In short
A Panaphara, or succedent house, is one of the four houses that follow the angles: the 2nd, 5th, 8th and 11th. BPHS grades a planet there at half strength in one of its strength counts. This app prints "panapara house" only for the 2nd and 11th, because the 5th and 8th carry their Trikona and Dusthana labels first.
What the term means
Panaphara (also spelt panapara) names the houses that come right after each Kendra: the 2nd after the 1st, the 5th after the 4th, the 8th after the 7th and the 11th after the 10th. English texts call them succedent houses. Together with the Kendras and the Apoklimas they split the twelve houses into three sets of four, and every house belongs to exactly one of the three.
Where the term comes from
BPHS Ch. 7 Sl. 33-36 lists "Dhan, Putr, Randhr and Labh Bhava", the 2nd, 5th, 8th and 11th, as Panapharas. Ch. 27 Sl. 5 uses the three-way split in a strength count it calls Kendradi Bal, where a graha in a Panaphara gets half and one in an Apoklima a quarter. Ch. 35 Sl. 12 builds a shape yoga on it: Vapi Yog forms when all the grahas sit in all the Panapharas, or in all the Apoklimas.
How this app uses it
- The engine's list is houses 2, 5, 8 and 11, but its house-type function checks Kendra, Trikona and Dusthana first. So the 5th is reported as "trikona", the 8th as "dusthana", and "panapara house" appears for the 2nd and 11th only.
- For a 1985-06-05, 02:29 IST New Delhi chart (Pisces rising) the strength table reads Venus as "a friendly sign in Aries, panapara house (2nd)" and Jupiter as "debilitated in Capricorn, panapara house (11th)".
- The label is descriptive. This app's Shad Bala is a simplified 20-point version that does not include BPHS's Kendradi Bal, so a Panaphara placement neither adds nor removes points.
- The Nabhasa yoga test uses the full set of four: Vapi Yoga needs the seven grahas spread across all of 2, 5, 8 and 11 (or all of 3, 6, 9 and 12), every one of those houses occupied.

What it needs
Date, time and place
That is more than this article asks for - it only ever takes a date, and sometimes a time, and never a name or a birth place. So this one runs on its own page, which asks for exactly what it needs and stores none of it.
