The 7 in your Lo Shu grid: counted, placed and read

A Lo Shu grid counts the digits of a birth date into nine boxes. This page is about the 7 box: how the engine fills it, which lines depend on it, how often it is empty or crowded across sixty-one years of dates, and the readings the books in this app's library attach to it. How the count of 7 is worked out

generateLoShuGrid() writes the date as day, month and year with no leading zeros, discards the zeros and counts each digit. A 7 can come from:

• Days: the 7th, the 17th and the 27th.
• Months: July only.
• Years: those with a 7 in their last two digits, such as 1957, 1967, 1987, 1997 and 2007, and every year of the 1970s.

An empty box goes on the missing list, a box with two or more marks on the "dominant" list. The Lo Shu Grid calculator shows the counts; the Numerology Profile the lists, planes and arrows.

What an empty 7 box rules out

• The Emotional and Action planes cannot be complete.
• Three arrows cannot appear: Activity, Practicality and Compassion.
• The 7 goes on the missing list read by the Health Tendencies card.

Over the same 22,280 dates, the Activity arrow (7, 8, 9) appears on 2,428, the Practicality arrow (1, 4, 7) on 1,721, and the Emotional plane with its twin, the Compassion arrow, on 504. The Action plane (2, 7, 6) is complete on 1,321 and absent on 2,457. For a 1900s birth the year supplies the 9, so a 7 and an 8 elsewhere are enough for the Activity arrow.

How often the 7 box is empty, single or crowded

These counts match the 5 exactly, row for row, because both digits come from three days, one month and one full decade of years in this range (the 1950s for the 5, the 1970s for the 7). A missing 7 is the majority case, a little over six dates in ten; after 2000 it is three in four. Four 7s occur on just three dates, 7, 17 and 27 July 1977. Compare Lo Shu number 5.

Worked example: 1 January 1970, 3 January 1980 and 7 July 1977

1. 1.1 January 1970 is the first date the engine finds with a 7. Written 1, 1, 1970, its digits are 1, 1, 1, 9, 7, 0. The 7 comes only from the year. Grid: 1 three times, 7 and 9 once. Missing: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8. The Thought plane is absent; no arrow appears, since the Activity arrow lacks the 8.
2. 2.3 January 1980 is the first without one. Written 3, 1, 1980, its digits are 3, 1, 1, 9, 8, 0. Grid: 1 twice; 3, 8 and 9 once. Missing: 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7. The Action plane (2, 7, 6) is absent. Mulank 3; Bhagyank 3 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 0 = 22, kept as a master number.
3. 3.7 July 1977 is one of the three dates with four 7s. Written 7, 7, 1977, its digits are 7, 7, 1, 9, 7, 7. Grid: 1 once, 7 four times, 9 once. Missing: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8; dominant: 7. The Thought plane is absent and no arrow appears. Mulank 7; Bhagyank 7 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 7 = 38, then 3 + 8 = 11.

The third date shows how little a crowded box changes. Four 7s fill one box four times over, but planes and arrows test presence, so the 7 completes nothing it would not complete once. The Vedic Grid for 7 July 1977 also has four 7s (day, month and the year's 77) plus a 2 from the Bhagyank 11 read at its single digit, and no 1 or 9. Across all 22,280 dates the Vedic grid never loses a 7 the Lo Shu grid has; it gains one on 2,447, and the counts differ on 3,774.

Reading your own 7 box, step by step

1. 1.Write the date as day, month and year with no leading zeros, and drop every 0.
2. 2.Count the 7s. If there are none, the 7 is on your missing list; if there are two or more, it is on your dominant list.
3. 3.Check the lines through the 7: the Emotional plane also needs 3 and 5; the Action plane needs 2 and 6; the Activity arrow needs 8 and 9; the Practicality arrow needs 1 and 4; the Compassion arrow needs 3 and 5.
4. 4.Remember what the century already gives you: a 1900s year supplies the 1 and the 9, a 2000s year the 2. That decides most of the lines before the 7 is even counted.
5. 5.Only then read the books, noting which book says what and that a missing 7 is shared by most dates in the range.

What the books say about the 7 in the grid

• Numerology Masters Notes (Rrachita Gupta) puts the 7 in the West with the Metal element and lists mental peace, children and creativity.
• Its recurring table (p.165) reads one 7 as learning with experience and two as spiritual; for three and four 7s it speaks of learning through loss and of difficulties. Metaphysical Secrets, Ch. 2, gives nearly the same four readings. These are the books' claims about a count; the three dates with four 7s in the sweep share them, along with everyone else born on those days.
• Metaphysical Secrets places the 7 in the bottom-right box, its position in the 3-6-9 / 2-5-8 / 1-4-7 layout rather than in the Lo Shu square the app shows.
• For a missing 7 (p.173) Masters Notes speaks of obstacles in study, little interest in non-material questions, and jumping to conclusions, and advises stopping to listen and analyse before judging. Its p.166 introduction frames missing numbers as lessons. The disease column is not reproduced here, and the remedies heading is blank.

On the Health Tendencies calculator this app words a missing 7 as: "Staying with a question. The lesson is depth - listening before concluding, and letting something hold your attention long enough to understand it." The framing is the book's; the words are the app's.

What the 7 box cannot tell you

The count is a fact about a calendar date, shared by everyone born on it. The readings are interpretations from books that do not always agree; none is a measurement, and nothing here is medical. The 7 as a Mulank or Bhagyank is a different number, covered on Number 7 in numerology. Neighbouring digits are on Lo Shu number 6 and Lo Shu number 8; the planes are defined under Lo Shu planes.

Why is my 7 box empty?

A 7 has to come from the 7th, 17th or 27th, from July, or from a year with a 7 in its last two digits. 13,859 of the 22,280 dates from 1950 to 2010 have none.

My Mulank is 7 but my grid has no 7.

The 16th and the 25th give Mulank 7 (1 + 6, 2 + 5) without writing a 7. The grid counts written digits; the Mulank is a sum. The Life Path calculator shows your Mulank.

I have four 7s. Is that unusual?

In the sweep from 1950 to 2010 only three dates had four 7s: 7, 17 and 27 July 1977. Both books give a reading for four 7s; it is their reading of a count, shared by everyone born on those days.

What does one 7 mean?

Masters Notes and Metaphysical Secrets both read a single 7 as learning through experience.

Does the app suggest anything for a missing 7?

No remedies. The book's slide leaves them blank; the app's card gives a lesson line and ordinary suggestions labelled as its own.
