This page applies this app's travel muhurat rules to one month, November 2026. The Muhurat calculator and the Muhurat feature run an engine that scores three 90-minute windows a day, at 06:40, 09:15 and 15:30 IST, so November has 90. Of those, 29 have the Moon in a nakshatra the engine lists for travel, 22 overlap Rahu Kaal, and 2 pass all five general rules.
Travel windows in November 2026 that pass every general rule
| Date | Window (IST) | Moon nakshatra | Tithi, paksha |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday 16 November 2026 | 9:15 AM to 10:45 AM | Shravana | 7, Shukla |
| Monday 16 November 2026 | 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM | Shravana | 7, Shukla |
No other window passes every rule. Another 26 windows miss by exactly one factor:
| The one factor that fails | Windows in November 2026 (IST) |
|---|---|
| Nakshatra not on the list: 12 | 9 Nov, 3:30 PM; 10 Nov, 6:40 and 9:15 AM; 12 Nov, all three; 19 Nov, 9:15 AM and 3:30 PM; 20 Nov, 6:40 AM and 3:30 PM; 24 Nov, 6:40 and 9:15 AM |
| Dark half (Krishna paksha): 5 | 6 Nov, 6:40 AM and 3:30 PM; 26 Nov, all three |
| Weekday not on the list: 5 | 11 Nov, 6:40 and 9:15 AM; 21 Nov, 3:30 PM; 22 Nov, 6:40 and 9:15 AM |
| Tithi on the avoided list: 2 | 17 Nov, 6:40 and 9:15 AM (Shukla 8) |
| Overlaps Rahu Kaal: 2 | 10 Nov, 3:30 PM; 16 Nov, 6:40 AM |
How the days are chosen: the five general rules
A window "passes every rule" when all five are favourable: the Moon's nakshatra, tithi and paksha at the window's start, Rahu Kaal and the weekday, the same for every reader.
| Rule | On the list for travel in this engine | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Moon nakshatra | Ashwini, Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Anuradha, Shravana, Dhanishta or Revati | The engine's list; no text in the library holds it. |
| Tithi | Not the 4th, 8th, 9th or 14th tithi of either half (engine count 1 to 30: 4, 8, 9, 14 and 19, 23, 24, 29) | The engine's list. Its comment calls 4, 9, 14 (and 19, 24, 29) the Rikta tithis and 8 and 23 Ashtami, and says no source book lists tithis to avoid. BPHS Ch. 89 Sl. 1-7 asks for no Rikta-Bhadra Dosha but does not say which tithis are Rikta. |
| Paksha | Shukla, the waxing Moon | BPHS Ch. 3 Sl. 11 and Saravali Ch. 4 Sl. 9 call the waning Moon a malefic; Saravali Ch. 4 Sl. 36 has benefics strong in the bright half. Reading that as good for a beginning is the engine's step. |
| Weekday | Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday | The engine's list; no citation. |
| Rahu Kaal | The window does not overlap it | The engine's weekday table, after Drik Panchang as its comment records. No text in the library mentions Rahu Kaal. |
That counts factors on the engine's lists; it is not the engine's score and not a ruling from any text. BPHS Ch. 89 Sl. 1-7, the one passage that sets general conditions for a muhurta, is written for a different rite and names no tithi or nakshatra. Two personal factors, the Moon's house from your ascendant and your Personal Day number, are added only in the calculator and the in-app feature; its travel house list (3, 9, 10, 11) cites no book either.
What the texts say about travel, and the junction check
No text in the library lists nakshatras, tithis or weekdays for a journey, so the engine's lists stand alone. It does hold rules for setting out, and the engine applies none of them. Saravali Ch. 3 Sl. 22 says a journey towards the direction of the rising sign, or of the Moon's sign, at its start yields fruitful results (it counts Aries east, Taurus south, Gemini west, Cancer north, and round again; Sl. 39 gives the Yavana school's variant, the direction ruled by the sign's lord). Daivajna Vallabha Ch. 15 Sl. 26-31 judges a journey by the ascendant at its start: the lord of its sign, its navamsa and its half-sign hora. These need the direction of travel, or a place and a minute, and the engine asks for neither. BPHS Ch. 11 puts a journey under the 3rd (Sl. 4) and travel under the 7th (Sl. 8); the engine's house list cites no book and leaves the 7th out.
BPHS adds a rule of its own: gandanta. BPHS Ch. 92 Sl. 1 reads birth, travel and auspicious functions such as marriage at a junction of tithis, nakshatras or lagnas as inauspicious; this site does not repeat the outcome it names. Sl. 2 puts tithi junctions at the last two ghatikas of tithis 5, 10, 15 and the first two of 1, 6, 11, which this page reads within each half (engine count: 20, 25, 30 and 16, 21, 26). Sl. 3 puts nakshatra junctions between Revati and Ashwini, Ashlesha and Magha, Jyeshtha and Mula. A ghati is 24 minutes (Ch. 5 Sl. 6-8), so two is 48. Sl. 4's lagna junctions depend on the place and the minute and are not checked here. The engine tests none of this, though Ashwini and Revati are on its list.
The two windows keep one nakshatra and one tithi throughout, and neither overlaps or comes within an hour of a junction span. Three listed near misses do: 12 November at 3:30 PM opens 22 minutes after Mula's two-ghatika span ends (about 15:08 IST), but inside Sl. 5's wider Abhukta Mula span (Mula's first eight ghatikas, to about 17:32); 20 November at 6:40 AM overlaps two tithi spans (06:30 to 08:06); 22 November at 6:40 AM, in Ashwini, opens four minutes before Ashwini's span ends (06:44). A panchang computed for your city can place those changes some minutes differently, which is worth checking for a window this close.
Worked example: the same month ranked for one reference chart
With the two personal factors added, this app's engine ranks the month for a fixed reference chart (1985-01-01 06:00 IST, New Delhi, 28.6139 N, 77.2090 E); these five are that chart's alone. The engine labels the first two Excellent and the rest Good, bands that start at scores of 78 and 62.
| Score | Window (IST) | The engine's reasons, shortened | General rules missed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 89 | Monday 16 November, 3:30 PM | Shravana; Moon 3rd house; Shukla; Personal Day 3 | None |
| 89 | Monday 16 November, 9:15 AM | Same as the row above | None |
| 70 | Sunday 1 November, 9:15 AM | Pushya; Moon 9th house; Personal Day 6 | Dark half and weekday |
| 70 | Saturday 28 November, 3:30 PM | Same as the row above | Dark half and weekday |
| 70 | Sunday 1 November, 6:40 AM | Same as the row above | Dark half and weekday |
The two windows that pass every rule lead. The three Pushya windows behind them each miss two rules, yet rank next. All five have a Moon-house line (the 3rd, or the 9th, both on the engine's travel list) and a Personal Day line, so those two factors do not explain the 19-point gap; what the 16 November pair has and the Pushya windows lack is the waxing Moon and a listed weekday.
Limits: what these windows cannot tell you
- A journey runs on timetables, roads and weather; the windows are not a departure plan.
- Three windows a day is a sample: a nakshatra or tithi changes inside the 90 minutes in 12 of the 90. The panchang and Choghadiya calculators divide the whole day, and the second covers the night.
- Times are IST, with the Moon and tithi read at each window's start and Rahu Kaal on a fixed 06:00 to 18:00 grid, so a sunrise-based panchang can differ; the Rahu Kaal calculator uses real local sunrise from a place.
- No window, whether it passes every rule or not, is a promise about a journey. The Muhurat calculator adds your chart's personal factors for the next 30 days; the December 2026 page applies these rules to the next month.
- Why do the Wednesday 11 November Anuradha windows not pass every rule for travel?
- Wednesday is not on the engine's travel weekday list (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday). Those two windows miss only that rule, as do Saturday 21 November at 3:30 PM and the Sunday 22 November windows at 6:40 and 9:15 AM.
- Why are Ashwini and Revati on the list if BPHS Ch. 92 flags their junction?
- The engine's list cites no text, and Ch. 92 flags only two ghatikas (48 minutes) either side of the change, not the whole nakshatras. In November 2026 that change is at 05:56 IST on 22 November; only that day's 6:40 AM window overlaps a span.
- Does a window that passes every rule make a journey safe?
- No. It means five factors are on the favourable side of this app's lists; this app does not forecast how a journey will go from a date.
- Can I use this for a night departure?
- Not directly: the engine samples three daytime windows and sets Rahu Kaal on a 06:00 to 18:00 grid. The Choghadiya calculator also divides the night.

What it needs
Date, time and place + What the muhurat is for
That is more than this article asks for - it only ever takes a date, and sometimes a time, and never a name or a birth place. So this one runs on its own page, which asks for exactly what it needs and stores none of it.
