- For a Cancer Moon, Saturn's 7½-year phase (Sade Sati) is Saturn's time in Gemini, Cancer and Leo. It tends to ask for patience and steady habits.
- The phase comes in three parts of about two and a half years. In the first, Saturn is in Gemini, your 12th house (expenses, rest, letting go). In the middle, Saturn is in Cancer, over your Moon sign (your mind and emotions). In the last, Saturn is in Leo, your 2nd house (money, family, speech). This phase is not running in 2027; the next one comes later.
- The app reads the first two parts as testing and the last as steadier: slow, disciplined progress. The phase tends to bring a wish to save money, read agreements twice, keep targets in writing and avoid rash moves in work and money. Saturn can also pause for a few months and return, because it moves backwards for part of each year.
- In daily life, you may feel more tired or serious than usual. You may want fewer, more important commitments.
- Under strain you may feel low or lose interest in things. Regular sleep, regular meals and time with people you trust help, and a doctor is the right person for any health worry.
- Why: Saturn (discipline, patience, responsibility) moves through the sign before your Moon sign, your Moon sign and the sign after it. The Moon stands for mind, mood and emotions, so Saturn near it tends to slow and sober your inner life.
- Keep a money reserve for the whole phase and write your work or study targets down.
- This phase is a later tradition and is not named in the oldest texts. It is a period asking for steadiness, not a prediction of bad events or an omen.
For a Moon in Cancer (Karka), Sade Sati is Saturn's passage through Gemini, Cancer and Leo, the 12th, 1st and 2nd signs from the Moon sign. No cycle contains 2027; the first cycle after 2026 runs from 30 May 2032 to 14 July 2039 in this app's computation, with one pause of 163 days. The rule, with the dates for all twelve Moon signs, is on the Sade Sati page; the sign is described in Cancer, Karka rashi.
Nothing here says what will happen to anyone. Everyone born with the Moon in sidereal Cancer shares these dates, whatever their ascendant, dasha or circumstances. The Sade Sati calculator checks a birth date.
Dates: every stay of Saturn in Gemini, Cancer and Leo
The table lists each stay of Saturn during the first cycle after 2026, including the pause. Where Saturn turns retrograde (vakri) near a sign boundary it leaves and returns, and each crossing is its own row. Degrees are the lowest and highest Saturn reaches in a stay inside the three signs.

Dates are UTC. Two changes fall after 18:30 UTC, and so on the following calendar day in India: 12 July 2034 at 23:09 (13 July) and 3 April 2039 at 20:20 (4 April). None falls within an hour of midnight in India. Other software can differ by hours to a day or two near an ingress; why Sade Sati dates differ between sources explains how.
- The cycle ends in two steps. Saturn leaves Leo for Virgo on 23 October 2038, falls back into Leo on 3 April 2039 and leaves for good on 14 July 2039. Virgo is the 3rd from a Cancer Moon: the Sade Sati check reads not active for those 163 days, and the Gochara rules read the 3rd as favourable for Saturn, as Advanced Predictive Astrology does (p. 311).
- The first three stays are single blocks of 773, 777 and 786 days: Saturn crosses Gemini, Cancer and Leo once each before the end shuffle.
All cycles between 1990 and 2060
A Cancer Moon has two complete Sade Sati cycles in this app's 1990-2060 scan, and neither is cut off.

None of the four dates in the table falls at or after 17:30 UTC, so each is the same date in India.
The 2002 cycle was far more shuffled: its eight stays gave 819 days of rising phase in three, 842 of peak in three and 852 of setting in two, and its pause was 93 days with Saturn in Taurus, the 11th, from 6 January to 9 April 2003. The 2032 cycle has four stays, with parts of 773 days, 777 and 888 (two stays).
The three phases for a Cancer Moon
The engine names the phases after the three dhaiyas (two-and-a-half-year portions) and shows one sentence beside whichever is active: "A classical ~7.5-year period of intensified pressure and restructuring - traditionally read as a time to consolidate rather than expand, not as an omen" (the engine's wording; the period is not named in BPHS or Saravali, as shown below). The Gochar calculator adds a verdict for Saturn in each sign.
- Rising, Saturn in Gemini (12th): 773 days in one stay in the 2032-2039 cycle. Gochara verdict: testing. See Saturn transit in Gemini.
- Peak, Saturn in Cancer (1st): 777 days in one stay. Gochara verdict: testing, and the engine raises its "intensified" flag, because its table pairs Saturn with the 1st from the Moon; Advanced Predictive Astrology (Vol. II, p. 311) gives the same pairing from a Tamil palm-leaf reading. What the texts say, and what they do not
Sade Sati is a later tradition: a search of BPHS (both copies in the library), Saravali and the Bhrigu Sutras for "sade", "sadhe", "seven and a half" and "dhaiya" finds no passage that names it, and what BPHS and Saravali hold is Saturn's transit read through the Ashtakavarga (BPHS Ch. 66 Sl. 70-72 and Ch. 70 Sl. 43-44; Saravali Ch. 53 Sl. 1 and 9-10, whose "benefic dots" are BPHS's Rekhas). The corpus book that names the period is the modern Advanced Predictive Astrology (Vol. II, Ch. 7, pp. 311-312), which defines it as Saturn in the 12th, 1st and 2nd from the Moon, "once in 30 yrs". The Sade Sati page sets out the whole account.
Advanced Predictive Astrology (p. 312) reports a school of thought in North India that names, for each Moon sign, the portion of Sade Sati in which the results are adverse; for Cancer it gives "Middle 2.5 yrs". The book counts years, not signs. This page reads the middle portion as the peak, because the engine pairs each of its three phases with one dhaiya: Saturn in Cancer, 777 days in one stay in the 2032-2039 cycle. The engine ignores the list; house by house, the same signs are read on Saturn transit for Cancer Moon sign.
Saravali Ch. 53 Sl. 9-10 adds that Saturn, like the Moon, gives its transit results while in the end portion of a sign. The text does not say how large that portion is. The cycle's last stay, Saturn's return to Leo from 3 April 2039, is spent between 27.95 and 30.00 degrees.
Saravali Ch. 53 Sl. 9-10 also qualifies the Ashtakavarga reading by sign: benefic results predominate when the sign transited is one of exaltation, own or friendly, and malefic results in debilitation or an enemy's sign. Gemini is Mercury's sign, Cancer is the Moon's and Leo is the Sun's (BPHS Ch. 4 Sl. 9-9½, 10-11 and 12); none is Saturn's own sign nor its exaltation or debilitation (BPHS Ch. 3 Sl. 49-50). Computed with no birth chart, the engine labels Gemini a friendly sign for Saturn and Cancer and Leo enemy signs, the natural relation only, as in Saravali Ch. 4 Sl. 28-29 (Saturn's friends Mercury and Venus; its enemies the Sun, Moon and Mars). The engine's verdict looks at the house only.
Advanced Predictive Astrology (p. 312) also says that once Saturn enters the 3rd sign from the Moon the person turns "a new leaf". For a Cancer Moon that sign is Virgo, which Saturn first enters on 23 October 2038 and enters for good on 14 July 2039 in this app's computation.
What changes the reading for one chart
A phase is a calendar position computed from the Moon sign alone. The sources name more.
- Saturn's own condition. Advanced Predictive Astrology (pp. 311-312) sets the rule aside for a yogakaraka Saturn well placed with benefic association or aspect, and says the period "does not make much difference" when the Moon is with Saturn at birth. Both depend on the birth chart; see Saturn in Vedic astrology.
- Saturn's Ashtakavarga table (BPHS Ch. 70 Sl. 43-44). The counts for the three signs are chart-specific. This BPHS translation calls the favourable marks Rekhas and the unfavourable ones dots; the Ashtakavarga calculator counts the favourable ones and calls them bindus.
- The running dasha. Advanced Predictive Astrology (p. 312) treats a Saturn Mahadasha together with Sade Sati as the heavier combination. The Vimshottari Dasha calculator and the Timing feature show the periods.
What to take care of
The later transit writing reads Sade Sati as a testing period and names the areas. Advanced Predictive Astrology (Vol. II, pp. 311-312) writes of "much depression, disappointment" and "lack of interest in any matter in life", one modern author's reading of a transit, not a medical statement. It adds trouble concentrating on studies; delayed promotion, a disliked transfer, financial loss and quarrels with superiors or subordinates early in a career; and tension, travel, threats from enemies and theft. Phaladeepika Ch. 26 Sl. 9, as Advanced Predictive Astrology quotes it (p. 312), gives fatigue, loss of wealth and anger for Saturn's passage through the Janma Rasi, which for a Cancer Moon is Cancer. The book's list goes on to graver events and to named people's lives; this page leaves those out, as this app does not forecast such events.
- Money: keep savings for the whole period, avoid large unsecured loans, and read contracts twice before signing.
- Work and study: put agreed targets in writing, raise a misunderstanding with a senior early and calmly, think a transfer or job change through before accepting it, and keep a steady study routine.
- Health and travel: get the check-up you have been postponing, rest when you are tired, drive with care on long trips and keep documents and valuables safe when travelling. This is not a diagnosis - see a doctor for any symptom.

- Is a Cancer Moon in Sade Sati during 2027?
- No. In this app's computation Saturn is in Pisces and Aries during 2027, the 9th and 10th signs from a Cancer Moon. The 2002-2009 cycle ended on 10 September 2009, and the first cycle after 2026 begins on 30 May 2032.
- Is Saturn's time in Virgo from 23 October 2038 to 3 April 2039 part of Sade Sati for a Cancer Moon?
- By the engine's rule, no: Virgo is the 3rd from the Moon and the check reads not active for those 163 days. It is the same cycle, not a new one, because Saturn returns to Leo on 3 April 2039 (4 April in India) and leaves it for Virgo again on 14 July 2039.
- Why does the engine call Cancer and Leo enemy signs for Saturn?
- Its table of natural relations counts the Moon and the Sun among Saturn's enemies, as Saravali Ch. 4 Sl. 28-29 does, and with no birth chart it uses that natural relation alone. A chart adds a temporary relation (BPHS Ch. 3 Sl. 56) that can change the label for a person; the Sade Sati check uses no dignity at all.
- Why might another source give a different date for 12 July 2034?
- This app puts Saturn's entry into Cancer at 23:09 UTC on 12 July 2034, which is 04:39 on 13 July in India. A source working in another time zone, or with another ayanamsa or algorithm, can print a different day.
