In short

A karmic debt number is a total of 13, 14, 16 or 19 reached on the way to reducing a core number. This app checks five numbers for it, the Life Path, the birth day, and three Chaldean name numbers, and flags any step of the reduction that lands on one. The books do not agree on the meaning: one reads 13 and 19 as favourable.

What the term means

A karmic debt number is not a separate calculation. It is a flag raised while another number is being reduced: if any intermediate total equals 13, 14, 16 or 19, the number is marked. Those four reduce to 4, 5, 7 and 1, so the flag only ever appears beside those digits. It works like a master number in reverse: a master stops the reduction, a karmic debt lets it continue and records where it passed.

Where the term comes from

The AIFAS course notes (p.96-97) present the four numbers as a burden carried for a lesson not learned before, with one slide for each (p.97-100), and flag a Soul Urge that totals one of them (p.50). Metaphysical Secrets (Ch.2) lists the same four and attributes them to actions in previous lives. Numerology Made Easy does not use the term, and in its chapter on compound numbers it reads 13 as a misunderstood number that "should not be considered an unfortunate number" (p.102) and 19 as the most favourable of all (p.103).

How this app computes it

  • It checks the five numbers the course notes name: the Life Path total, the Chaldean name total, the raw birth day (the basic or psychic number), and the Chaldean Soul Urge and Personality totals.
  • Every step of the reduction is tested, not only the last two-digit total, so a long name total that passes through 16 on its way down is caught.
  • The flags appear in the Name Number calculator and on the Numerology page, each with the course notes' text for that number, presented as the source's reading. The notes' slide for 19 carries a stray "16" label; the engine uses the text under the 19 heading and says so in its code.

A small illustration

A birth on the 19th reduces 19 to 10 to 1, so the Mulank is 1, and the engine flags karmic debt 19 on the basic number. Run for 19 July 1996 with the name "Aarav Kapoor", that is the only flag returned. A total of 16 on its own reduces to 7 and is flagged 16.

What it needs

Name and birth date

That is more than this article asks for - it only ever takes a date, and sometimes a time, and never a name or a birth place. So this one runs on its own page, which asks for exactly what it needs and stores none of it.
