In short

Of the 93 windows this app samples in December 2026, four pass every general marriage rule: 6:40 AM, 9:15 AM and 3:30 PM IST on Thursday 10 December, and 3:30 PM on Wednesday 23 December. Each has a favoured nakshatra, an unavoided tithi, the waxing Moon, a favoured weekday and no Rahu Kaal overlap. This is a filter on five general factors, not a score and not a promise.

This page applies this app's marriage muhurat rules to one month, December 2026. The engine behind the Muhurat calculator and the Muhurat feature scores three 90-minute windows a day, at 06:40, 09:15 and 15:30 IST, so December has 93. Of those, 39 have the Moon in a nakshatra the engine favours for marriage, 21 overlap Rahu Kaal, and 4 pass every general rule at once.

No other window passes every rule; another 28 miss by exactly one factor:

How the days are chosen: the five general factors

A window "passes every rule" when all five are favourable: the Moon's nakshatra, tithi and paksha at the start of the window, Rahu Kaal and the weekday. That counts factors on the engine's lists; it is neither the engine's score nor a ruling from any text.

RuleFavourable for marriage in this engineWhere it comes from
Moon nakshatraRohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada or RevatiThe engine's list; no text in the library holds it.
TithiNot the 4th, 8th, 9th or 14th tithi of either half (the engine counts 1 to 30: 4, 8, 9, 14 in the bright half, 19, 23, 24, 29 in the dark half)The engine's list. Its comment calls 4, 9, 14 (and 19, 24, 29) Rikta and 8 and 23 Ashtami, and says no source book lists tithis to avoid. BPHS Ch. 89 Sl. 1-7, written for a different rite, asks for a day without Rikta-Bhadra Dosha but does not say which tithis are Rikta.
PakshaShukla, the waxing MoonBPHS Ch. 3 Sl. 11 and Saravali Ch. 4 Sl. 9 call the waning Moon a malefic; Saravali Ch. 4 Sl. 36 has benefics strong in the bright half. Reading that as good for a beginning is the engine's step.
WeekdayMonday, Wednesday, Thursday or FridayThe engine's list; no citation.
Rahu KaalThe window does not overlap itThe engine's weekday table, after Drik Panchang as its comment records. No text in the library mentions Rahu Kaal.
The engine's lists, read from its code.

Two personal factors, the Moon's house from your ascendant (or Moon sign) and your Personal Day number, are added only in the calculator and the in-app feature; the engine's marriage house list (1, 5, 7, 9, 11) cites no book either.

What the texts name for weddings that this filter does not test

BPHS Ch. 70 Sl. 19-20 says functions like marriage are not to be held while the Sun or mean Jupiter transits a rashi with many dots in the Sun's Ashtakavarga, and are to be held when it has many rekhas; Sl. 21-23 bars the Moon's transit through a rashi with many dots in the Moon's. Ch. 72 Sl. 30-31 makes a rashi's Samudaya total the first check. Whose chart supplies the counts is not stated. The Ashtakavarga calculator counts the favourable marks, which this BPHS translation calls Rekhas, as bindus. Saravali Ch. 7 Sl. 5-6 works chart by chart: an enterprise of a bhava does better on the weekday, hora, month or year of that bhava's lord. Sl. 7-13 lists marriage among the matters Venus rules, with no weekday, nakshatra or tithi.

The third rule is gandanta. BPHS Ch. 92 Sl. 1 reads birth, travel and auspicious functions such as marriage at a junction of tithis, nakshatras or lagnas as inauspicious; this site does not repeat the outcome it names. Sl. 2 puts the tithi junctions at the last two ghatikas of tithis 5, 10 and 15 and the first two of tithis 1, 6 and 11; this page reads those numbers within each half of the month (20, 25, 30 and 16, 21, 26 in the engine's 1-30 count). Sl. 3 puts the nakshatra junctions between Revati and Ashwini, Ashlesha and Magha, Jyeshtha and Mula. A ghati is 24 minutes (Ch. 5 Sl. 6-8), so two is 48. Magha, Mula and Revati are on the engine's marriage list, and it tests none of this.

On the engine's change times, no passing window changes nakshatra or tithi inside its 90 minutes or touches a 48-minute span. Four near misses touch such a span: 9 December 6:40 AM, 24 December 6:40 AM and 28 December 3:30 PM overlap tithi spans, and 19 December 3:30 PM contains the Revati-Ashwini crossing (15:59 IST). The Moon crosses the Jyeshtha-Mula junction at 21:02 IST on 9 December. Sl. 5 names a wider span at this junction, Abhukta Mula (the last six ghatikas of Jyeshtha and the first eight of Mula); it runs from about 18:38 IST on 9 December to 00:14 on 10 December. No listed window falls inside it, and the 6:40 AM window on 10 December opens over six hours after it ends.

Worked example: the same month ranked for one reference chart

With the two personal factors added, the engine ranks the month for a fixed reference chart (1985-01-01 06:00 IST, New Delhi, 28.6139 N, 77.2090 E). These five are that chart's alone.

One reference chart, ranked by the engine.

One of the five passes every rule. The other four miss only the dark-half rule yet rank second to fifth: like 23 December they have a Moon-house line (the 11th against the 7th), and their Personal Day 9 or 1 line nearly makes up for the waning Moon. The three Mula windows of 10 December pass every rule and miss the top five: for this chart the Moon is then in the 2nd house, not on the marriage list, and the Personal Day is 7, which adds no support.

Limits: what these windows cannot tell you

  • They are not a verdict on any couple. A wedding involves two charts; the Kundli matching calculator compares them.
  • Three windows a day is a sample: 13 of December's 93 change nakshatra or tithi inside their 90 minutes. Times are IST and Rahu Kaal sits on a fixed 06:00 to 18:00 grid, so a sunrise-based panchang can differ; the panchang, Choghadiya and Rahu Kaal calculators cover the whole day or a place.
  • No window, whether it passes every rule or not, is a promise about a marriage. The Muhurat calculator takes your birth date, time, place and one activity and returns the top three windows of the 30 days from the day you use it. See also November 2026 and January 2027.
Why do all three windows on 10 December pass every rule but only one on 23 December?
The Moon stays in Mula all day on 10 December, and Thursday's Rahu Kaal on the engine's grid (13:30 to 15:00) misses all three windows. On 23 December Shukla 14, an avoided tithi, runs until 10:50 IST, so the morning windows fail it.
Why does no window after 23 December pass every rule?
From 7:01 AM on 24 December the engine reads the dark half, so later windows fail the paksha rule. The last Shukla window, 24 December 6:40 AM, is in Ardra, which is not on the list.
Why is Friday 18 December not on the list?
Shukla 9 is an avoided tithi, and the 9:15 AM window also overlaps Friday's Rahu Kaal (10:30 to 12:00 on the engine's grid).
Does a window that passes every rule guarantee a good marriage?
No. It only means five factors are on the favourable side of this app's lists; this app does not forecast how a marriage will go.

What it needs

Date, time and place + What the muhurat is for

That is more than this article asks for - it only ever takes a date, and sometimes a time, and never a name or a birth place. So this one runs on its own page, which asks for exactly what it needs and stores none of it.
