In short

Two Pisces Moons score between 27.5 and 34 out of 36 in this app, median 28, across all 81 nakshatra-quarter pairings. The four sign kootas are full at 15, each Pisces star has its own Nadi so Nadi is lost only for a shared star, and the narrow spread comes from Gana, Yoni and Tara.

Two Pisces Moons close the list of Moon-sign pairs, and they produce one of its tightest ranges. In Guna Milan the shared sign fills the four sign kootas. The three Pisces stars then sit in three different Nadis, so Nadi is lost only when both Moons share a star - and a shared star brings full Gana and Yoni in compensation. No pairing falls below 27.5. This page traces each possible total to its stars.

The sign is described at Pisces, Meena rashi. The nakshatra matching guide is the hub for all 78 Moon-sign pairs; the Kundli matching calculator scores two real charts.

Meen in BPHS

BPHS Ch. 4 Sl. 22-24 describes Meen as "a pair of fish, one tailed with the head of the other". It is strong at night, watery, "predominant with Sattva-Gun", "denotes resoluteness", is a water-resorter, footless and of medium build, rules the North, and "rises with both head and back". Its ruler is Guru. The same passage closes the chapter's survey of the twelve signs. Sl. 5-5.5 counts Meen among the phlegmatic signs and, as the last of the twelve, among the dual signs.

A Pisces Moon is in the last pada of Purva Bhadrapada, the four of Uttara Bhadrapada or the four of Revati. Two Pisces Moons give 81 combinations, with a sign distance of 1 each way.

The kootas this sign pair fixes: a full 15

Bhakoot771/1 is not a failing distance
Fixed for all 81 pairings (engine-facts.mjs pisces-and-pisces-moon-sign-compatibility, run 2026-10-14).

These follow directly from the shared sign. Graha Maitri scores 5 for a single lord. Bhakoot scores 7 because the engine fails only 2/12, 5/9 and 6/8, a rule taken from two agreeing web references; no book in this library contains one. Varna, which can depend on entry order for mixed pairs, is 1 either way with identical values, and the scratch run gave the same totals in both orders. Varna is used only as the koota's name.

The kootas the nakshatras decide

The three Pisces stars in the engine's tables:

  • Purva Bhadrapada (one pada): Aadi Nadi, Manushya Gana, Lion Yoni.
  • Uttara Bhadrapada (four padas): Madhya Nadi, Manushya Gana, Cow Yoni.
  • Revati (four padas): Antya Nadi, Deva Gana, Elephant Yoni.

Each star has its own Nadi, so Nadi is 0 only for two Moons in the same star - 33 pairings - and 8 in the other 48. Gana is 6 when both stars are Manushya or both Deva (41 pairings) and 3 when Revati meets a Bhadrapada star (40); with no Rakshasa star, it never falls to 0. Yoni is 4 for a shared star (33 pairings), 2 for most mixed pairs (40), and 0 in 8 pairings where the Lion of Purva Bhadrapada meets the Elephant of Revati, an enemy pair in the engine's table. Tara is 3 in 73 pairings and 1.5 in 8.

Every possible total

With the sign kootas fixed at 15, two Pisces Moons produce four totals:

  • Same star: Tara 3, Yoni 4, Gana 6, Nadi 0 - 28 (33 pairings).
  • Purva Bhadrapada with Revati: Tara 1.5, Yoni 0, Gana 3, Nadi 8 - 27.5 (8 pairings).
  • Uttara Bhadrapada with Revati: Tara 3, Yoni 2, Gana 3, Nadi 8 - 31 (32 pairings).
  • Purva with Uttara Bhadrapada: Tara 3, Yoni 2, Gana 6, Nadi 8 - 34 (8 pairings).

Those counts reproduce the engine's figures: the 8 lowest totals at 27.5, then 33 at 28 - which puts the 41st value, the median, at 28 - then 32 at 31 and 8 at the ceiling of 34.

The floor is set by the Lion-Elephant rule rather than by Nadi. A Purva Bhadrapada Moon facing a Revati Moon keeps Nadi (Aadi against Antya), but loses Yoni entirely, drops to 3 on Gana (Manushya against Deva), and has only one favourable Tara direction: counting inclusively from Purva Bhadrapada to Revati gives 3, which the engine treats as unfavourable, while the count back, 26, passes. That combination costs half a point more than a shared star.

The ceiling belongs to the two Bhadrapadas. They are consecutive stars, both Manushya, with different Nadis and favourable Tara both ways. Only Yoni is short, because the Lion and the Cow are different animals. Since Purva Bhadrapada has a single pada in Pisces, this top combination accounts for just 8 of the 81 pairings.

The range of totals

Across all 81 pairings two Pisces Moons score 27.5 to 34 out of 36, median 28. The spread is six and a half points and the floor is high, so the sign pair alone says a good deal here. The stars still decide the exact value. The nakshatra calculator gives the star from a birth time; Moon sign and nakshatra explains how sign and star relate.

Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati, with four padas each, decide most pairings. Two Moons in either one score 28; one in each scores 31. A couple in which one Moon is in the single Purva Bhadrapada pada sees the widest swing - 34 with Uttara Bhadrapada, 27.5 with Revati.

The shape resembles the Scorpio and Scorpio and Sagittarius and Sagittarius pages, where three stars with three different Nadis also produce a high floor and a handful of possible totals. The details differ in each case because the Gana and Yoni of the particular stars differ. For Pisces, the absence of a Rakshasa star removes the Gana zero, and the presence of the Lion and the Elephant in one sign introduces a Yoni zero instead. The scoring follows from the engine's tables, not from anything the classical texts say about the signs.

Worked example: Pisces 1 degree with Pisces 1 degree

Both Moons at 1 degree of Pisces are in the Pisces pada of Purva Bhadrapada. ashtakoot() returns:

Seven kootas full, Nadi zero: the shared-star pattern, and here also the median. The engine labels the Nadi result "Same Nadi - traditionally flagged; worth discussing openly". Some practitioners apply exceptions when two people share a star or sign; neither the engine nor the books in this library contain such an exception, so none is applied.

Move one Moon a degree or two on, into Uttara Bhadrapada, and Nadi becomes 8 while Yoni falls to 2 - the total rises to the ceiling of 34. Move it instead to the end of the sign, into Revati, and the Lion-Elephant enmity gives the floor of 27.5. Nadi dosha explains the same-Nadi rule.

What the classical texts say

BPHS describes Meen and gives the planetary relationships the engine uses. It contains no Ashtakoot rule, and neither do Saravali, the Bhrigu Sutras or Advanced Predictive Astrology - a search for bhakoot, koota, kuta, nadi, gana and yoni finds none. Nothing in the corpus addresses two Pisces Moons as a match.

What a score does not tell you

A high, narrow range is a property of the scheme meeting one sign twice; it is not a promise about two people, and this app gives no verdict on marriage. Mars placement is a separate traditional check, covered in Mangal dosha: what it is and is not. For a lighter comparison that does not use Ashtakoot, try the love compatibility calculator.

What is the Guna Milan score for two Pisces Moons?
From 27.5 to 34 out of 36, median 28, across all 81 nakshatra-quarter pairings in this app.
Why is the floor so high?
The sign kootas give the full 15, Gana never falls below 3 because Pisces has no Rakshasa star, and each Pisces star has its own Nadi, so Nadi is lost only for a shared star, which brings full Gana and Yoni instead.
Which pairing scores lowest?
Purva Bhadrapada with Revati, at 27.5. The Lion and the Elephant are natural enemies in the engine's Yoni table, so Yoni is 0, and Gana and Tara are reduced.
Does the order we are entered in matter?
No. Both Moons carry the same Varna value in the engine's table, so the one order-sensitive koota scores 1 either way.
Which pairing scores highest?
Purva Bhadrapada with Uttara Bhadrapada, at 34: both Manushya, different Nadi, Tara favourable both ways.
How do we get our actual score?
Enter both birth details in the match tool. For two Pisces Moons the stars decide between 27.5, 28, 31 and 34.
