In short
Two Taurus Moons score between 23 and 33 out of 36 in this app's Ashtakoot engine, with a median of 28, across all 81 nakshatra-quarter pairings. Varna, Vashya, Graha Maitri and Bhakoot are full, fixing 15 points; the remaining 21 depend on the nakshatras, and Nadi is 0 whenever both Moons fall in Krittika or Rohini.
Taurus is where, according to BPHS, the Moon is exalted, and most of the sign is the Moon's moolatrikona. Two people with a Taurus Moon therefore share a placement the classical texts regard well. Guna Milan does not use dignity, but it does reward two Moons in the same sign: every sign koota is full. The range for this pair sits high, with the floor at 23 and the ceiling at 33. Inside that range, one koota does most of the sorting, and it is the one that penalises sameness.
The sign is described on Taurus, Vrishabha rashi. The nakshatra matching hub explains the system once and links all 78 pairs, and the Kundli matching calculator computes the actual score for two charts.
Vrishabh in BPHS, and the Moon's place in it
BPHS Ch. 4 Sl. 8 describes Vrishabh as white in complexion, long, a quadruped sign strong at night, residing in the South, earthy, rising with its back, ruled by Shukr (Venus), and as representing "villages and businessmen". Sl. 5-5.5 makes it the first of the fixed signs and one of the windy ones. Ch. 3 Sl. 49-54 gives the Moon its exaltation in Vrishabh, deepest at 3 degrees, and makes the remainder of the sign its moolatrikona. That is a statement about a planet's strength in a chart. The koota system takes no account of it, and two exalted Moons score no differently from two Moons anywhere else in the same sign relationship.
A Taurus Moon falls in one of nine quarters: Krittika padas 2-4, Rohini (four padas) or Mrigashira padas 1-2. With both Moons in Taurus, the 81 pairings set each of those quarters against each of the same nine.
The kootas a shared sign fixes: the full 15
| Koota | Out of | Reads | Taurus with Taurus | Why |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Varna | 1 | Sign | 1 | Equal class values, so the comparison passes in either order |
| Vashya | 2 | Sign | 2 | Same Vashya group |
| Graha Maitri | 5 | Sign | 5 | Both Moon signs ruled by Venus |
| Bhakoot | 7 | Sign | 7 | Distance 1: not a penalised pair |
| Tara | 3 | Nakshatra | 1.5 or 3 | Depends on the two birth stars |
| Yoni | 4 | Nakshatra | 2 or 4 | Same animal gives 4 |
| Gana | 6 | Nakshatra | 0, 3 or 6 | Depends on the two birth stars |
| Nadi | 8 | Nakshatra | 0 or 8 | Same Nadi group gives 0 |
All 15 sign points are fixed, as for every same-sign pair. The 81 pairings range from 23 to 33 out of 36, with a median of 28, and the reverse order gives the same figures. The 33 ceiling is higher than the 31 reached by two Aries Moons, and the 23 floor lower than Aries-Aries's 26.5, so this pair has a wider spread: 10 points against 4.5. That difference comes entirely from the Taurus stars.
Graha Maitri and Bhakoot
With Venus ruling both Moon signs, the engine's Graha Maitri function returns 5 immediately; no friendship lookup is needed. The Bhakoot count from Taurus to Taurus is 1 each way, outside the 2/12, 5/9 and 6/8 list that scores 0. That list is from two web references named in the engine's header, not from a book in this library, but no version of the rule penalises a same-sign pair.
Varna and Vashya
BPHS links Vrishabh with businessmen, which the engine's Varna table reads as the Vaishya value. Two equal values pass the engine's comparison whichever person is entered first, so the order dependence noted in the engine's header does not arise. The Vashya koota is 2 because both signs are, trivially, in the same group. Varna is a koota name here, not a statement about anyone.
The nakshatras: Krittika, Rohini and Mrigashira
The ten-point spread comes from the three Taurus stars, and their engine attributes explain it almost completely. Krittika is Rakshasa, Antya Nadi, Sheep. Rohini is Manushya, Antya Nadi, Serpent. Mrigashira is Deva, Madhya Nadi, Serpent. Two things follow. First, Krittika and Rohini share a Nadi group, so any pairing using only those two stars, including either star with itself, scores Nadi 0. Second, only Mrigashira is Madhya, so Nadi is 8 only when exactly one Moon is in Mrigashira.
The Gana attributes run from one extreme to the other within one sign: Krittika is Rakshasa and Mrigashira Deva, a pair the engine scores 0. Rohini and Mrigashira share the Serpent, so they score 4 for Yoni; Krittika's Sheep scores 2 against either. None of these labels describes character. They are the system's categories for 27 stars.
That is why two people who both "have a Taurus Moon" can be ten points apart. The nakshatra calculator finds the exact star, and Moon sign and nakshatra explains how sign and star relate.
The floor and the ceiling, star by star
Direct runs of the engine show what sits at each end. A Krittika Moon (Taurus 2 degrees) with a Rohini Moon (Taurus 15 degrees) gives 23, the pair's minimum: Tara is full, Gana gives 3 for Rakshasa against Manushya, Yoni gives 2 for Sheep against Serpent, and Nadi is 0 because both stars are Antya. A Rohini Moon (Taurus 15 degrees) with a Mrigashira Moon (Taurus 28 degrees) gives 33, the maximum: Yoni is 4 for two Serpents, Nadi 8 for Antya against Madhya, Tara 3 and Gana 3. The only points missing from a perfect score are three in Gana.
| Pairing (engine run) | Tara | Yoni | Gana | Nadi | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Krittika with Rohini | 3 | 2 | 3 | 0 | 23 |
| Krittika with Krittika (the worked example) | 3 | 4 | 6 | 0 | 28 |
| Krittika with Mrigashira | 1.5 | 2 | 0 | 8 | 26.5 |
| Rohini with Mrigashira | 3 | 4 | 3 | 8 | 33 |
The table makes the pattern plain. The two pairings without Mrigashira lose Nadi. Krittika with Mrigashira keeps Nadi but loses Gana and half of Tara. Rohini with Mrigashira avoids every heavy loss, and that combination is where the ceiling of 33 lives.
Worked example: two Moons at Taurus 1 degree
Both Moons at 1 degree of Taurus fall in Krittika, second pada. Same sign, same star, same quarter:
| Koota | Score | Out of | What decided it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Varna | 1 | 1 | Sign: same class |
| Vashya | 2 | 2 | Sign: same group |
| Tara | 3 | 3 | Nakshatra: a count of 1 is favourable both ways |
| Yoni | 4 | 4 | Nakshatra: Sheep and Sheep |
| Graha Maitri | 5 | 5 | Sign: Venus and Venus |
| Gana | 6 | 6 | Nakshatra: both Rakshasa |
| Bhakoot | 7 | 7 | Sign: distance 1 |
| Nadi | 0 | 8 | Nakshatra: both Antya |
| Total | 28 | 36 |
Seven kootas are full and one is empty, and the total equals the median. Note the Gana row: two Rakshasa stars score the full 6, because the engine rewards a matching Gana regardless of which Gana it is. The label carries no penalty of its own. The single empty row, Nadi, is the same story as for any identical-star match: the system that rewards sameness in Yoni and Gana penalises it in Nadi.
The tradition has much to say about a Nadi 0, and much of it is softer than its reputation; Nadi dosha sets it out. A 28 is still a description of two Moons and not a judgement on two people. The separate Mars check is explained in Mangal dosha: what it is and is not.
What the texts say about two Taurus Moons
BPHS supplies the description of Vrishabh and the Moon's exaltation and moolatrikona there. It does not contain Ashtakoot; nor do Saravali, the Bhrigu Sutras or Advanced Predictive Astrology in this library. A search for koota, kuta, bhakoot, nadi, gana and yoni finds no matching rule and no remark on two Taurus Moons together. The points above are the engine's, from the rule set it documents.

- What do two Taurus Moons score in Guna Milan?
- Between 23 and 33 out of 36 in this app, median 28, across all 81 nakshatra-quarter pairings. The four sign kootas always give the full 15.
- Does the Moon being exalted in Taurus raise the score?
- No. Ashtakoot uses the Moon signs, their lords and the nakshatras. Exaltation and moolatrikona are not part of the calculation.
- When is Nadi 0 for two Taurus Moons?
- When both Moons are in Krittika or Rohini, which share the Antya group, or both in Mrigashira. Nadi is 8 only when one Moon is in Mrigashira and the other is not.
- Does the order of entry matter?
- No. Both Moons have the same Varna class, so the reverse order gives the same result. The match tool shows the full breakdown for real birth details.
- Is a high score a recommendation to marry?
- No. It is one traditional rule set applied to two Moon positions. This app does not give a verdict on marriage.
