aries in Bharani, in the 8th. Rahu's dispositor Venus rules both the 2nd and the 9th for Virgo rising, and sits at 15.2 Capricorn in the 5th, a trikona, in a sign the engine calls friendly. Mars, retrograde and debilitated at 20.64 Cancer in the 11th, aspects the 2nd by its 4th-house aspect, and Ketu aspects it from the 8th. Nothing is in the 2nd with Rahu. The Sun, Mercury and Saturn are together in Aquarius in the 6th, Jupiter is in Scorpio in the 3rd and the Moon is in Gemini in the 10th.

  • Placement line: Neutral in Libra, favourable false, the 2nd-house testing sentence.
  • Mahadasha line: testing; quality neutral.
  • Dates: the Moon is in Ardra, so the chart starts in Rahu's Mahadasha, with the balance running to 8 May 2011. The engine divides that balance among the nine sub-periods in proportion, so Rahu's own sub-period runs to 11 August 1997.
  • Career and Money: Rahu on the money axis, entered at the fixed weight. Kaal Sarp: not present.

Checked by hand: Mars is in the 11th and Rahu in the 2nd, two of the four conditions of BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 8. The other two fail. The 2nd lord Venus is in the 5th, and the 11th lord, the Moon for Virgo rising, is in the 10th; neither is in the 6th, 8th or 12th. So the combination does not form, which shows how easily a partial match can be misread. The poverty combination of Sl. 6-7 fails for the same reason, and Sl. 13 fails because Venus has no malefic beside it. Rahu's dispositor in a trikona is the better side of Ch. 34 Sl. 16 and Ch. 13 Sl. 1-2.

By the commentary's order, nothing joins Rahu, so the aspecting grahas speak first. Mars is a malefic, and for Virgo rising it rules the 3rd and 8th, neither a kendra nor a kona, so Uttara Kalamrita's conjunction route is closed too. No benefic reaches Rahu, so the benefic condition of Ch. 47 Sl. 34-39 is not met, although Libra is a benefic's sign. Chatterjee's item 22 does not apply: Libra is the 10th from Venus's Capricorn, not the 6th, 8th or 12th. His transit note does name Virgo among the ascendants for which a 2nd-house Rahu can work well, on the condition of strength the app does not measure.

At 14.35 degrees Rahu is in the middle third of Libra, so Ch. 47 Sl. 3-4 place its results mid-period, and the reversal for a retrograde node leaves the middle where it is. Rahu's own sub-period, to 11 August 1997, is the one Ch. 55 Sl. 7 flags for a Rahu in the 2nd. The next Rahu sub-period, inside Jupiter's Mahadasha, runs from 12 December 2024 to 8 May 2027 in the engine's dates. Ch. 56 Sl. 72-75 need dignity, a kendra or trikona, or a benefic or kendra lord's aspect, and none holds; Sl. 76-78 apply, because Libra is the 12th from Jupiter in Scorpio; and Sl. 79-80 name Rahu in the 2nd. On every BPHS test this chart's Rahu reads through its harder clauses. That is a reading of rules, not a forecast for a person.

Checking Rahu in your own 2nd house

  1. Cast the chart in the birth chart calculator with an exact birth time; the house depends on the rising sign.
  2. Find the 2nd lord, which is Rahu's dispositor, and note its house and company against BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 1-2.
  3. List grahas joined with Rahu in the 2nd and grahas aspecting it. A benefic among them is the condition BPHS keeps returning to; a kendra or kona lord joined with Rahu is Uttara Kalamrita's route.
  4. Check Ch. 13 Sl. 8 only if all four of its conditions hold, not one or two.
  5. Note the sign against the dignity table, and remember the schemes disagree.
  6. Note Rahu's degree for the Ch. 47 Sl. 3-4 timing, then read the sub-period dates against the Ch. 52-60 table.
Does Rahu in the 2nd house mean money problems?
The Bhrigu sutra, shared with Ketu, reads poverty; Phaladeepika reads riches through a ruler's favour; Chamatkar Chintamani assumes wealth worth defending. BPHS makes the result depend on the 2nd lord and on what joins Rahu. No single line settles it.
What do the sources say about speech?
Phaladeepika gives words with a double meaning and an angry temperament; Chamatkar Chintamani gives a fearless liar. BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 13 reads untruthful speech when the 2nd and its lord are both joined with malefics.
Is the Bhrigu Sutras line for Rahu different from Ketu's?
No. The author gives one sutra for both nodes in each house, as the translator notes. Only the Phaladeepika and Chamatkar Chintamani lines quoted beside it are separate.
Why does the app show a testing line?
Because the favourable line needs a dignity the engine never assigns to Rahu. Every Rahu in the 2nd gets the testing sentence. It is the rule's default, not a finding about your chart.
Is Rahu in the 2nd good for the Rahu Mahadasha?
BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 34-39 do not list the 2nd among the good houses, and Ch. 55 Sl. 7 flag it for distress in Rahu's own sub-period. Dignity and benefic company are the conditions that can change the reading.
Are Rahu's sub-periods in the 2nd always difficult?
Most BPHS sub-period chapters attach a distress clause to Rahu in the 2nd, and Chatterjee calls it a period of loss except for Rahu in Sagittarius with Scorpio rising. One BPHS passage, inside Ketu's Mahadasha, lists the 2nd as a good position and then, two slokas later, as a distressing one.
Does Saravali say anything about Rahu in the 2nd?
No. Its house chapter, Ch. 30, does not mention the nodes, and its birth-evil cancellations name the 3rd, 6th, 11th and certain ascendants, not the 2nd.
What does Ketu in the 8th add?
It is always there and aspects the 2nd. See Ketu in the 8th house.
Is this Kaal Sarp?
No. Kaal Sarp asks whether all seven grahas lie on one side of the axis. The Kaal Sarp calculator checks it; the Kaal Sarp article explains its limits.
