This page applies this app's business-launch muhurat rules to January 2027. The Muhurat calculator and the Muhurat feature run an engine that scores three 90-minute windows a day, at 06:40, 09:15 and 15:30 IST, so January has 93. Of those, 37 have a nakshatra it lists for a business launch, 23 overlap Rahu Kaal, and 3 pass every general rule.
Business launch windows in January 2027 that pass every general rule
| Date | Window (IST) | Moon nakshatra | Tithi, paksha |
|---|---|---|---|
| Friday 8 January | 3:30 to 5:00 PM | Uttara Ashadha | 1, Shukla |
| Monday 11 January | 9:15 to 10:45 AM | Dhanishta | 3, Shukla (4 from 09:31) |
| Friday 22 January | 3:30 to 5:00 PM | Pushya | 15, Shukla |
The 11 January window passes on Shukla 3, read at its start; a start from 09:31, 16 minutes in, would fall on Shukla 4, an avoided tithi. No other window passes every rule; 32 more miss by exactly one factor:
| The one factor that fails | Windows in January 2027 (IST) |
|---|---|
| Nakshatra not on the list: 14 | 8 Jan, 6:40 AM; 13 and 14 Jan, all three; 15 Jan, 6:40 AM; 18 Jan, 9:15 AM and 3:30 PM; 20 Jan, all three; 22 Jan, 6:40 AM |
| Dark half (Krishna paksha): 9 | 1 Jan, 3:30 PM; 4 Jan, 9:15 AM and 3:30 PM; 27 Jan, all three; 28 Jan, all three |
| Weekday not on the list: 6 | 9 Jan, 6:40 AM and 3:30 PM (Saturday); 10 Jan, 6:40 AM and 9:15 AM (Sunday); 19 Jan, 6:40 AM and 9:15 AM (Tuesday) |
| Overlaps Rahu Kaal: 2 | 8 Jan, 9:15 AM; 11 Jan, 6:40 AM |
| Tithi on the avoided list: 1 | 11 Jan, 3:30 PM (Shukla 4) |
How the days are chosen: the five general factors
A window "passes every rule" when all five are favourable: the Moon's nakshatra, tithi and paksha at the window's start, Rahu Kaal and the weekday. That counts factors on the engine's lists; it is neither the engine's score nor a ruling from any text.
| Rule | On the list for a business launch in this engine | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Moon nakshatra | Ashwini, Rohini, Pushya, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Chitra, Anuradha, Uttara Ashadha, Shravana or Dhanishta | The engine's list; no text in the library holds it. |
| Tithi | Not the 4th, 8th, 9th or 14th tithi of either half (the engine counts 1 to 30: 4, 8, 9, 14 in the bright half, 19, 23, 24, 29 in the dark half) | The engine's list. Its comment calls 4, 9, 14 (and 19, 24, 29) Rikta and 8 and 23 Ashtami, and says no source book lists tithis to avoid. BPHS Ch. 89 Sl. 1-7 asks for a day without Rikta-Bhadra Dosha but does not say which tithis are Rikta. |
| Paksha | Shukla, the waxing Moon | BPHS Ch. 3 Sl. 11 and Saravali Ch. 4 Sl. 9 call the waning Moon a malefic; Saravali Ch. 4 Sl. 36 has benefics strong in the bright half. Reading that as good for a beginning is the engine's step. |
| Weekday | Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday | The engine's list; no citation. |
| Rahu Kaal | The window does not overlap it | The engine's weekday table, after Drik Panchang as its comment records. No text in the library mentions Rahu Kaal. |
Two personal factors, the Moon's house from your ascendant (or Moon sign) and your Personal Day number, are added only in the calculator and the in-app feature; the engine's house list (1, 2, 3, 10, 11) cites no book.
What the texts say about starting a business, and the junction check
A search of this library's texts found no muhurat rule, and no list of nakshatras, tithis or weekdays, for starting a business. BPHS Ch. 11 says what houses signify, not when to act: wealth under the 2nd (Sl. 3), trade under the 7th (Sl. 8), profession under the 10th (Sl. 11), income under the 11th (Sl. 12). The engine's launch list has the 2nd, 10th and 11th but leaves the 7th out; the match is this page's observation, not a source the engine cites.
The other text is gandanta. BPHS Ch. 92 Sl. 1 reads birth, travel and auspicious functions such as marriage at a junction of tithis, nakshatras or lagnas as inauspicious; this site does not repeat the outcome it names. A launch is not among its examples, so the check below describes the windows; it is not a rule. Sl. 2 puts the tithi junctions at the last two ghatikas of tithis 5, 10 and 15 and the first two of tithis 1, 6 and 11; this page reads those numbers within each half of the month (20, 25, 30 and 16, 21, 26 in the engine's 1-30 count). Sl. 3 puts the nakshatra junctions between Revati and Ashwini, Ashlesha and Magha, Jyeshtha and Mula. A ghati is 24 minutes (Ch. 5 Sl. 6-8), so two is 48. The engine tests none of this, though Ashwini is on its launch list.
On the engine's change times, two of the three passing windows keep one nakshatra and one tithi throughout and none overlaps a 48-minute span. Among the near misses, 9:15 AM on 18 January overlaps the last 48 minutes of Shukla 10 and the first 48 of Shukla 11 (9:41 to 11:17 AM). Three windows sit close to a change: 9:15 AM on 11 January (the tithi), 3:30 PM on 22 January (it ends one minute before the last 48 minutes of Shukla 15 begin) and 9:15 AM on 8 January (a Rahu Kaal near miss that opens as the Moon enters Uttara Ashadha from Purva Ashadha, off the list). A panchang computed for your city can place those changes some minutes differently, which is worth checking for a window this close. The Moon crosses the Jyeshtha-Mula junction at 03:09 IST on 6 January, and Sl. 5 names a wider span at this junction, Abhukta Mula (the last six ghatikas of Jyeshtha and the first eight of Mula); on 6 January that runs from about 00:45 to 06:21 IST. No listed window falls inside it.
Worked example: the same month ranked for one reference chart
With the two personal factors added, the engine ranks the month for a fixed reference chart (1985-01-01 06:00 IST, New Delhi, 28.6139 N, 77.2090 E). These five are that chart's alone.
| Score | Window (IST) | The engine's reasons, shortened | General rule missed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 83 | Saturday 9 January, 6:40 AM | Uttara Ashadha; Moon in 3rd house; Shukla; Personal Day 5 | Weekday |
| 83 | Sunday 10 January, 9:15 AM | Shravana; Moon in 3rd house; Shukla; Personal Day 6 | Weekday |
| 82 | Sunday 10 January, 6:40 AM | Same as the row above | Weekday |
| 81 | Saturday 9 January, 3:30 PM | Shravana; Moon in 3rd house; Shukla; Personal Day 5 | Weekday |
| 79 | Friday 8 January, 3:30 PM | Uttara Ashadha; Moon in 2nd house; Shukla | None |
One of the five passes every rule, and it ranks fifth. The four above it miss the weekday rule but have the Moon in the 3rd house, on the list, the waxing Moon and a supportive Personal Day (5 or 6). The 8 January window has a listed house (the 2nd) and the waxing Moon too, so neither separates them; its Personal Day is 4, which adds no support, and that gap outweighs the weekday bonus only it earns. The other two passing windows rank outside the top eight: the Moon is in this chart's 9th house on 22 January and its 4th on 11 January, neither on the launch list.
Limits: what these windows cannot tell you
- They are not a verdict on any venture: a launch involves a market, money, people and paperwork, none of which the filter tests.
- Windows are a sample: 8 of January's 93 change nakshatra or tithi inside their 90 minutes. Times are IST on a fixed 06:00 to 18:00 Rahu Kaal grid, so a sunrise-based panchang can differ; the panchang, Choghadiya and Rahu Kaal calculators cover the whole day or a place.
- No window, whether it passes every rule or not, is a promise about a business. The Muhurat calculator takes your birth date, time, place and one activity and returns the top three windows of the 30 days from the day you use it. See also December 2026 and February 2027.
- Why do only three windows pass every rule?
- Of the 37 windows with a listed nakshatra, 18 are in the bright half, and 15 of those miss the weekday, tithi or Rahu Kaal rule.
- Why is 6:40 AM on 11 January not on the list when 9:15 AM is?
- Monday's Rahu Kaal on the engine's grid is 7:30 to 9:00 AM, which the 6:40 AM window overlaps.
- Does a window that passes every rule guarantee a business will do well?
- No. It means five factors are on the favourable side of this app's lists, not a forecast.
- Should I use the day I register the business or the day I open it?
- No text cited here says which counts, and the calculator does not ask.

What it needs
Date, time and place + What the muhurat is for
That is more than this article asks for - it only ever takes a date, and sometimes a time, and never a name or a birth place. So this one runs on its own page, which asks for exactly what it needs and stores none of it.
