BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 2 states the occupant test for the 2nd house in one line: "A benefic in Dhan will give wealth, while a malefic instead will destroy wealth." Mars is the most malefic of the natural malefics in BPHS Ch. 34's ranking, so the occupant test reads Mars in the 2nd against wealth before any verse about Mars is consulted.
The Mars verses disagree with each other about money and agree about learning. Saravali gives poverty, bad food, bad company and no learning. The Bhrigu Sutras give no education but gains of wealth, and good education when Mars is in Aries, Scorpio or Capricorn. It is one of the informative disagreements in the house. This page sets it out, with the Mars-Saturn rule BPHS gives for this house, the Maraka label, and the two houses Mars rules for each rising sign. For the planet see Mars in Vedic astrology; for the house, the 2nd house, Dhana Bhava.
Sources, and money
Every classical statement here was checked against the English translations of BPHS, Saravali and the Bhrigu Sutras used by this app, and is cited by chapter and verse. BPHS states outcomes as certainties because that is its idiom; this page reports conditions and readings, not a statement about your finances, and nothing here is financial advice.
The house of holdings, food, family and speech
BPHS Ch. 11 Sl. 3: wealth, grains and food, family, death, enemies, metals and precious stones. Ch. 13 Sl. 12-13 add the eyes and truthfulness of speech. Saravali (Ch. 3 Sl. 26-27) names the house Artha, Dhana and Kutumba, the household. The Bhrigu Sutras' list (p. 14) adds speech, vision and the right eye, memory, the tongue, nose, teeth and chin, family members, and education as the opinion of "many a learned". The 2nd is a Panaphara, not an angle, trine or Dusthana, and BPHS Ch. 13 judges it largely through its lord.
BPHS Ch. 44 makes the 2nd the stronger of the two Marak Bhavas, and names malefics placed in the 2nd and 7th among the Marakas. Mars in the 2nd is therefore a Maraka by placement in BPHS's classification. The label is reported because the texts use it; this app computes no lifespan and applies no Marak rule.
What Mars brings into it: BPHS Ch. 70 Sl. 1-6 judge co-borns, strength, qualities and land from Mars, and Ch. 32 makes it the indicator of a younger brother, a sister and a brother-in-law, the mother jointly with the Moon, and the fixed significator of the 3rd and 6th houses. BPHS Ch. 3 Sl. 11 and Saravali Ch. 4 Sl. 9 list it among the natural malefics, and Ch. 34 Sl. 8-10 put it at the top of the malefic ranking. The same Ch. 34 then lets lordship undo the label, which is the point of the Bhrigu Sutras' commentator: the other texts give the effects of a malefic Mars, not of the Mars that becomes a functional benefic by sign or lordship (Note, p. 47). The 2nd is a house where both halves of that theme apply, because it is judged by occupant and by lord at once.
Two texts, one disagreement
Saravali Ch. 30 Sloka 27
"If Mars occupies the 2nd, the native will be poor, will eat bad food, will possess an ugly face, will join bad men and be bereft of learning" (p. 102). Every clause is a deprivation, and two of them fall on the house's own items, wealth and food.
The Bhrigu Sutras, Sutras 10-15
The sutras (p. 47): "the native will have no education but he will gain wealth". With the lord of the 6th, eye troubles such as cataract, defective eyesight or blindness, which may not happen, or may be recovered from, if Jupiter or Venus aspects the combination. In Aries, Scorpio or Capricorn, well educated with good eyesight. Joined with, in the house of, or aspected by a malefic, eye troubles. The eye lines are the text's statements, not medical advice. So the sutras keep Saravali's learning clause, reverse its money clause, and attach a dignity condition that removes the learning clause too.
Put plainly: on Mars, Saravali says poor and the Bhrigu Sutras say "he will gain wealth"; both agree on a lack of schooling unless Mars is dignified. The commentator's Note (p. 48) adds the broader complaint, that the other texts give the effects of a malefic Mars, and the sutras' general method, that own sign, exaltation or benefic influence turns most houses round.
| Source | Wealth | Learning | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 2 | A malefic in the 2nd destroys wealth | - | The occupant test; Ch. 13 also judges by the lord |
| Saravali Ch. 30 Sl. 27 | Poor; bad food, an ugly face, bad company | Bereft of learning | None in the verse |
| Bhrigu Sutras 10-15 | Gains wealth | No education | In Aries, Scorpio or Capricorn: well educated, good eyesight; with the 6th lord or a malefic: eye troubles |
| This app, phMars2F | Real financial gains; a genuine wealth combination when well placed | - | Exalted, Moolatrikona, Own or Friendly dignity |
| This app, phMars2U | - | Strain around education and eyesight | Any other dignity |
The app's two lines split the Bhrigu Sutras' reading between them: the favourable line keeps the wealth, the testing line keeps the education and the eyes, which the sutras themselves name and BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 12 makes a 2nd-house item. The eye phrase is a classical association, not a diagnosis.
BPHS Ch. 13 applied to Mars
- Sl. 1-2: the 2nd lord in the 2nd, an angle or a trine promotes wealth; a malefic in the 2nd destroys it. For Libra and Pisces rising Mars is the 2nd lord, so Mars in the 2nd is both the malefic occupant and the lord at home.
- Sl. 3: Jupiter in the 2nd as the 2nd lord, or with Mars, is a wealth combination. Mars in the 2nd with Jupiter beside it meets the second clause; the first applies only to Scorpio and Aquarius rising, where Jupiter rules the 2nd.
- Sl. 6-8: the poverty combinations need the 2nd lord and the 11th lord both badly placed and a malefic in the 2nd. Mars in the 2nd supplies the malefic; the two lords decide the rest. Sl. 8 names Mars in the 11th with Rahu in the 2nd, a different arrangement.
- Sl. 10: the 2nd lord in its own sign or exalted looks after its people, helps others and becomes famous.
- Sl. 12-13: a strong 2nd lord gives beautiful eyes, and one in the 6th, 8th or 12th disease or deformity of the eyes; the 2nd and its lord both joined by malefics make one a talebearer who speaks untruth, with windy diseases.
A practical point applies to Mars: every poverty sloka in Ch. 13 requires the 11th lord to be damaged as well, so a malefic in the 2nd does not settle the wealth question alone. Ch. 42 Sl. 5 adds one more: the Lagna lord with a malefic in the 6th, 8th or 12th while the 2nd lord is debilitated or in an enemy sign, which makes "even a native of royal scion" penniless.
Mars with Saturn in the 2nd: BPHS Ch. 42
BPHS Ch. 42, "Combinations for Penury", ends with three rules about the 2nd house that each carry their own reversal (Sl. 16-18), and they are the only rules from that chapter this app checks. The first is about Mars: Mars and Saturn together in the 2nd are read as wealth destroyed, and then reversed: "Should Budh give a Drishti to Mangal and Sani in Dhan Bhava, there will be great wealth."
Mercury has only the 7th aspect, so in a whole-sign chart the reversal needs Mercury in the 8th house. The app names this pattern "Dhan Bhava Caution (Mars-Saturn)", grades it Mild, or reports the reversal when Mercury's aspect is present. The other two rules are about the Sun in the 2nd and Saturn aspected by the Sun; see the Sun in the 2nd. The yogas calculator shows which apply to your chart.
Mars's aspects from the 2nd
BPHS Ch. 26 Sl. 2-5 give Mars special full aspects on the 4th and 8th places from itself, beside the 7th. From the 2nd, aspectedHouses('mars', 2) returns [8, 5, 9]: the house of longevity, the house of children and intelligence, and the house of fortune. The engine counts all three as malefic aspects in Shad Bala.
None of the three texts gives a separate verse for Mars aspecting these houses from the 2nd, so this page states none. Two of the three are the trines, the houses BPHS Ch. 34 calls specially for wealth. For the houses, see the 5th house and the 9th house.
Two lordships for every rising sign
Mars owns Aries and Scorpio, so it rules two houses in every chart. Mars is in your 2nd when it occupies the sign after your rising sign; the Lagna calculator finds yours. BPHS Ch. 24 gives a verse for each house lord placed in the 2nd, so a Mars there carries two of them, and BPHS Ch. 34 gives Mars a role for each Ascendant.
| Ascendant | Mars's sign | Natural dignity | Mars rules | BPHS Ch. 24, those lords in the 2nd | Ch. 34 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aries | Taurus | Neutral (Venus) | 1st, 8th | Sl. 2: gainful, scholarly, happy, religious, honourable, many wives. Sl. 86: devoid of bodily vigour, a little wealth, lost wealth not regained | Helpful despite the 8th |
| Taurus | Gemini | Enemy (Mercury) | 7th, 12th | Sl. 74: many wives, gains wealth through his wife, procrastinating. Sl. 134: always spends on inauspicious deeds, religious, sweet-spoken | A Maraka |
| Gemini | Cancer | Debilitated | 6th, 11th | Sl. 62: adventurous, famous among his people, lives in alien countries, a skilful speaker. Sl. 122: all kinds of wealth, charitable, always happy | Malefic |
| Cancer | Leo | Friendly (Sun) | 5th, 10th | Sl. 50: many sons and wealth, a pater familias, famous. Sl. 110: wealthy, virtuous, honoured by the king, charitable | Yoga Karaka |
| Leo | Virgo | Enemy (Mercury) | 4th, 9th | Sl. 38: pleasures, all kinds of wealth, family life, honour, cunning. Sl. 98: a scholar, wealthy, sensuous, happiness from wife and sons | Auspicious |
| Virgo | Libra | Neutral (Venus) | 3rd, 8th | Sl. 26: corpulent, devoid of valour, little effort, an eye on others' wives and wealth. Sl. 86: devoid of bodily vigour, lost wealth not regained | Malefic |
| Libra | Scorpio | Own | 2nd, 7th | Sl. 14: wealthy, proud, two or more wives, bereft of progeny. Sl. 74: many wives, gains through his wife | Malefic and a Maraka |
| Scorpio | Sagittarius | Friendly (Jupiter) | 1st, 6th | Sl. 2: gainful, scholarly, many wives. Sl. 62: a skilful speaker, lives in alien countries | Neutral |
| Sagittarius | Capricorn | Exalted | 5th, 12th | Sl. 50: many sons and wealth. Sl. 134: spends on inauspicious deeds, virtues and happiness | Auspicious |
| Capricorn | Aquarius | Neutral (Saturn) | 4th, 11th | Sl. 38: pleasures, wealth, honour, cunning. Sl. 122: all kinds of wealth | Malefic; a Maraka with others |
| Aquarius | Pisces | Friendly (Jupiter) | 3rd, 10th | Sl. 26: devoid of valour, little effort. Sl. 110: wealthy, honoured by the king, charitable | Malefic and a Maraka |
| Pisces | Aries | Own; Moolatrikona to 12 deg | 2nd, 9th | Sl. 14: wealthy, proud, two or more wives, bereft of progeny. Sl. 98: a scholar, wealthy, happiness from wife and sons | Auspicious; a Yoga with Jupiter |
Read as a column: the lords of the angles, trines and 11th feeding resources, the 8th lord draining them and the 3rd lord lacking effort. For Mars, Aries and Virgo rising bring the 8th lord's Sl. 86 into the 2nd; Cancer, Leo, Capricorn and Pisces rising bring two good rows together. The Bhrigu Sutras' education clause (Aries, Scorpio or Capricorn) falls on Pisces, Libra and Sagittarius rising.
Three rows worth a second look
- Libra rising: Mars is the 2nd lord in its own sign in the 2nd, and also the 7th lord. Ch. 13 Sl. 1 and Sl. 10 read the lord well; the Bhrigu Sutras' education clause applies; and Ch. 34 calls Mars both a malefic and a Maraka for Libra rising, the lord of both Marak houses sitting in one of them.
- Pisces rising: Mars is the 2nd and 9th lord in its own sign, Ch. 34's auspicious planet that forms a yoga with Jupiter. The worked chart below is this case.
- Gemini rising: Mars is debilitated in Cancer, as 6th and 11th lord, the malefic of Ch. 34; Sl. 122 is still among the warmest 2nd-house rows. Ch. 24 Sl. 145-148 scale everything by strength.
Saravali Ch. 25, by the sign Mars occupies
Saravali's chapter on Mars by sign (Ch. 25, pp. 76-78) applies to a Mars in the 2nd through the sign after your Ascendant. Several of its lines speak to the 2nd house's own items, wealth and speech:
| Ascendant | Mars in | Saravali Ch. 25 |
|---|---|---|
| Aries | Taurus | Sl. 3-4: little wealth and few sons, distrustful, very harsh speech, fond of music, sinful, brings infamy to his family |
| Taurus | Gemini | Sl. 5-6: enduring miseries, very learned, skilled in fine arts, fond of foreign travel |
| Gemini | Cancer | Sl. 7-8: lives in others' houses, sick; riches through agriculture and water; always distressed |
| Cancer | Leo | Sl. 9-10: impatient, valorous, grabs others' money, loses his first wife, always active in his jobs |
| Leo | Virgo | Sl. 11-12: worthy of honour, never rich, soft-spoken, various expenses, learned in Shastras and arts |
| Virgo | Libra | Sl. 13-14: a wanderer, bad business, an able speaker, fortunate, loses his first wife, earns only to lose |
| Libra | Scorpio | Sl. 15-16: attached to trade, leader of thieves, skilful, highly sinful; lands, sons and wife |
| Scorpio | Sagittarius | Sl. 17-18: a warrior, harsh in speech, crafty, loses happiness and money through anger |
| Sagittarius | Capricorn | Sl. 19-20: wealthy, happy, famous, an Army chief or a king, a good wife |
| Capricorn | Aquarius | Sl. 21-22: untruthful, afflicted speech, lost wealth, loses money in gambling, unfortunate |
| Aquarius | Pisces | Sl. 23-24: diseases, lives abroad, insulted by relatives, loses all wealth by cunning, yet famous |
| Pisces | Aries | Sl. 1-2: truthful, valorous, a king, fond of war, an Army chief, charitable, fierce |
Read beside the 2nd house, the sign lines sometimes echo the house verses (little wealth and harsh speech in Taurus, lost wealth and afflicted speech in Aquarius) and sometimes contradict them (wealthy and famous in Capricorn, learned in Gemini and Virgo). The sign chapter describes a temperament and is not where Saravali scores strength.
The 2nd lord, through the houses
Since BPHS judges the 2nd mostly through its lord, Ch. 24 Sl. 13-24 are the second table to read. With Mars in the 2nd, the 2nd lord is the lord of Mars's sign (Mars itself for Libra and Pisces rising).
| 2nd lord in | BPHS Ch. 24 | The verse |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | Sl. 13 | Sons and wealth; inimical to his family, lustful, hard-hearted, does others' jobs |
| 2nd | Sl. 14 | Wealthy, proud, two or more wives, bereft of progeny |
| 3rd | Sl. 15 | Valorous, wise, virtuous, lustful and miserly with a benefic; heterodox with a malefic |
| 4th | Sl. 16 | All kinds of wealth; exalted with Jupiter, "equal to a king" |
| 5th | Sl. 17 | Wealthy; his sons too intent on earning |
| 6th | Sl. 18 | Gain through enemies with a benefic; with a malefic, loss through enemies and "mutilation of shanks" |
| 8th | Sl. 20 | Abundant land and wealth; limited marital felicity, no happiness from the elder brother |
| 9th | Sl. 21 | Wealthy, diligent, skilful, sick in childhood then happy; visits shrines |
| 10th | Sl. 22 | Libidinous, honourable, learned, many wives and much wealth, bereft of filial happiness |
| 11th | Sl. 23 | All kinds of wealth; ever diligent, honourable, famous |
| 12th | Sl. 24 | Adventurous, devoid of wealth, interested in others' wealth; the eldest child will not keep him happy |
Ch. 13 and Ch. 24 disagree about the 8th: decline in one, abundant land and wealth in the other. The strongest wealth rows are the 4th, 10th and 11th.
How this app grades it
The Kundali reading prints the favourable line when Mars's dignity is Exalted, Moolatrikona, Own sign or Friendly sign and the house is not the 6th, 8th or 12th. The 2nd is not a dusthana, so dignity alone decides. Ch. 13's occupant test, the Ch. 42 Mars-Saturn rule and the Maraka label are not part of that line.
Mars's natural relations in the engine: Jupiter, the Moon and the Sun friends, Mercury an enemy, Venus and Saturn neutral; the temporary half from the chart (the sign lord 2, 3, 4, 10, 11 or 12 signs from Mars is a temporary friend). In the code read for this page dignityOf() is given the chart, so:
- Always favourable: Libra and Pisces rising (Mars in its own signs) and Sagittarius rising (exalted).
- Never favourable: Gemini rising (debilitated), and Taurus and Leo rising, where Mars sits in Mercury's signs and is Neutral at best.
- Favourable when the sign lord sits in a temporary-friend position from Mars: Cancer, Scorpio and Aquarius rising (otherwise Neutral) and Aries, Virgo and Capricorn rising (otherwise Enemy sign).
dashaQuality() is stricter: good for exalted, Moolatrikona or own sign; challenging for debilitated, enemy sign or a dusthana; neutral otherwise. The Mars Mahadasha page covers the period. This app's Mangal Dosha check includes the 2nd house and grades it Mild; BPHS Ch. 80 Sl. 47 names the 12th, 4th, 7th and 8th, not the 2nd. The Mangal Dosha calculator shows the row.
Strength in the 2nd
BPHS Ch. 27 Sl. 7 measures Mars from the 4th house: no directional strength at the nadir, full at the 10th. The 2nd is two houses short of the nadir, and this engine's even steps give Mars about one-third of its directional points there. As a Panaphara the 2nd gives half of Kendradi Bal. The engine flags Mars combust within 17 degrees of the Sun and zeroes its position score. The Shad Bala calculator shows all components.
BPHS Ch. 7 says wealth is read from the Hora, the D2, and the two are best to be read together. The Hora (D2) calculator shows which half of its sign each planet falls in.
Timing
Mars has 7 of Vimshottari's 120 years (BPHS Ch. 46 Sl. 15). BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 27-32: give a good Mars dasha when Mars is exalted, in Moolatrikona or its own sign, in an angle, the 11th or the 2nd with strength, and joined by a benefic: position, wealth and land, recognition by government, good relations with co-borns. The 2nd is one of the named houses. Sl. 33 gives a weak Mars loss of wealth and distress. The Vimshottari Dasha calculator gives the dates.
For Libra and Pisces rising Mars is also the 2nd lord, and BPHS Ch. 48 gives the 2nd lord's dasha a harsh one-line result tied to the Marak idea ("distress and possibility of death", Sl. 2-4); this app keeps the life area and drops the death language: "financial and family matters - historically a house needing extra care in this Dasha". The sub-period chapters treat a sub-lord placed in Dhan as well placed and one ruling Dhan as a caution. Sub-periods are explained in Antardasha and Pratyantar. For transits, the Gochar calculator counts Mars from your natal Moon.
A worked chart
This app's engine output for 04:00 IST on 9 May 2011 in New Delhi, chosen because it is the Pisces-rising case. It is an illustration, not a reading of any person.
| Item | Engine output |
|---|---|
| Ascendant | Pisces 21.74 deg |
| Mars | Aries 4.22 deg, 2nd house, Moolatrikona; 2nd and 9th lord |
| Sun | Aries 23.98 deg, 2nd house, Exalted |
| Jupiter (Lagna lord) | Aries 0.12 deg, 2nd house, Neutral |
| Venus, Mercury | Pisces, 1st house |
| Saturn (11th lord) | Virgo 17.32 deg, retrograde, 7th house |
| Moon, Ketu | Gemini, 4th house |
| House line | Favourable: phMars2F |
| dashaQuality for Mars | Good |
| Doshas reported | Mangal Dosha, Mild; Dhan Bhava Caution (Sun) reported as favourable |
| Shad Bala (engine, of 20) | 14.08, Strong: position 10, aspect 1.5, natural 0.25, motion 0, direction 1.33, time 1 |
Mars is in its Moolatrikona, so the favourable line and a "good" dasha grade follow, and the Bhrigu Sutras' Aries clause (well educated) applies. It is 19.9 degrees from the Sun, outside the 17-degree orb, so it keeps its position score; the engine labels it Strong. The 2nd lord is Mars itself at home: Ch. 13 Sl. 1 and Sl. 10 apply, and Ch. 24 Sl. 14 and Sl. 98 for its two lordships. The same report lists Mangal Dosha (Mild) for the same Mars.
The other side. The 2nd holds two malefics, Mars and the Sun, which is Ch. 13 Sl. 2's occupant test twice over, with Jupiter beside them; the Sun's Ch. 42 rule, checked by the engine, comes out favourable because Saturn does not aspect it. Saturn is not in the 2nd, so the Mars-Saturn rule does not arise. Saravali Ch. 15 Sl. 3 reads Mars with the Sun as valorous, dull-witted, a liar and fierce. Mars aspects Cancer, Libra and Scorpio, the 5th, 8th and 9th, all empty. Ch. 34's Mars-Jupiter yoga for Pisces rising is formed here, by a hair: Jupiter crossed into Aries 0.12 degrees before the birth and sits with Mars in the 2nd, and the engine reports a Kendra-Kona Raj Yoga, "Jupiter and Mars together". Until October 2026, before the engine carried the planets to the equinox of the date, it put Jupiter at 29.97 degrees of Pisces, in the 1st, and the yoga was absent: a chart this close to a sign line can honestly read either way. The page lists these and does not net them.
A few more readings off the same figures. Saravali Ch. 25 Sl. 1-2, the Aries line, applies to this Mars: truthful, valorous, fond of adventure, charitable. The 11th lord, Saturn, is in the 7th, an angle; Ch. 13 Sl. 4-5 would need the 2nd lord in an angle with the 11th lord in a trine from it, or the two exchanged, and neither holds. Mars at 4.22 degrees is in the first ten degrees of Aries, which by BPHS Ch. 47 Sl. 3-4 brings its dasha results early in the Mars period; the engine's Vimshottari sequence here opens with Jupiter.
Your own chart
- Confirm Mars is in the sign after your Ascendant in the birth chart calculator, with its combust and retrograde flags.
- Is Mars in Aries, Scorpio or Capricorn? That is the Bhrigu Sutras' education clause and, for this house, the app's strongest dignities.
- Find the 2nd lord and the 11th lord, and apply BPHS Ch. 13 before reading the occupant alone.
- Is Saturn in the 2nd with Mars? Then check whether Mercury is in your 8th (Ch. 42 Sl. 16).
- Is Jupiter with Mars in the 2nd? That is Ch. 13 Sl. 3.
- Read both houses Mars rules in the Ch. 24 table, and its Ch. 34 role.
Method and limits are on the methodology page; the books are on the sources page.
What not to conclude
- "Mars in the 2nd means poverty." Saravali says so; the Bhrigu Sutras say gains of wealth; BPHS needs the 2nd and 11th lords damaged as well.
- "It means no education." Both texts say so only for an undignified Mars; the Bhrigu Sutras reverse it in Aries, Scorpio or Capricorn.
- "Mars and Saturn in the 2nd always destroy wealth." BPHS Ch. 42 reverses it when Mercury aspects them.
- "Mangal Dosha from the 2nd is classical." BPHS Ch. 80 does not list the 2nd; this app's broader rule does, graded Mild.
- "Maraka means danger." This app applies no Marak rule; the label belongs to a longevity method that weighs many factors.
Questions about Mars in the 2nd
- Is Mars in the 2nd house bad for money?
- The texts disagree. BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 2 reads a malefic in the 2nd against wealth and Saravali gives poverty; the Bhrigu Sutras give gains of wealth. BPHS judges the house mainly by the 2nd and 11th lords.
- Does Mars in the 2nd affect education?
- Both Saravali and the Bhrigu Sutras give a lack of learning, and the sutras reverse it when Mars is in Aries, Scorpio or Capricorn. The app's testing line speaks of strain around education.
- What is the Mars-Saturn rule for the 2nd?
- BPHS Ch. 42 Sl. 16: Mars and Saturn together in the 2nd destroy wealth, but Mercury's aspect on them gives great wealth. The app reports it as "Dhan Bhava Caution (Mars-Saturn)".
- What does Mars aspect from the 2nd?
- The 5th, 8th and 9th houses (BPHS Ch. 26). The engine counts all three as malefic aspects.
- Does Mars in the 2nd cause Mangal Dosha?
- In this app, yes, graded Mild. BPHS Ch. 80 names the 12th, 4th, 7th and 8th, exempts a Mars with a benefic's aspect or company, and ends the rule when both partners have it.
- Which rising signs give the strongest Mars in the 2nd?
- By dignity, Sagittarius (exalted), Libra and Pisces (own sign). By lordship, Cancer rising makes Mars the Yoga Karaka in the 2nd, and Pisces rising an auspicious 2nd and 9th lord.
- Does Mars in the 2nd say anything about speech or the eyes?
- BPHS Ch. 13 Sl. 12-13 tie the 2nd to the eyes and to truthful speech, through its lord and malefics joining it. The app's testing line mentions eyesight. Both are classical associations, not a diagnosis or a description of anyone's speech.
- Is a Mars dasha good with this placement?
- BPHS Ch. 47 names a strong Mars in the 2nd among the conditions for a good Mars dasha. This app grades it by dignity and house.
