Taurus and Pisces Moons score 13 to 27 out of 36 in this app's Ashtakoot engine with Taurus first (12 to 26 with Pisces first), median 24. The 11/3 distance keeps Bhakoot, but Jupiter counts Venus an enemy. Tara and Yoni never move. Worked example included.

In short

A Taurus Moon with a Pisces Moon scores between 13 and 27 out of 36 across all 81 nakshatra-quarter pairings in this app, median 24, with Taurus entered first; Pisces first lowers each pairing by one Varna point. Bhakoot is a full 7 at the 11/3 distance, while Graha Maitri is 1 because Jupiter counts Venus as an enemy.

Venus rules Taurus and, according to BPHS, is exalted in Pisces. So the planet of one sign is at its strongest in the other. Guna Milan does not count that. It asks how Venus and Jupiter, the two sign lords, regard each other, and Jupiter lists Venus as an enemy. The pair is held back on that koota and helped by its 11/3 distance, and the result is a fairly high median, 24, with a range that the nakshatras alone decide.

For the signs, see Taurus, Vrishabha rashi and Pisces, Meena rashi. The nakshatra matching hub explains the system and links all 78 sign pairs, and the Kundli matching calculator scores two real charts.

Vrishabh and Meen in BPHS

BPHS Ch. 4 Sl. 8 describes Vrishabh as an earthy, fixed quadruped of the South, ruled by Shukr, linked with villages and businessmen. Sl. 22-24 describes Meen as "a pair of fish, one tailed with the head of the other": watery, Sattvic, footless, strong at night, a water-resorter that "denotes resoluteness", rising with both head and back, ruled by Guru. Sl. 5-5.5 makes Meen dual and phlegmatic. Ch. 3 Sl. 49-50 places Venus's exaltation in Meen, deepest at 27 degrees, and the Moon's in Vrishabh. Both signs, then, host an exaltation that matters to this pair's planets, but the koota arithmetic uses none of it.

BPHS does not give Meen a social class; the engine's header says it takes water's value, which its table calls Brahmin.

A Taurus Moon falls in Krittika padas 2-4, Rohini or Mrigashira padas 1-2. A Pisces Moon falls in Purva Bhadrapada pada 4, Uttara Bhadrapada or Revati. That is 81 pairings.

The signs fix 9.5 of 15 points with Taurus first and 8.5 with Pisces first. Over the 81 pairings the total runs 13 to 27 out of 36 (median 24) in the first order and 12 to 26 (median 23) in the second. With Tara and Yoni constant, the 14-point spread is entirely Gana and Nadi.

Graha Maitri: Jupiter's view of Venus

BPHS Ch. 3 Sl. 55, as the engine lists it, gives Jupiter two natural enemies: Mercury and Venus. Venus's own lists name Mercury and Saturn as friends and the Sun and Moon as enemies, and leave Jupiter out, so Venus is neutral. The engine's references disagree on a neutral-enemy pair (0.5 in one, 1 in another), and it keeps its earlier 1 for Graha Maitri. Taurus with Sagittarius, Jupiter's other sign, gets the same 1.

Bhakoot: 11 and 3

Counting inclusively, Pisces is the 11th sign from Taurus and Taurus the 3rd from Pisces. The engine's Bhakoot rule scores 0 only at 2/12, 5/9 and 6/8, so all 81 pairings keep 7. The rule comes from two web references named in the engine's header; no book here contains it.

Varna and Vashya

The engine's Varna table puts Vrishabh at the Vaishya value and Meen, by element, at the Brahmin value, which the engine numbers lowest. Its rule awards the point when the first entry's value is at least the second's: Taurus first, 1; Pisces first, 0. The header leaves that asymmetry open. Varna here is a koota name only. Vashya groups Taurus with Aries and Sagittarius and Pisces with Cancer and Scorpio, two apart, for 0.5.

Gana and Nadi: where the range comes from

Tara is 1.5 in all 81 pairings, because the star count is favourable in one direction only. Yoni is 2 in all 81: the Pisces animals (Lion, Cow, Elephant) neither match nor oppose the Taurus ones (Sheep, Serpent). That leaves two kootas, worth 14 points together, to do all the sorting.

On the Nadi side, the Pisces stars run Aadi (Purva Bhadrapada), Madhya (Uttara Bhadrapada), Antya (Revati). Krittika and Rohini, both Antya, clash with Revati; Mrigashira, Madhya, clashes with Uttara Bhadrapada. For Gana, both Bhadrapadas are Manushya and Revati Deva, against Krittika Rakshasa, Rohini Manushya and Mrigashira Deva. Krittika with Revati therefore loses both: Gana 0 for Rakshasa against Deva, and Nadi 0. Mrigashira with Revati gains both: Gana 6 and Nadi 8. These are categories for stars, not for people.

At pada midpoints the engine's lowest pairing is exactly that first case, a Taurus Moon in Krittika (about 1.5 degrees) with a Pisces Moon in Revati (about 18 degrees): total 13. The highest is a Taurus Moon in Mrigashira (about 28 degrees) with a Pisces Moon in Revati (about 28 degrees): total 27. Revati sits at both ends of the range; the Taurus star decides which.

It is worth noticing where the pairs that lose Nadi lie. On the Pisces side, Revati covers the last thirteen and a third degrees of the sign, so a Pisces Moon late in the sign is the one that clashes with the early-Taurus stars. A birth time that is a few hours out can move a Pisces Moon across that boundary. The Taurus side is similar: Mrigashira begins at 23 degrees 20 minutes of Taurus, and a Moon either side of that line pairs very differently with Revati.

The nakshatra calculator finds the exact star; Moon sign and nakshatra explains why it matters as much as the sign.

Worked example: Taurus 1 degree with Pisces 1 degree

At 1 degree of Taurus the Moon is in Krittika, second pada. At 1 degree of Pisces it is in Purva Bhadrapada, fourth pada, the only part of that star inside Pisces. Taurus entered first:

Total2436
ashtakoot() for Taurus 1 deg with Pisces 1 deg (engine-facts.mjs, run 2026-10-14). Pisces first, Varna becomes 0 and the total 23.

The example equals the median. Bhakoot and Nadi bring 15 points; the Gana 3 is the middle value on the engine's disputed cross-Gana scale; and Graha Maitri contributes just 1. That last figure is the one most readers find surprising for this pair, given Venus's exaltation in Pisces, and it is a good reminder that the koota system was built on lord-to-lord relationships, not on dignities. A reader who knows the classical strengths of these planets should set that knowledge aside when reading this particular number, because the engine deliberately does not use it.

A 24 describes two Moon positions under one rule set. It is not a verdict on two people, and this app offers no remedies for any koota. Nadi dosha covers the Nadi 0 cases, and Mangal dosha: what it is and is not the separate Mars check.

What the texts say

BPHS supplies the descriptions of Vrishabh and Meen, Venus's exaltation, and the Venus-Jupiter relationship. It contains no Ashtakoot rules, and neither do Saravali, the Bhrigu Sutras or Advanced Predictive Astrology. None of them comments on Taurus and Pisces Moons as a pair. The scoring above is the engine's, with web sources named where the books are silent.

What do Taurus and Pisces Moons score in Guna Milan?
From 13 to 27 out of 36 with Taurus entered first (median 24), and from 12 to 26 with Pisces first (median 23), across all 81 nakshatra-quarter pairings in this app.
Venus is exalted in Pisces. Why is Graha Maitri only 1?
Graha Maitri compares the sign lords, Venus and Jupiter. Jupiter lists Venus as an enemy in BPHS Ch. 3 Sl. 55; exaltation is not part of the koota.
Which kootas vary for this pair?
Only Gana and Nadi. Tara is always 1.5 and Yoni always 2 for a Taurus Moon with a Pisces Moon.
How do I find our exact score?
The match tool computes both nakshatras from birth details and shows every koota.
Is a score of 24 good enough?
This app does not set a pass mark or give a verdict. The score applies one traditional rule set to two Moon positions.
