The 6 in your Lo Shu grid: counted, placed and read

The Lo Shu grid gives every digit from 1 to 9 a box and counts how often each appears in a birth date. This page looks at the 6 box alone: how it fills, the lines that run through it, how often it is empty across sixty-one years of dates, and the readings the books in this app's library give it. How the count of 6 is worked out

generateLoShuGrid() writes the date as day, month and year without leading zeros, drops the zeros and counts the digits. A 6 can come from:

• Days: the 6th, the 16th and the 26th.
• Months: June only.
• Years: those with a 6 in their last two digits, such as 1956, 1976, 1996 and 2006, and every year of the 1960s.

A box with no marks is on the missing list, one with two or more on the "dominant" list. The Lo Shu Grid calculator shows the counts; the Numerology Profile adds the lists, planes and arrows.

What an empty 6 box rules out

• The Practical and Action planes cannot be complete.
• The Arrow of Willpower and the Arrow of the Intellect cannot appear.
• The 6 goes on the missing list read by the Health Tendencies card.

Counted over the same dates, the Practical plane is complete on 2,488 and absent on only 576, since the 1 at its centre is so common. The Action plane is complete on 1,321 and absent on 2,457. The Intellect arrow (3, 6, 9) appears on 1,901 dates; the Willpower arrow (4, 5, 6) on 421, the fewest of the eight. Every one of those 421 needs a 6.

How often the 6 box is empty, single or crowded

The 6 is missing on 13,901 of 22,280 dates, a little over six in ten, and on three dates in four after 2000 (3,023 of 4,018). Its pattern is close to the 5, 7 and 8, each of which has three days, one month and one decade of years in this range. Four 6s happen only on 6, 16 and 26 June 1966.

Worked example: 16 January 1970 and 1 January 1970

The first dates the engine finds with and without a 6:

1. 1.16 January 1970 is written 16, 1, 1970. Digits: 1, 6, 1, 1, 9, 7, 0. Dropping the 0 leaves three 1s, a 6, a 9 and a 7.
2. 2.Grid: 1 three times; 6, 7 and 9 once each. Missing: 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8. Dominant: 1. The Thought plane (4, 3, 8) is absent. The Practical plane (8, 1, 6) is one digit short, lacking the 8.
3. 3.Arrows: none. The Intellect arrow lacks the 3, and Willpower lacks the 4 and the 5.
4. 4.Mulank: 1 + 6 = 7. Bhagyank: 1 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 0 = 25, then 2 + 5 = 7.
5. 5.1 January 1970: digits 1, 1, 1, 9, 7, 0, no 6. Grid: 1 three times, 7 and 9 once. Missing: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8.

So the 6 on the 16th fills its box and makes nothing else complete; a single digit only completes a line when the other two are already there. The Vedic Grid for the same date has two 1s, one 6 and three 7s: it drops the 19 of the year and adds the Bhagyank 7 and the Moolank 7. It never loses a 6 the Lo Shu grid has; on 2,459 of the 22,280 dates it gains one, and the two counts differ on 3,777.

Reading your own 6 box, step by step

1. 1.Write your date as day, month, year with no leading zeros: 6 June 1986 is 6, 6, 1986.
2. 2.Count the 6s, ignoring zeros. That example has three: one from the day, one from the month and one from 1986. The engine's grid for it is 1, 6 three times, 8 and 9.
3. 3.If the count is 0, the 6 is on your missing list. If it is 2 or more, it is on your dominant list.
4. 4.Check the lines through the 6: the Practical plane needs 8 and 1 as well; the Action plane needs 2 and 7; the Intellect arrow needs 3 and 9; the Willpower arrow needs 4 and 5. For 6 June 1986 the engine reports the Practical plane complete (8, 1 and 6 are all there), the Emotional plane absent, and no arrow.
5. 5.Only then read what the books say, keeping in mind which book says it and that six dates in ten share a missing 6.

What the books say about the 6 in the grid

• Numerology Masters Notes (Rrachita Gupta) puts the 6 in the North-West with the Metal element. It lists mentors, helpful people and friends, foreign collaborations and new opportunities (p.136), and adds luxury, entertainment, travel and recreation on its p.137 diagram.
• Its recurring table (p.165) reads one 6 as a good advisor, two as original, three as high tempered and four as excessively emotional. Metaphysical Secrets, Ch. 2, gives good advisor, originative, high tempered and emotional: the same four readings in slightly different words.
• Metaphysical Secrets places the 6 in the top-middle box, which is its position in the 3-6-9 / 2-5-8 / 1-4-7 layout, not in the Lo Shu square the app displays. Diagrams taken from that book will not match the app's.
• For a missing 6 (p.172) Masters Notes speaks of family life and comfort, of treating responsibilities lightly or as a burden, and of keeping feelings hidden, and ends with a need to build better relationships and be sensitive to the people around one. Its p.166 introduction frames all missing numbers as lessons. The disease column is not reproduced here, and the remedies heading is blank.

What the 6 box cannot tell you

The count belongs to the calendar date and to everyone born on it. The readings are the books' interpretations; none is a measurement, and nothing here is medical. The 6 as a Mulank or Bhagyank is a different number, covered on Number 6 in numerology. The neighbouring digits are on Lo Shu number 5 and Lo Shu number 7, and the planes are defined under Lo Shu planes.

Why is my 6 box empty?

A 6 can only come from the 6th, 16th or 26th, from June, or from a year with a 6 in its last two digits. 13,901 of the 22,280 dates from 1950 to 2010 have none.

My Mulank is 6 but there is no 6 in my grid.

The 15th and the 24th give Mulank 6 (1 + 5, 2 + 4) without writing a 6. The grid counts written digits, not sums. The Life Path calculator shows the Mulank.

Why does one 6 not complete anything in the example?

Every plane and arrow needs three digits. On 16 January 1970 the lines through the 6 each lack at least one other digit: the 8 for the Practical plane, the 2 for the Action plane, the 3 for the Intellect arrow, and the 4 and 5 for Willpower.

What does one 6 mean?

Both books read a single 6 as a good advisor. That is their reading of a count, not a measurement.

Does the app recommend a remedy for a missing 6?

No. The source slide leaves its remedies blank and this app prescribes none; its card gives a lesson line and ordinary suggestions labelled as its own.
