In short
In this app a 7 is in harmony with only 4, 7 and 8, the shortest row in the table, so a 7 gets fewer Strong labels than other numbers. Yet two book tables list no enemy for the 7 at all, and the 4 is endorsed by every source. The tables disagree about the 3 and the 8, and none of them is a verdict.
A Mulank 7 is anyone born on the 7th, 16th or 25th of a month. This app gives the 7 Ketu as its ruler and the title "The Seeker". As with every number, its compatibility is a set of lookups in printed tables from different books, and for the 7 those tables are unusually lopsided: the one the app uses for its label is the most restrictive, and two of the book tables are the most permissive. For the number itself, read Number 7 in numerology; for the inputs, Mulank and Bhagyank.
How number 7 compatibility is worked out
numerologyMatch() runs two lookups in the harmony table. The 7's row has just three numbers, 4, 7 and 8, where every other row has four or five. The 4 and the 8 both list 7 back, so the lookup is symmetric.
- Mulank: is the partner's Mulank 4, 7 or 8?
- Bhagyank: is the partner's Bhagyank in the row of the 7's own Bhagyank? Masters are read at their root, 11 as 2, 22 as 4 and 33 as 6, for this lookup only.
- Both found: "Strong". One: "Workable". Neither: "Needs effort". The printed note follows the Mulank lookup.
The short row carries through to the Numerology Profile. A Mulank 7 has three favourable numbers (4, 7, 8) and ten favourable dates (4, 7, 8, 13, 16, 17, 22, 25, 26 and 31), against fourteen for each of the Mulanks 1 to 4 and seventeen for the 5 and the 6. Its favourable letters are G, P and Y. The label itself appears in the numerology panel of the match tool and the Love Compatibility calculator.
Number 7 against all nine numbers
Four book readings sit beside the label on the compatibility feature. Several are one-way for the 7, and both directions are given.
| Partner | App harmony | AVN friend / enemy (7 to it / it to 7) | AVN anti-combination | Graha friendship (7 to it / it to 7) | Life Path marriage (7 to it / it to 7) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | No | Neutral | - | Friendly / neutral | Unlisted |
| 2 | No | Neutral | - | Neutral | Unlisted |
| 3 | No | Neutral | - | Friendly | Challenging |
| 4 | Yes | Friend | - | Friendly | Compatible |
| 5 | No | Neutral | - | Friendly / neutral | Compatible |
| 6 | No | Friend / neutral | - | Friendly | Challenging |
| 7 | Yes | Neutral | Same number: avoid | Neutral | Unlisted |
| 8 | Yes | Friend / neutral | - | Neutral / friendly | Challenging / unlisted |
| 9 | No | Neutral | - | Neutral | Compatible |
Look down the friend / enemy and planetary columns and there is no "enemy" or "non-friendly" anywhere. Advanced Vedic Numerology gives the 7 three friends (4, 8, 6), five neutrals and no enemy; Vedic Numerology Basic's Ketu row has no non-friendly column. Both are generous in one direction only, though: the 7 calls the 6 and the 8 friends, while the 6 and the 8 call the 7 neutral. The anti-combination table prints "Nil" for 7, as it does for 5, so the only thing it can say about a 7 is to avoid a shared Mulank.
The 4 is the single partner every table endorses: in harmony, a friend, friendly both ways, compatible both ways on the Life Path list. The 8 is in the harmony row and a friend of the 7, but a Life Path challenge.
What the books say about pairing a 7
- Advanced Vedic Numerology, "Number Compatibility" (p.37): friends 4, 8 and 6; neutrals 1, 2, 9, 3 and 5; no enemies. It is the only number in that table without one.
- Its "Marriage Compatibility" page (p.103) lists no anti partner for 7 ("Nil"), while still asking couples not to share a Moolank or Bhagyank.
- Vedic Numerology Basic, "Compatibility of Numbers": Ketu, which the slide also calls Neptune, counts 4, 6, 1 and 5 as friendly and 8, 9, 2 and 7 as neutral. The 3 appears twice, once friendly with the gloss "Knowledge" and once neutral with an asterisk; the engine, checking the friendly list first, reports it as friendly.
- Vedic Numerology Basic, Life Path 7 "The Seeker": compatible with 4, 5 and 9; potential challenges with 3, 6 and 8. The 5 and the 8 also have three challenges listed.
- Numerology: Metaphysical Secrets, Ch. 9, gives the shortest list: a Seven is most compatible with 5 and 3. It agrees with Vedic Numerology Basic on the 5 and contradicts it on the 3.
- The Destiny Number grid in Numerology Masters Notes (p.179), read on the Bhagyanks: a Destiny 7 is graded A with 1, 4 and 22; B with 2, 7, 9 and 11; C with 3, 5, 6 and 33; and D with 8.
The A with 22 lines up with the harmony table, which reads a Bhagyank of 22 as 4, the partner every source endorses for a 7. The D with 8 does not: the harmony table puts the 8 in the 7's row.
Worked example: a 7 January 1990 birth with three partners
- Person A, 7 January 1990: Mulank 7. Bhagyank 7 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 27, and 2 + 7 = 9. Row 9 of the harmony table is 1, 3, 5 and 9.
- Partner 5 January 1993: Mulank 5; Bhagyank 5 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 3 = 28, 2 + 8 = 10, 1 + 0 = 1.
- Partner 4 January 1993: Mulank 4; Bhagyank 27, 2 + 7 = 9.
- Partner 1 January 1993: Mulank 1; Bhagyank 24, 2 + 4 = 6.
| Partner | Mulanks | Bhagyanks | Harmony label | AVN relation (7 to it) | Chinese grid (Bhagyanks) | Life Path marriage (Bhagyanks) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 Jan 1993 | 7 and 5 | 9 and 1 | Workable (Bhagyank only) | Neutral | D, challenging | Unlisted |
| 4 Jan 1993 | 7 and 4 | 9 and 9 | Strong | Friend | A, best match | Unlisted |
| 1 Jan 1993 | 7 and 1 | 9 and 6 | Needs effort | Neutral | A, best match | Compatible both ways |
The 4 January partner gets the best of every table that rates the pair: the Strong label, a friend in Advanced Vedic Numerology, an A in the Destiny grid. The 1 January partner shows the short row at work. The Mulank 1 is not in row 7 and the Bhagyank 6 is not in row 9, so the label is "Needs effort", while the Destiny grid gives its best grade to 9 with 6 and the Life Path list marks 9 and 6 compatible both ways.
Reading a 7's results
Because the 7's row is short, a 7 will see "Needs effort" more often than anyone else, for reasons that have nothing to do with the partner beyond one digit. The book tables point the other way: one has no enemies for the 7 and the other no non-friendly entry. Reading both together, and noting which number each one reads (the Mulank for the friend / enemy table, the anti pair and the planetary slide; the Bhagyank for the Destiny grid and the Life Path list), is the only fair way to use them.
How often a 7 gets each label
For the 7 January 1990 birth, the engine checked every partner date from 1 January 1985 to 31 December 1999, 5,478 dates: only 761 came out Strong, 2,641 Workable and 2,076 Needs effort. The partner's Mulank was in row 7 on 1,725 dates, against 2,433 to 3,045 for the Mulanks 1 to 6 on the same check. That is the three-number row at work, not anything particular to a 7 as a person.
What number compatibility cannot tell you
Each reading is two digits looked up in a printed table. For the 7, the most restrictive table sets the label and the most permissive ones sit beside it. The app keeps all of them under their sources and picks none. A chart-based reading is in the Kundli Matching calculator. Neighbouring pages: number 4 compatibility, number 5, number 6 and number 8; and Mulank, Bhagyank and Life Path for the inputs.
- Which numbers are compatible with 7 in this app?
- In the harmony table that sets the label: 4, 7 and 8. It is the shortest row in the table.
- Why do I get "Needs effort" so often?
- Because the 7's harmony row has three numbers, against four or five for the others. Against every partner date from 1985 to 1999, a 7 January 1990 birth got Needs effort 2,076 times out of 5,478.
- Does any book list enemies for the 7?
- Advanced Vedic Numerology lists none, and Vedic Numerology Basic's planetary row for Ketu has no non-friendly entry. The Life Path list names 3, 6 and 8 as potential challenges, and the Destiny grid gives 8 its lowest grade.
- Are 7 and 3 compatible?
- Metaphysical Secrets names 3 among the 7's best partners; Vedic Numerology Basic lists it as a Life Path challenge; the planetary slide lists it as both friendly and neutral. The harmony table does not include it. See number 3 compatibility for the same pair from the other side.
- Is a Strong label a promise?
- No. It reports that two digit lookups both matched in one table. The Life Path calculator shows your two birth numbers; nothing else enters the label.

What it needs
Name and birth date
That is more than this article asks for - it only ever takes a date, and sometimes a time, and never a name or a birth place. So this one runs on its own page, which asks for exactly what it needs and stores none of it.
